Just that, really. I'll start with a few.

The way discount pop-ups scream at you on a shopping page as soon as you click on it. Excuse me, I haven't had a chance to look at the product yet, I don't KNOW if I want a 15% discount!!

Daytime TV adverts. Either they are for funeral plans, featuring perky older couples chatting gaily about "lovely send-offs" or overpriced tat that requires them to repeat the same information repeatedly for several minutes in the hope you'll be hypnotised into ordering it.

Supermarket layouts. Always moving stuff about, completely random grouping of items. For instance, my local Morrisons has just moved half its meat products on an aisle away from the butchery department.

I have dozens more, nothing major, but niggling.

Someone sitting and constantly clicking the top of a pen ‘on and off’.

’Click, click, click’ - I want to scream.

NannyOgg1341 · 07/01/2026 11:42

When I have to sign up to a website just to make one small purchase. Actually I probably don't need a full subscription to Toilets Monthly, I just want to buy 1 toilet seat!

5128gap · 07/01/2026 11:39

Posh parents and children braying at each other at top volume at NT properties.

northernballer · 07/01/2026 11:39

Incorrect use of myself and yourself
People not using schedule asisst before booking a meeting
Neighbours who don't collect parcels on the same day
Women who say they prefer the company of men as other women are too bitchy

TheeNotoriousPIG · 07/01/2026 11:27

I’m surprised that I haven’t seen corned beef tin openers mentioned yet!

For me, it would be:
Clocks that tick are SO distracting that I can’t turn my ears off from them. I will hear them above everything else (along with any other repetitive noises)

Advertisements… I have an ad-blocker, and pay to be ad-free on some sites, so why am I still seeing advertisements?

The self-checkout machines at the Co-Op, which have distracting screens that show you how wild your hair has gone, and which insist that EVERYONE needs assistance. I go to the self-checkout machines because the tills usually aren’t manned.

Please just email me, and let me sort things out online, because your working hours (9-5, Monday-Friday) are not compatible with mine (14 hour days, including every other weekend), and phone signal can be an interesting concept in the countryside!

The assumption that I do not work on a farm because I am a female.

The assumption that farm workers are stupid. Actually, we’re quite a philosophical bunch, and if it wasn’t for us, you wouldn’t have food on your plates, or milk for your endless cups of tea and coffee!

loislovesstewie · 07/01/2026 11:26

People who write 'ect' when they mean etc. Also people who don't know the difference between i.e and e.g.

Yeah, I don't really get the retired people have to plan their shopping around the rest of us logic. Although I do think shops should plan their rotas around the fact that Saturday will be busy. There's one local supermarket that seems to be constantly caught out by Saturday happening.

I’ve also see people moaning about retired people having the temerity to be in the shops at lunchtime on weekdays. Why that doesn’t also apply to SAHMs, shift workers, part time workers on their non working days or people just on a day off I’m not sure.

Lisavanderpumpsdog · 07/01/2026 11:12

Niche, but people who moan at me for making wobbly bridges wobble. Don't go on the bloody wobbly bridge if you don't want to wobble!!

Lisavanderpumpsdog · 07/01/2026 11:09

RideTheGoat · 07/01/2026 06:41

There's one thing that really gets my goat - PEOPLE NOT INDICATING when driving.

Oh, and my alarm clock.

On the flip side, people indicating too soon. When they indicate left before they have gone past the first junction on a roundabout so you think they are taking that turning, but they they carry on coming around.

Lisavanderpumpsdog · 07/01/2026 11:07

Oh god, this is the thread for me - Sooooo many things!

Shops that where you have to use an App, but that do not have any wifi, meaning you can't access the fucking app.

"tick this box to remember your log in details". Which does fuck all and you still have to manually sign in each time (looking at you, every single government related website).

The sound of wrappers on Instagram videos. Like if it's one of those where they are showing you something they purchased and the video starts with taking it out the packaging. I can not stand it. Put some music over it please!!!

Oh, and the people who make videos of themselves watching a reel - Nobody cares what your reaction is!

The woman at work who doesn't seem to understand if my door is closed, I don't want you in here. And yes, I have told her.

I could go on, and probably will return later with more.

Wexone · 07/01/2026 11:07

Phone noise oh it gives me rage - Sitting there and then you hear a blast of tik tok noise or snap chat or even worse video calls -Get Headphones have your video calls at some where private - My husband worse for this and now i have a set of headphones in every room of the house, if he forgets he gets them thrown at him straight away or told leave the room
Same in the office, constant noise of people on calls and not moving to the booths, i actually complemented someone a few weeks ago though , she was sat beside me ( from another site) she sat at her desk on headphones on calls majority but i barely heard her speak, told her she should be teaching that skill to everyone
People i work with, told them on the last day before finished for xmas x task will be completed and approved in new year shortly when we are back. back on the 1st day after everyone off for nearly two weeks including global. email at 10am has x task been approved and completed ? No as we only back today and we didn't have santas elves working for us while we were off

ThisChirpyLemonUser · 07/01/2026 11:06

having a speech impediment, social anxiety and then forgetting what I was going to say half way through the conversation so the whole thing doesn't matter.

