Peri peri menopausal.

AIBU to think this is a great joke? My partner came up with it this morning and isn't as proud of it as I think he should be.

YANBU - it's hilarious
YABU - it's only worthy of a cheap Christmas cracker

I knew a guy that had a real thing about Barry Manilow, followed him round the world, spent months in Vegas for his residencies sort of thing. He even went as far as attaching three big old rotator blades to his head. He was a huge fan alright.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/12/2025 23:20

II’m confused by your voting options. Cracker jokes are brilliant 😂

XenoBitch · 30/12/2025 22:58

If you get pregnant in the Amazon rainforest, you get next day delivery.

MyThreeWords · 30/12/2025 22:58

Where does a shy person sit in a Nandos?

At the peri periphery.

MyThreeWords · 30/12/2025 22:56

How did the submarine commander know her Nandos delivery was about to arrive?

She saw the Deliveroo boatman through her peri periscope.

MyThreeWords · 30/12/2025 22:53

Where does a chemistry teacher sit in a Nandos?

At the peri periodic table.

CB2611 · 30/12/2025 22:53

I read your title and immediately thought "grandos"

MyThreeWords · 30/12/2025 22:46

I think it is a great joke of the Christmas cracker variety. I love daft puns like that -- groanworthy and fun.

Not ageist and not sexist. The hostility in this thread is unbelievably daft.

And so what if other people thought of the joke too? I don't think the OP's DH was copying them -- it is a pun that is just begging to be made, so lots of people will have made it independently

My gran fell asleep in a restaurant the other day. It was ok, as it was a Nandos.

Now that did make me chuckle!

ZeldaFighter · 30/12/2025 21:57

Well, my husband is delighted that several random anonymous women on the Internet liked his joke 😀 we also both laughed at the lady who doesn't know any 4yos making puns based on lesser known alcoholic drinks - I'm sure plenty of parts of the UK has them!

The lady who said he wasn't funny made him cry though 😞

You missed out the two 'N's

Iamsaved1995 · 30/12/2025 17:57

I thought it was funny 🤷‍♀️🤣 my OH agrees

How can people get their knickers in such a twist over small things like this?

RosesAndHellebores · 30/12/2025 17:51

Probably Carol, Debbie or Fiona. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I like it. I struggle to see what's misogynistic here.

That's because there is absolutely nothing misogynistic about it.

AhBiscuits · 30/12/2025 16:39

Everyone was constantly telling me that I should give up my hobby of pretending to be a flamingo. I had to put my foot down.

That’s avian-ist!

I posted that it was ageist crap. I don't know why that's been deleted.

Maybe because it isn’t?

Anotherdayanothernight · 30/12/2025 17:25

It’s funny, I’m perimenopausal but would never be seen in Nando’s anyway

Green2013 · 30/12/2025 17:21

BatchCookBabe · 30/12/2025 14:17

It is a little bit... As a pp said, no-one ever makes 'jokes' about men getting middle aged spread, having no (or little) sex drive, and having mood swings....etc...

It's largely women who are the butt of this type of 'joke. As I said, I'm not offended or bothered by it, but I think others have a right to be, without being told to 'get a grip.'

No one ever makes jokes about men? Are you sure about that?

This wasn’t even a joke about women. It’s like people consider menopause a dirty word.

Crabapplepiechart · 30/12/2025 11:48

Deary me, I didn't think acknowledging basic female biology would get him accused of being a misogynist AND an ageist!

First day on Mumsnet is it? 😂

You think a play on words, based on the association of ‘peri peri’ with Nando’s and ‘peri’ with “perimenopausal women”, displays or promotes prejudice/discrimination against older adults?

Can you explain why, or how?

DappledThings · 30/12/2025 16:51

How is it ageist though? Perimenopause is a thing. It usually happens in middle age. Not exclusively but it's rare to be earlier.
