Sheffield fargate m&s urgent help needed

does anyone know anyone who works there please? Someone stole an item out my hands today in a different store and it’s the only store with stock of the item which I’ve hunted everywhere for but I can’t get through to store only a central call centre; anyone know how I can before I drive all that way for potentially wasted journey please?

I'd happily pop over to Hedge End M&S if that helps. In fact I'm heading that way soon and they're open.

Unfortunately, the website has 1038 bags, so I might need a steer!

No worries and you’re welcome. I shall finish my shopping trip with some dim sum now instead. (And I got a 50% off Rosie HW lounge set that I wouldn’t have seen if I didn’t pop in there - so thank you actually!) Hope you get hold of it! I wonder how many naysayers on here upturn heaven and earth to get something their kid has asked for for Christmas?! It’s no different! If I’m in the area then why wouldn’t I want to do a favour if I was able? Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm 100% not going to buy the bag. I had one I love for Christmas with cows and sheep on. I'm not very M&S. I'm surprised they let me in.

Just a warning - I was after some shoes from M&S earlier this year. Website showed a store had two in my size. Went all the way only to see that they didn’t have any. Employee at the store said one had been used on a mannequin and was no longer available and the other she had no idea about. So be prepared for the stock info not being right!

Why not? Sometimes MumSnet people enjoy helping.

In the olden days you could ring an M&S branch and they'd put things aside for you until the end of the day, but they weren't meant to do it with sale stock.

Christ, can you imagine if every one who fancied a certain item in the M&S sale contacted a store - by phone - to check stock before they travelled, on the day after Boxing Day?

And given the stock checker online isn’t accurate, this would mean placing each caller on hold whilst they go to the shop floor in person, then take said item to a separate area to hold - not knowing if said customer is going to come back for it or not…and if they do, it would mean another staff member leaving the shop floor to go back to the separate area to retrieve it.

all whilst the item would sell anyway if the item was left on the shop floor?!

OP, if you can't track it down over the weekend and are still desperate, I will look for it at Finsbury Pavement (Moorgate) , if you think that they might have it next week. I live in Central London.

I think you should risk being open about the bag. I don’t think you’re going to get a flood of people from here going to buy it just so you can’t have it. I will probably visit both the M&S branches on Oxford Street on Monday and would be happy to have a look. I don’t know how reliable online stock checks are so it could be at lots of different branches where it says out of stock and vice versa.