OneQuirkyPanda · 07/01/2026 11:02

Slow walkers

People who stop in doorways or at the top/bottom of escalators to look around or chat

People who think everyone else should freeze to death at work because they’re having hot flushes (before anyone complains this is not purely aimed at menopausal women, I work with two men who demand the aircon is set at 16C because they’re hot all the time)

These few are work related:

Women, who for some reason once their husbands retire, start treating them like they’re children and book all their appointments for them and speak on their behalf (obviously excluding men with medical conditions who do need help)

Patients who act like they’re doing me a favour by turning up to their appointments

Patients who are mobile but demand home visits (instead of coming to their hospital appointments like everyone else) just because they’re elderly, also including those who lie about being immobile to get home visits

When I worked at Sainsbury's restaurant they never seemed prepared for the sheer amount of people that wanted feeding! They would put on skeleton staff and if finish my shift feeling sick and sweating my eyeballs out (only for my husband to have roast dinner on the table literally the second my shift finished, not taking into account the 10 minute walk home)

I have been known to complain to them via twitter, not in store, and pointed out that it's rubbish customer service but also not fair on staff because it's horrible not being able to do your job well.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/01/2026 10:51

BIWI · 07/01/2026 10:26

Oh yes @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER!

Oh, and some radio ad for a private healthcare provider which ends with ‘Healthcare done different!’

People who seem to have deleted adverbs from their vocabulary. DH and I regularly shout ‘LY!’ at the telly.

I was perversely delighted with a dd of maybe ten, who told me after tests at school, ‘English was OK, Mum, but I did really craply at maths.’ 😂

SnowFrogJelly · 07/01/2026 10:49

People who stand in the middle of the supermarket aisle on their phones asking what to get
Also anyone who drives right up behind me with headlights on when I’m driving carefully..

I hate it when you walk past Lush and the stench it gives off. It’s like people who vape in public. It’s forcing a smell on you without giving you any say in the matter. I’d never actually go into Lush due to their views on Gender.

I know!! I used to get told all the time I smell like Lush even on my days off even though I had gone nose blind to it and couldn't smell it myself. The smell clings and made me a walking reed diffuser. When I quit I used unscented toiletries for a month 😂

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 07/01/2026 10:45

People who stop at the bottom of escalators so you have to do a quick sidestep around them or you go right into the back of them.

StrawberrySquash · 07/01/2026 10:45

Places where the menus are electronic and keep changing so you cant decide what you want. They are usually behind the counter too so and when you are trying to read them someone asks you to order. I end up flustered and walking out.

Why???? So annoying. Stop cycling and let me read the menu. Similarly those electronic billboards. I go to look at a new product or take a picture and it's moved on. It's like you don't want me to see the add. And those awful ones on TfL escalators where they've bought up the whole thing and then put the same moving ad on each one. Distracting, disorienting and pointless use of the hardware. Buy the lot, put a static, varied message on each. Or use the boards to tell a story.

Katemax82 · 07/01/2026 10:44

Also i used to work for royal mail as a temp. Without fa my stepdad always referred to my job as "the post office" as in "you working at the post office this week?" Royal mail and the post office do work together but they are separate!!! Somone who works for the post office dies stuff like handle peoples stuff they're sending. Royal mail take said items and deliver them!! I worked on Sundays only which is when post offices are shut!

StrawberrySquash · 07/01/2026 10:41

Nevermind17 · 07/01/2026 07:33

It makes me irrationally angry that people think that retired people should be forced to shop during the week and never at weekends.

Sometimes I’m too busy during the week. Sometimes I’ll run out of something on a Saturday. If I’m making a nice Sunday lunch I want nice fresh ingredients so I’ll go on Saturday.

Sick to the back teeth of this ageist claptrap.

Yeah, I don't really get the retired people have to plan their shopping around the rest of us logic. Although I do think shops should plan their rotas around the fact that Saturday will be busy. There's one local supermarket that seems to be constantly caught out by Saturday happening.

loveawineloveacrisp · 07/01/2026 10:40

Having to start every work email this week with 'happy new year'. Stoppit now.

Katemax82 · 07/01/2026 10:36

Also I managed to put my phone on my car and drive off. It ended up in the middle of the road and got destroyed. I got myself a cheap Motorola as my 800 quid phone wasn't covered on my house insurance as it happened outdoors. I was ok with this until I found out my phone can't do contactless payments!!! I nearly cried!!!

Katemax82 · 07/01/2026 10:34

When I get a cold and my nose does that tingly thing. Makes me actually want to punch myself hard in the face!
The bakery in the village my daughter goes to school in sells the best macaroons. If my baby is asleep I'd love to park directly outside it to pop in while my son sleeps. Literally every time there's some fucking work van or other cunt parked where I want to park! It should be reserved for people with sleeping babies!
