Didn’t the Danes use forced contraception on Greenlanders? I believe there is an independence movement. If I thought it was better for my people then yes I would, it doesn’t matter if it’s Trump specifically or not, would I be better off under the USA? I would worry that having extensive American bases on my land would make me a target in the event of all out war. Also the behaviour of american soldiers in Okinawa has in the past been horrific, believe there were some rapes etc. I just don’t think Greenlanders are particularly fond of Denmark either. Rock and a hard place really.

They would be better off declaring independence and renting land to America. But it’s such a small population I’m not sure there would be enough capacity for self governance, hospitals, education etc. Either way I’d want more than a million dollars.

It's interesting from a social experiment perspective- when will the money be paid? Could you take it and then vote no? Or is it only paid if the overall vote is yes? And then only to those who opted in? Heck of a gamble to say no to the cash if everyone else says yes and votes yes.

Presumably the offer is that he'll pay everyone if a vote goes his way so no decision needed other than voting?

There probably is a sum that would buy me but a million is too low. Because American government is awful and I really really hate Trump. A million wouldn't be enough to escape society enough that you wouldn't suffer consequences from being under that government. Christ its probably not even enough to cover a year of healthcare costs.
I do know some lovely Americans and I do think America is a beautiful and interesting country.
But Trump is a populist nightmare i dont want anything to do with.

Most of the Greenlandish people wouldn't thrieve in Denmark and they would certainly loose their culture and language. Denmark is very different than Greenland. Getting a job supporting yourself and your family would be hard for many.
A million Danish kroner dont buy a lot btw if you need to relocate/rent/buy a place to live in Denmark.

We really are paying the price for having become so dependent on the US for national/continental security.

We placed far too much trust in the US remaining a reliable ally (and even ignored warnings from the US).

These days, I live in Canada (and close to the US border). I'd sooner take up a gun against a US invasion than take a bribe to accept subjugation.

That said, Canada has some 40m people - while it'd be vastly overpowered, it might be able to put up enough of a fight to dissuade the US from proceeding or continuing with an invasion.

The UK are recognised as serious allies to European countries in this situation and in Ukraine. Look at the recent announcement between France and Germany and UK with regard to Ukrainian security and participation of the UK. The EU countries absolutely recognise the importance of the UK but the EU as an Institution still has issues with the UK not following their social agenda. They act like pertinent teenagers whilst their member states that see the actual threats are working outside the EU echo chamber. Recent announcements on Ukraine have not been EU announcements but announcements between individual countries and the UK. Because they know the UK is a strong Allie, as it always has been, long before the EU Commission started dictating to Countries how to run themselves.

No I don't think Denmark will ever want to trade with Trumph as Denmark know Denmark can't sell Greenland. Denmark isn't a banana state.

Being in NATO "everything ends" if USA attacks another NATO country I think I read the Danish PM said. But Denmark and EU navigate this with a Potus not following the rules at all.
