Feel a bit mean, but so excited for tomorrow

Dh back to work
Dc back to school

I am the type who normally feels sad holidays are over and kids are back and so on, but this holiday hasn’t been great and I cannot wait for 9 am tomorrow.
I intend to stop at the shop for treats and spend until pick up watching Netflix shows…blissfully alone! (aside from the dogs-who are no trouble)

The crabs in a barrel, deep deep jealousy some have for anyone having an ounce of anything good in this country needs to be studied. It’s a cultural mental illness.

People would rather we were all poor and miserable 24/7 than try and recognise/find positives in their own lives.

This is how we ended up with Brexit, losing hundreds of billions of pounds a year.

OP do you not realise that a large majority of people reading this will in fact be going back to work having had very little break at all.

And? Too bad for them who cares??

I am gobsmacked at replies on this thread. Assuming the OPs situation because she's excited for a day for herself.
Honestly even if she never worked it's no one's fucking business. She said she was excited for a day for herself I missed the bit where she asked people to criticise her lifestyle and guess if she worked or not. How about not making assumptions and making shit up.

My God you people will look for any excuse to have a crack. For all the negative ones I hope you have a shit day working I hope it's long and tiresome and I hope you have to work 80 hours a week to scrape by in your housing commission rentals.
You all suck the life out of innocent joy so if that's how you're entering 2026.. May it be a shit year for you..

Enjoy any day you get to yourself op and have a sneaky drink to cheers all the jealous people who are working their mundane jobs for peanuts. They should have made better choices in life and work.

I swear there are NO threads where people can have a friendly chat without a bunch of welfare recipients banging on about their misery..

I'm not working tomorrow, I'll think of all the wingers on this thread as I have a lie in and enjoy the fact you fuckwit wingers are working..

Now you miserable ones, go report this post because it called you out and have it removed. That's what happens here when someone says something someone doesn't like or can't handle. Maybe spend the time getting a better job that allows you to have some time to yourself as well.

I think, but someone might be able to correct me on this, you can have your benefits paid directly to UberEats and cut out that extra layer of admin.

I'd do that personally but I am too busy being a tax payer and keeping the country running.

I've got mine split; half to Uber Eats and half to the Off Licence. My landlord goes to the offy to ask if there's any cash left when the rent is due.

This is terrible OP.

Have you never heard of a banking app?

Have your benefits paid straight to your account and then get Uber Eats to deliver.

You shouldn't have to suffer collecting benefits in the cold! Wink

I’m dropping the car at garage 0800 then back to bed! Kids have flown.

You should be ashamed, get yourself down to the local soup kitchen.

What is it about toilets and sinks? I go in there and theres either a poo with no toilet roll so ive got a crusty bum hole running around somewhere. Or a blocked toilet with about half a roll of toilet roll. And toys in the sink, tiny little ones which are perfect for getting stuck. Im counting down the hours. Bye darling have a lovely day, shut door, thank fuck for that, nap time! 🤣🤣

He also likes to sit in the bloody sink if I don't catch him in time.

I’m picking up my benefits in the morning, ordering a Maccy D’s, lying on the sofa all day watching This morning, Loose women then Netflix

I’m also very jealous of this day 😂

I am so looking forward to tomorrow and hoping the schools are open and the roads passable. My dd was on an inset today so wouldn’t let me put the decorations away. I am so looking forward to a day where DH is at work I drop both little darlings off in the morning and can spend the day putting the house straight (followed by frowsting in front of the TV).
Are you working tomorrow OP or will you be able to carve out some Netflix time?

It’s so funny just how many jealous people on this thread are showing their arse 😂 taking aim at unemployed people, sahp, part time people or just anyone that may have some time outside of work to enjoy themselves. I think OP was right to enjoy her life, hope she had a lovely day!

Wales, we're quite rural though

My partner is back at work and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Can get the baby back in routine, no more making endless meals/snacks/drinks and having to go out constantly. We didn’t get out pjs until 11 and having a lovely chilled day with her toys and books. Been looking forward to this!

It's honestly really weird that you chose that light-hearted post to respond to. There were people having a go at the op because they assumed she didn't work and they had to. That person you've responded was not one of them

They mentioned not having a day to themselves in a very light hearted, non self pitying way while encouraging the op to make the most of it.

Didn't come across as lighthearted to me. It came across as "well I don't get one so poor me but have fun nevertheless"

I agree that all the other race-to-the-bottom posts are equally as cheesy.

SNOW DAY!!!

That serves me right for getting excited about having something just for me 😩😅

O what a shame!

At least you know now never to post about something you are looking forward to, unless you've checked that every single person on Mumsnet can also benefit from it.

Taweofterror · 05/01/2026 11:16

ktopfwcv · 05/01/2026 11:11

Brilliant. So PP didn't need to throw a pity party because OP is excited for her day.

People don't enjoy lows, that's what makes them lows. And yes of course they can enjoy highs.

What on earth are you on about?
