Just that, really. I'll start with a few.

The way discount pop-ups scream at you on a shopping page as soon as you click on it. Excuse me, I haven't had a chance to look at the product yet, I don't KNOW if I want a 15% discount!!

Daytime TV adverts. Either they are for funeral plans, featuring perky older couples chatting gaily about "lovely send-offs" or overpriced tat that requires them to repeat the same information repeatedly for several minutes in the hope you'll be hypnotised into ordering it.

Supermarket layouts. Always moving stuff about, completely random grouping of items. For instance, my local Morrisons has just moved half its meat products on an aisle away from the butchery department.

I have dozens more, nothing major, but niggling.

Surely the whole point of scratchcards is the thrill of seeing if it's a winner or not - and, if so, how much? Even if they don't care about that, it's not on for them to effectively make you their scratchcard servant. Why wouldn't you throw a losing card away immediately - or don't they even bother to scratch them off in the first place, so they really don't know?!

Do these people not realise how much they're leaving themselves open to a potentially dishonest shop assistant ripping them off? It would be the easiest thing in the world to declare a winning card a non-winner; or tell them that one that won £100 only won a fiver.

You be surprised how many people don’t scratch the bonus game panel. Some of the £3 bingo cards have one to the right side of the playing numbers. Scan card and enter the 4 digit PIN “you won £10” I said. “I thought it was only a fiver” said customer. Me after scratching off the unscratched bonus game “you forgot to scratch off the bonus game which is £5 win.” Then show the bonus game to customer.

I have paid out £100 to people who just won that on the bonus game! Nothing on the bingo cards.

It makes me irrationally angry that people think that retired people should be forced to shop during the week and never at weekends.

Sometimes I’m too busy during the week. Sometimes I’ll run out of something on a Saturday. If I’m making a nice Sunday lunch I want nice fresh ingredients so I’ll go on Saturday.

Sick to the back teeth of this ageist claptrap.

I’m retirement age but definitely not retired so if I’m shopping on a Saturday how would anyone know if I’m ’entitled’ to be there anyway? What is annoying is people of any age and working status going into a crazy busy shop in the lead up to Christmas and standing about in groups chatting to various people they’ve bumped into, or even worse, allowing their children to have control of a trolley of any size. Insanely annoying, utterly stupid and dangerous.

Surely it's the fact that these retired people are then complaining that the supermarket is really busy on a Saturday morning that annoyed OP. If they just did their shopping without comment, no-one would care.

I hated people who handed me a wad of cards - mix of winners and non winners. If you don’t understand how a scratchcard works, don’t buy them! People who understand how to play them deserve the money more!

Unfortunately this is capitalism. Geared to buy, buy, buy.

Fireworks (don't get me started!)
Parking that demonstrates driver thinks people are less important than cars.
Slurping tea.
Dog walkers on phones who conveniently can't see their dog has just shat and therefore can't see to pick up said turd.
"I'm not racist but ...."
Reform.

Possibly not little things......

Since I’ve just seen it on here, people who say ‘brekkie’! Mind you my FiL used to call it ‘brekker’, which is even worse.

Did he go to public/other posh school? They tend to lop off the ends of words and replace them with 'er' a lot.

Another scratch card one - people who save up all their scratch cards and bring them in on Christmas Eve to cash in, despite the queue already being out of the door, and then saying 'I'm not sure which ones are winners, your machine will check, right?'

Well, yes, but it still needs me to input the four digit number and you could have come in on a quieter day! And at least check which are the winners and just bring those ones in!

Itiswhysofew · 11/01/2026 15:45

Being blocked by other shoppers in supermarket aisles & exits. Sometimes I'm relaxed about it, but other times not so much. Yesterday, behind a shopper with a large, very full trolly, struggling to push it one-handed whilst on her mobile & collecting a shop leaflet from a rack at the same time. I mean, give me strength😩

Somebody leaving drawers and cupboard doors open.
Somebody putting the cheese grater on the glasses and cups shelf.
Somebody using my deodorant because they took the one I bought them to work.
Somebody hanging their coat on the back of the dining room chair.
Somebody dropping the dogs harness and lead wherever.., Then wandering round looking for it and asking me where they are.
Somebody leaving their dirty socks and undies on the bathroom floor after they’ve had a shower.
Somebody is DH!
27 years I’ve been nagging about the same old shite!!

I know exactly how you feel
I live with one of these somebody's too.... I do wonder how they get so set in their ways and dont realise what they are doing or how bloody irritating it is

When I'm about to click on a link or button on my phone and the interface changes and I end up clicking on something else! Drives me insane.

People, i.e. everyone now, who say 'a hundred percent!'. Just 'yes' or 'absolutely' will do. 😤

Noisy eaters.loud runching or chewing gum especially! Talking while eating is another
Whistling
Leaving cupboard doors open
Leaving mess in the bathroom ie towels on the floor, water everywhere
Not hanging washing correctly on the airer so it drys ( hubby just checks it on so ends up only half drying and all creased
The list is endless but it all gives me rage

Is my DH a bigamist? 😂

Oh so many...
My teenage dd saying 'literally' every thirty seconds
People sneezing theatrically
Men in women clothes shops trailing around after their partners like gormless goats
Grown women who pout in photos- WTAF?
Passive aggressive work emails copying in the world and his wife for extra effect.
'Making memories'

I could go on and on...

Yes to men in clothes shops. I know some have 'man chairs' situated near the changing rooms.
Also, men (who have obviously been sent down to the supermarket) pushing trollies, looking as though it's their first day on planet earth with a bewildered expression on their faces.

Blueuggboots · 10/01/2026 22:00

@Byeretail, yes some do, but the UK DOES NOT!!

People who sign off on internal emails with "kind regards" etc when you are sitting in the same office. You literally spoke to me half an hour ago so you don't need to send me your regards!

I do this. But only because I was told I was rude when I didn’t sign off like that 🤦🏼‍♀️ same with not having the “hello, how are you” conversation every time someone calls me on teams, even if Ive
spoken to them already. That makes me irrationally angry.
but then most things do these days 😂

The word ‘triggering’. Or ‘stressful’.

People beefing about "the state of the country", the government (any government which happens to be in power), the "NHS is broken", paying tax.... 🤬

When people say things such as "please contact myself with any questions" and "this report has been prepared by myself and Linda".

I know it's irrational irritation because not everyone has the same grip on correct grammar usage as some of us do.

Also cake served on top of the bloody napkin.

Oh gosh, yes! Reflexive pronoun abuse.
Myself and hubby.....
You'll hear from ourselves.....
Was it yourself who made the tart?

Also, insisting on always using the subject pronoun 'I' and never 'me'. I think this may be because people had it drilled into their heads that it's 'Bob and I', never Bob and me'.
The dog went to the park with Bob and me. Great!
