I don't know if my mum rage is out of control but I went to Asda pizza counter and they were closing so I was told as soon as I joined the queue of 2 people that they were shut. They don't display time and the lights were on, so I was a bit annoyed.

I went to look at the premade pizzas, very annoyed but I didn't say anything to the lady. She then asked how many pizzas I wanted, I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter.

Aibu - either shut and be shut, or serve people?

She was closing. She decided she would hang around for an extra minute or two to do you a favour and you were rude. You are being unreasonable.

Throwmoneyatit · 06/01/2026 15:25

You sound exactly like my kids... when they were toddlers...

It's not a good thing by the way, just in case you had to question that.

The ‘Coldsoreupnose’ poster was pretending to be the OP, and has been deleted.

Or it was the OP under a new name via VPN tech or re-registration, and deleted.

What a waste of a life.

the posts certainly had the same bad attitude vibe anyway 😂

She has, she’s just posting under a different name.

Name changes mid thread are not supposed to be possible any more so I assume the OP has two accounts, possibly for sock puppetting or trolling, all of which are against MN T&Cs.

Worth reporting imo.

I was just coming back to see if OP had come back. And no, I have never seen a more BU post here. Good luck to her in real life

I think we’re getting to the crux of the matter here. What is it about our fucked-up country that has anything to do with the woman on the pizza counter?

OK, maybe she spoke to you rudely or dismissively, or didn’t slither up your arse to make your pizzas, but stewing on this so much you had to start a thread on here? That’s some deep anger going on!

What’s mum rage?

i was just using her language. God knows. I feel like I have endless bottomless rage - like I’m a volcano, fury is my default go-to emotion, I am powered by pure anger - and even I would have told the Asda lady how many pizzas I needed and listened to see if she could help me at all, and even if she couldn’t, be grateful that she went out of her way to find me after her shift and try - so god knows what the OP describes as mum rage.

It’s not a rage I’m familiar with and I’m essentially Thanos ;-)

DoAWheelie · 04/01/2026 16:37

WaitingfortheThingtoHappen · 04/01/2026 15:22

Perhaps she was closing at the end of her shift, but thought she might help you anyway.

If you hadn't been so abominably rude to her you would be enjoying your pizza now instead of sitting on Mumsnet being abominably rude to people replying to your post.

You will probably find the world a better place for you and everyone you meet if you stop being so rude. Try being nice in future and control your "mumrage" (whatever the fuck that is).

Cancel the cheque

She didn't try and help me
She told me the pizza counter was shut. Then proceeded to ask me how many pizzas I was buying. How is that any of her business?

hows your pizza op

Stucknstoopit · 04/01/2026 14:10

@mumanger did you have a recent post about dating and being ghosted and finding it hurtful and confusing?
your message replies and attitude reads exactly the same way

You need to get a stronger backbone if stuff like this bothers you

Anjin · 04/01/2026 10:42

When I read “mum rage” I keep thinking of the character Mumm-ra. Just for context, it is a mummified demon priest but was always quite bad tempered.

I can't serve you, actually I will

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 03/01/2026 19:57

@Didshejustsaythatoutloud I was really just trying to squeeze in a (rubbish) pizza pun..Although I stopped using Asda after we moved away to the other side of the town here and I don't miss it at all. Had one or two incidents with bolshy people in the car parks that put me off the place. Maybe one of them was with Op in her mum rage :)

😂 she's definately started a thing, mum rage indeed 😂

tequilam0ckingbird · 04/01/2026 08:47

I strongly suspect the op is bored and arguing for the sake of it.

You are probably correct since name change to reflect her mum rage anger at lack of pizza. Is 'mum rage' a new thing? Is it more acceptable than 'dad rage' or 'supermarket rage'?

Frivolity90 · 04/01/2026 09:54

You need to get a life OP.

UniquePinkSwan · 04/01/2026 09:44

You are why I will never work retail again

rainbowstardrops · 04/01/2026 09:42

This is clearly a wind up.
Don’t feed the hairy handed one Asda pizza

Ihatetomatoes · 04/01/2026 09:32

YABU

What's 'mum rage'. Just sounds like rage.

Calm down a bit, it makes life nicer for everyone.

MusicCuresAll · 04/01/2026 09:30

MissDoubleU · 03/01/2026 23:22

Exactly.

Imagine going into the hairdresser 5 minutes before they close and say you want a service. She says “no I’m sorry, I’m about to close.” But before you walk out the door she shouts: “well what is it you’re actually after?”
Lets examine some possible answers
A ) I just want my fringe trimmed (a 5 minute job)
B) I want a cut and blow dry (a 40 minute job)
C) I want a new client style consultation (a 10-30 minute job she won’t want to rush)

The question is valid because if it is scenario A then quickly trimming your fringe and sending you off won’t have her close too much later than normal and she can still get home in time to make her kids tea.
If, however, you were thinking of scenario B or C then this would not be feasible.

You reply: “Well you said you were closed!” And slam the door, having to deal with your Claudia Winkleman fringe blinding you for another day.

Realistically your pizza girl was done and should have been packing up and cleaning and shutting things down. Not making fresh pizza. She it of kindness had a second thought that she would squeeze you in anyway, provided it’s a reasonable request that she can finish in time.

If you can’t see you’ve been rude and snappy now there’s really no helping you.

Edited

Claudia Winkleman fringe lol!

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:08

She was an arse by telling me straight away she was shut. And then rudely ask "how many pizzas do you want" without putting any context in it

It's not "being as arse" to tell a customer a counter is closed. Do you think the same when a checkout puts its closed sign out just as you get there? It's a but frustrating but it's not personal, it's just store operations. I think what happened is after she'd told customers the counter was closed she saw you looking at the pre-made and thought she'd do something nice like ask "how many do you need". Why has her asking in that way particularly made you so annoyed? Seems perfectly reasonable to ask that. If you answered "I need a dozen" then she'd answer "ah, nevermind then, if it was 1 or 2 I'd have done them quick for you". And if you'd answered "I need 2", no doubt she'd have said "I'll do them for you, just don't tell everyone wink wink". She was doing her job, closing the counter at the time she is told to, but tried to do something nice after seeing you at the pre-made pizzas. I really can't understand why this bothered you so much.

GalaxyJam · 04/01/2026 09:13

tequilam0ckingbird · 04/01/2026 08:46

OP actually knows what she meant. The title of the thread tells us that. Not sure why she's suddenly pretending she didn't know.

Exactly, I don’t know why the OP is suddenly pretending she didn’t know the woman had changed her mind and was going to serve her when it’s clear from the OP that she did.
