Aibu to cancel order from fox hunting supporting company?

I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s a first world problem but we ordered our kitchen from Neptune. The shop was close by, the styles were what fits the house and the people selling were cooperative.
To my surprise, I opened socials today to find out, that they support fox hunting with those stupid costumes, horses, dogs and all the pretentiousness. Seriously, Neptune think that the Ultra high networth people will go for their products instead of bespoke or some other eye watering expensive brand like Clive Christian or Officine Gullo hence the support? And when I commented it, they delete my comments.
Am I wrong to cancel my kitchen as I have time to do it.
I’m not one of those totalitarian vegans but a blood sport like this in 2025 in Britain?

I haven’t seen their socials, but could they be opposing Labour’s plan to ban trail hunting? From what I’ve read trail hunting doesn’t involve purposely hunting live animals but allows for all the centuries old traditions around fox hunting go ahead. Seems reasonable to oppose that ban to me.

Foxes get killed just the same.

AmyDuPlantier · 27/12/2025 11:33

I unfollowed quite a few companies and accounts yesterday who posted this shit. Most odd public stance to take.

Trail hunting is a smokescreen for illegal hunting and certainly does involve chasing wild animals to their death.

Drag hunting and clean boot hunting OTOH, do not involve chasing wildlife and, had hunts got their act together 20 years ago, would be what they could all be doing. But no, they had to continue to fulfill their bloodlust and keep killing.

I too would cancel any order made to a company that's known to support hunting, I wouldn't want them getting a penny off me and, if I was cancelling an order having found out about their support I would let them know exactly why I'd cancelled.

I oppose fox hunting and boxing - both disgusting and should be 100% banned.

Still not getting the link here… adults choosing to participate in a dangerous sport is nothing like ripping a defenceless animal apart.

Besides, there are plenty more dangerous sports than boxing.

Presumavly everyone on this thread who opposes fox hunting also opppses boxing?

What has a pair of people who have consented and trained to be able to participate in a bout have to do with having a bunch of people in fancy outfits go after (or pretend to not go after) a fox with a load of dogs that will chase it down and rip it to pieces for shits and giggles?

If it had ever been about pest control, it would be the most inefficient and expensive method ever - a bloke with a gun could do it far more cleanly, effectively and cheaply. Foxhunting is about entertainment and the feeling of power over a tiny animal's life and thundering around the countryside on a large animal with a bunch of equally minded mates.

Banning trail hunting because some abuse it to actually get foxes is a bit like banning shopping because some people shoplift, or banning trains because some people fare-dodge.

I’ll admit I thought trail hunting was ok. But it clearly isn’t, as I’ve just been reading about it.

From hunt sab websites?

Floisme · 27/12/2025 11:16

I’m totally against killing animals for recreation but, unless I’ve been misinformed, trail hunting strikes me as no more silly than city dwellers driving miles out to the countryside, walking round in a bloody great circle and then driving home. By all means cancel the order if you want to and can do so but don’t ask me to admire you for it.

Stilish · 27/12/2025 11:09

Fox hunting is illegal.

Trail hunting is not illegal, and does not involve foxes. I trail hunt every week with my children…so I do know more than people who don’t. I don’t want to see foxes harmed, and I wouldn’t go if it was just a ‘smokescreen.’ Trail hunting is a huge part of rural life, hunts provide employment and are the framework for the social calendar. It is healthy, outdoor exercise.

Since the ban, there have been more than 250,000 days trail hunting, and fewer than 50 convictions. So, as laws go, this one is incredibly well adhered-to. NO law is never ever broken.

This isn’t about animal welfare.
This is just another step in Labour’s war on the countryside.

I do, but I’m wondering what your link is.

Boxers have a choice; foxes do not.

I guess they’re sort of similar: boxing and foxing; fox hunting and box hunting.

It’s easiest to just cancel them both to avoid confusion.

Companies don’t have values. People do. And people run/work in companies.
This doesn’t look like a well thought through PR campaign where all the major players in a company have sat round the board room table and said yes! this is important, this is the image we want to project. It looks like one person who has a hand in running the social media stuff saw an eye catching event outside the window, took a picture and posted it, then regretted it and took it down when it became clear this is a controversial subject. Sometimes this stuff is not that deep. Kitchens have nothing to do with foxes. Probably one person connected with this company made a poor PR choice. It doesn’t speak for all the other people connected with to the company including the people installing the kitchens, the people working in the factories that make the components, delivering the materials, creating the designs, and all the other jobs that are connected to you getting a new kitchen installed.

I agree with this - now that you have shared the post

the company does not “support fox hunting”

Most certainly cancel. Also Neptune are style over quality. They look tremendous in the showroom they really do but do not do great after sales support and service.

I think boxing is barbaric. But as pp said boxers choose to take part, unlike the foxes.

I think it’s a bit of a leap to assume they support fox hunting based on a photo of their local town featuring people who aren’t fox hunting.

Right?

I've just looked into this because I was so puzzled

Because the OP specifically mentioned fox hunting, I assumed it was a historical photo.

But it's actually a photo from yesterday - so not a photo about fox hunting.

Trail hunts often lead to foxes being ripped apart because they don’t control the dogs adequately. They’re all ex hunters, so it’s a bonus for them.

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/12/2025 10:54

Stick to your ethics. I haven’t set foot in Lush for years after they accepted large donations from the league against cruel sports. I’ll keep Neptune in mind if ever I need a kitchen personally.

Salvadoridory · 27/12/2025 10:53

Bombinia · 27/12/2025 10:49

Cancel and tell them why. Post on socials to say you are doing it and tag them, and email the CEO.

They need to know, and be accountable for their support of animal cruelty.

This is what I mean, its all about selfncongratupation anyway and what makes us feel virtuous. Otherwise people wouldn't be posting whilst wearing knickers stitched by cruelly treated children thousands of miles away, eating meat from slaughterhouses crueller than a hunt dog would have dreamed of and so on. I am a vegetarian but wear leather handbags which are resulting from the same cruel, mocking, pain and humiliating deaths in the hands of really hateful people. We are all hypocrites.
