I don't know if my mum rage is out of control but I went to Asda pizza counter and they were closing so I was told as soon as I joined the queue of 2 people that they were shut. They don't display time and the lights were on, so I was a bit annoyed. I went to look at the premade pizzas, very annoyed but I didn't say anything to the lady. She then asked how many pizzas I wanted, I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter. Aibu - either shut and be shut, or serve people?

OP, everyone is trying to explain to you that even though she told you they are shut, she might have seen your disappointment and decided to accommodate you. Just because she didn’t ask question exactly the way you wanted (I can squeeze you in if you only want one) doesn’t mean she didn’t thunk that. People think and talk differently - everyone on this thread except you understood her question in a way that she had second thoughts and wanted to help you provided you don’t expect 5-10 pizzas. Instead of arguing with everyone on this thread why don’t you actually consider for a second that maybe she did think that and then you were rude in your reply,

My sympathies OP, it can be annoying. I was once waiting in Pizza Hut and the lady said, "How many pizzas do you want? 'Cos we're shutting soon."

I replied, "Well I only wanted one, but since you're shutting soon, PLEASE DON'T BOTHER!"

There are reasons someone might say they couldn't help, but then offer to. Shockingly this might have been kindness. Even more shockingly people probably do this less because of customers like you who think they're being clever by reacting like you did...and then posting about it on the Internet.

Seriously, why on earth do you think she was asking you how many pizzas you wanted? Do you really think she was just being nosy? What possible further context could be needed? They only possible reason for her asking was so that she could make you your flipping pizzas.

Because the offer would have come next, after hearing your answer to her question. If you had said one or two she would have offered to make you them. If you had said twelve she would have said i can make you one or two but not twelve. As you were rude she didn't offer to make any.
