What tiny things make you irrationally annoyed?

Just that, really. I'll start with a few.

The way discount pop-ups scream at you on a shopping page as soon as you click on it. Excuse me, I haven't had a chance to look at the product yet, I don't KNOW if I want a 15% discount!!

Daytime TV adverts. Either they are for funeral plans, featuring perky older couples chatting gaily about "lovely send-offs" or overpriced tat that requires them to repeat the same information repeatedly for several minutes in the hope you'll be hypnotised into ordering it.

Supermarket layouts. Always moving stuff about, completely random grouping of items. For instance, my local Morrisons has just moved half its meat products on an aisle away from the butchery department.

I have dozens more, nothing major, but niggling.

We have taken the pups to the supermarket pretty often, a lot of dog people do because it's good socialisation when you're training a puppy. I had assumed the comment referred car parks in general, not specifically supermarkets, exactly as the other poster with horse feed did. You are being quite pedantic, I think.

In any case, supermarket or not, it is a sodding pain having someone park right up to your bumper when you have a dog in.

😂😂read ops question again

Surely not everyone at the supermarket cp are releasing their giant hounds from their boots 😂

Or get out straight onto bathmat, dry himself and hang bathmat and towel up?

Sorry, thats a whole other thing that irrationally bothers me, bath mats, toilet seat covers and the toilet brush 🤑

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 07/01/2026 17:37

Surely thats not every day need though?

majority of the time yes that's why am driving for to collect stuff most of the time
aswell as that the small town I live it's spilit in the middle by a river with one way traffic either side majority of parking is at an angle so you have to drive in and reverse out traffic behind you has to stop

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 07/01/2026 17:37

Wexone · 07/01/2026 14:14

I drive into parking spaces as apposed to reversing in majority of the time. I need access to my boot to load shopping, bags of feed for horses anything for the stables etc. I can't access my boot nor able to lift stuff easily to the boot.

Surely thats not every day need though?

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 07/01/2026 17:36

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 07/01/2026 14:32

We drive into parking spaces forwards because we generally have a giant breed dog in the boot and they need enough space to jump out when we open the tailgate.

Surely not everyone at the supermarket cp are releasing their giant hounds from their boots 😂

Slow walkers
People stopping dead in the middle of the pavement
People hogging the entire pavement when walking in a group
People who act as if they’ve never been on a train/tube before, getting on and blocking the doors or aisles, faffing about which way to turn
People who play music/videos in public with no headphones
People who have loud conversations in public
People who cut corners on mini roundabouts
Loud eaters
Spitting
Middle lane hoggers on the motorway
Littering
People who write everything in the past tense or change tense halfway through a report
People who randomly capitalise the first letter of words
People who write surnames/dates/places in capital letters
People who think it’s acceptable to cold call me on Teams when they aren’t in my team/my boss/I’ve never spoken with them before (the height of rudeness, in my opinion

Phew, I feel better now

Because anyone with at least one brain cell would want to choose the quietest time they're in a position to go in.

Or don't go at all, get it delivered

People who apostrophe words when meaning to be plural. Like tomato’s, banana’s. It’s tomatoes and bananas!!!!

It's even worse when they do it to some plural words but not others! The cafe at my office has a sign saying "tea's, coffees, panini's and pastries". WHY??

I always give the same answers to this question so this time I'm going to be different and literally choose tiny things.

The telescoping pin things on watch straps that are so difficult to fit.

Earring butterflies when they are too loose and fall off.

Slugs, especially when they eat my beans - but maybe that's not irrational.

The metal hook things that the laces of your hiking boots go around, when they bend out of shape or go rusty.

Rubbers that are too hard and don't actually rub anything out.

Jelly beans, specifically when a really nice flavour is almost exactly the same colour as a horrible flavour (and no, I don't live in the wizarding world - it happens with real ones too).

With the sneezing, I will bless DH three times then tell him he will receive no more blessings from me 🤣

Thanks @ThatNaiceMember I may follow that next time. 3 blessings are plenty for him!

Oh yes. I can't bear seeing on MN how people do this to names and dates. For example, 'how many Milly's do you know' and 'in the 80's we used to...' Angry

Twins3007 · 07/01/2026 15:56

when you have dished up the dinner and said " dinner ready" and takes everybody ages to get to the table, I know its their fault if its cold but just bugs me lol

Nevermind17 · 07/01/2026 15:30

Why shouldn’t we though? You think we all sit round all week thumb twiddling? We don’t have full lives? Anyone should be able to go into a shop on whatever day and time they want to, and buy whatever the hell they want. Retirees are not second class citizens. Have a word with yourself!

Thirdchildjoy · 07/01/2026 15:53

School constantly asking me for voluntary contributions for this or that. If its voluntary like fuck I'm going to pay for it.

Or even worse the PTA asking for wine or chocolate for the tombola - always organised my some thick as shit mum who hasn't realised that asking people to spend a £5 on crap wine they will sell raffle tickets and raise £1 for is not sensible.

heartsinvisiblefury · 07/01/2026 15:45

A colleague of mine who stirs his coffee so many times that by the time he’s finished it will be cold. I want to scream!

Cosyblankets · 07/01/2026 15:40

Shop staff and bar staff who say, "are you OK?" instead of next please or who's next!
I want to say I'm fine thanks how are you?

LadyFlumpalot · 07/01/2026 15:34

People driving fast, performance cars slowly at 40mph everywhere. 20mph speed limit or 60mph speed limit… they are still going at 40mph. Also, why drop ££££ on a performance car if you are never going to leave 3rd gear! They are also usually wearing a hat of some description whilst driving.

ThatNaiceMember · 07/01/2026 15:32

Queuing for ages at supermarket checkout behind someone with a huge shop....who then starts fumbling around for their purse/wallet only after everything has been rung up. As if it comes as a huge surprise to them that they are actually expected to pay.

My DH sneezes. I say 'Bless you'. 5 seconds later he sneezes again. Dilemma: what to do? Say 'Bless you' again and feel silly/pedantic, or ignore the 2nd sneeze and risk him feeling I don't care? I am irritated out of all proportion by this.

People who don't get out of our way when I am pushing DS down the street in his wheelchair and insist on walking or standing right in our path. It is fairly easy to walk in a straight line but really hard to stop/start or turn with the combined weight of an adult in a wheelchair. Part of me wants to just keep going and run them over.

(This one is really irrational) People wearing new coats with slits at the back which haven't had the stitches taken out which keep them closed. Something about that giant cross stitch I find so irritating.

With the sneezing, I will bless DH three times then tell him he will receive no more blessings from me 🤣

I’m accepting those who buy a few things on Saturdays . It’s those who do their full weekly shop that annoy me (and working age customers) more than the ones that buy a few things like yourself

People yawning loudly, it's so annoying! Oh and sneezing and adding a performance level choooooooo at the end!

It makes me irrationally angry that people think that retired people should be forced to shop during the week and never at weekends.

Sometimes I’m too busy during the week. Sometimes I’ll run out of something on a Saturday. If I’m making a nice Sunday lunch I want nice fresh ingredients so I’ll go on Saturday.

Sick to the back teeth of this ageist claptrap.

I live with dh and 3 ds’s (two of whom are teens). For some reason these 4 males seem to have great difficulty in flushing the toilet. I even put up signs in the bathrooms reminding them to flush yet they still don’t. It definitely makes me irrationally angry
