about being back in bed all cosy, now that ds is away back to school in his taxi?
The house is lovely and quiet, and im under the duvet eating a box of heros. Staying here until he arrives home at 3.30 😃

I will never understand people with knowledge of how hard it is actively wanting it to be so hard for everyone. Absolutely no need.

He goes to the only additional needs school in the area and I dont drive. Not sure why im explaining myself to anyone tbh. Anyway, that was a lovely long lie 😃

In your mind maybe, not in mine!

I took my role seriously.
It wasn't a skive.

I haven’t read any of the replies to my previous post because I don’t care what they say 😁

i have two disabled children. I am a single parent. I have a small business which I cannot expand because of my children’s needs - one of them - a young adult, has never washed her own hair or travelled anywhere independently, not on a bus/train or in a “taxi”. My oldest wasn’t able to tell me he was hungry till he was around 14. Just a few examples of their high care needs.

Parents should take their own children to school wherever possible. I am actually surprised that a grown woman is receiving so many head pats for lying in bed eating chocolates all day while her disabled child goes off to school in the cold without their Mum bothering to take them. I also think the boasting is pretty hard to take for all these parents who did get up on this first horrible day back, and go out into the freezing cold with their children this morning. I got many positive reactions to my previous post and 25% have voted that she is BU so at least I am not alone in thinking this way.

🤣
So you want a pat on the head it seems.
Seems you enjoy your life
Let OP enjoy hers exactly the way she wants.
And if you ever suffer in anyway, just remember
Awww it's life, get over yourself 😉

Should be having a day of peace and quiet but school shut due to snow.

Two feet of it here, everything shut, post office, roads, work, schools. I could cry. Its been a long two weeks.

Has it occurred to you that others’ lives and disabled DC’s needs are different to your own, @Sequinsoneverythingplease ?

I guess not. You’re not interested in anyone else’s experiences or opinions.

It's called independence. Why wouldn't parents encourage independence where children can manage it?

Yes unfortunately there are alot of posters just as ignorant as you and if we are going to play disability top trumps my 15 year has never been able to tell. Me hes hungry as hes completely nonverbal and can only communicate on a very basic level.
He cant wash his hair either.

RudolphTheReindeer · 05/01/2026 15:04

LAs wouldn't have to spend preposterous amounts on send transport if they:

  1. made mainstreams more inclusive instead of letting them get away with unlawful exclusions and refusals to make reasonable adjustments
  2. actually put early intervention in place when the decent schools (or parents of children in the crap non inclusive schools) ask for additional support
  3. adhered to the law around EHC needs assessments and issuing EHCPs
  4. ensured EHCP provision was in place
  5. didn't wait until crisis point before agreeing a child can have additional funding/support, by which time it costs £££££ more due to avoidable escalation
  6. ensured they have enough specialist placements so said children (lots of whom end up in specialist due to all the above failures when they could have stayed in mainstream if the right support was given at the right time) could attend school in their local community instead of being ferried off for up to 45/75 mins journey twice a day.

enjoy it OP! I had a firm kick back into reality when I opened my emails this morning and found two from my LA and two from school. Joy!

And its a huge spectrum as you should know with some people requiring far more care then others ,its bern and extremely long two weeks for some parents with no let up.

HerVagestyTheQueef · 05/01/2026 14:51

wishingonastar101 · 05/01/2026 14:40

its 24/7 for working parents with non disabled children too.

Yes, caring for disabled children is exactly the same as caring for non-disabled children. FFSHmm

Seriously, how ignorant can you be?
When my child was screaming literally non-stop all night, when I was taking her to endless weekday meetings, assessments and therapy sessions, when I was collecting her from school in the middle of the day because she was aggressive and unsettled YET AGAIN, when I was dealing with a smashed up house… how on earth could I have held down a full time job? I’d’ve been sacked in the first week.

Then again, I did have some weekday time to myself when she (and her siblings) did manage some time at school, so I guess I was just a lazy drain on society.

No its really really not the same 🙄
Do your non disabled teenagers need full assistance with personal care and dressing themselves ,do they need watching over 24/7 to keep them safe
Do they need 1:1 assistance with everything they do ,do you have to try and work out what they want and are trying to communicate with you?
I could go on all day how its very duferrent.
