Aibu to cancel order from fox hunting supporting company?

I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s a first world problem but we ordered our kitchen from Neptune. The shop was close by, the styles were what fits the house and the people selling were cooperative.
To my surprise, I opened socials today to find out, that they support fox hunting with those stupid costumes, horses, dogs and all the pretentiousness. Seriously, Neptune think that the Ultra high networth people will go for their products instead of bespoke or some other eye watering expensive brand like Clive Christian or Officine Gullo hence the support? And when I commented it, they delete my comments.
Am I wrong to cancel my kitchen as I have time to do it.
I’m not one of those totalitarian vegans but a blood sport like this in 2025 in Britain?

From the news

Secret cameras have recorded huntsmen shooting and killing hounds that had been used for hunting.
The pictures, filmed by anti-hunting groups the Hunt Investigation Team and Keep the Ban and shared exclusively with ITV News, is the first time footage of a hunt shooting its hounds has been shown publicly.
Hounds can be killed for several reasons including being too old to hunt, or if they get ill or injured. The practice is not illegal.
The pictures were taken at the kennels of the Duke of Beaufort's Hunt in Badminton, Gloucestershire. The Duke of Beaufort's Hunt told ITV News that its hounds are "humanely euthanised" if they cannot be rehomed. It added that the majority of hounds are "unsuitable for rehoming" because "they are not house-trained and have only ever been used to living in a pack environment".
The secret footage, recorded over several periods between April and September, shows four separate examples of hounds being shot:

  • In two cases, a huntsman is seen putting a gun to the head of the hound and killing it.
  • In another, the hound appears to be unwell and is carried onto the grass by the hunt staff before being shot.
  • Another shows the hound being shot twice, three minutes apart.
Watch the secret footage at a hunt's kennels where hounds were filmed being shot dead This video contains distressing images

Rob Pownall, Keep The Ban founder, said: "It's some pretty upsetting footage but this is commonplace for hunts across the country. This is not an acceptable way to end an animal's life. These hounds suffered immense pain. "The activities shown in the video aren't actually illegal, but there's no moral defence for what's shown."
The footage comes ahead of a vote later this month by National Trust membersto decide whether trail hunts on its land should be banned during the next hunting season.
The National Trust suspended all trail hunting licences last year, alongside a host of other large landowners including Forestry England, following a report by ITV News about the content of webinars hosted by the Hunting Office.

Hounds can be killed for several reasons, including being too old to hunt or if they get ill.
Conservative MP Tracey Crouch, who is co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare, said the footage of the hounds being shot dead is "absolutely heartbreaking" and "distressing".
"I don't understand why a dog...needs to be euthanised in this way and I am sure there are much more compassionate ways of putting a dog to sleep", Ms Crouch told ITV News.
"We have many working dogs across this country in different sectors, such as, for example, the police or army, and I doubt very much that those kinds of dogs are put to sleep with a bolt to the head, so I don't quite understand why it is appropriate for hunting hounds to be euthanised this way."
After watching the secret filming, Mike Jessop, a fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, said that from what he saw, he did not believe the huntsmen were professionally trained in putting animals down."There was no evidence of [the huntsperson] being veterinary trained or veterinary surgeons. The lack of use of any veterinary equipment that one would expect such as stethoscopes to ascertain the dogs were dead was just lacking", he said."The evidence from the video doesn't show any illegal activity. My concern is whether there is any suffering after the shot, because nobody is being careful enough in checking the dogs are truly dead."In one of the videos, the [hound's] tail was still waggling very vigorously for quite some time, even when the dog was being loaded in the wheelbarrow.
"I would question, and be concerned, that that dog was still sentient, and therefore had the ability to feel pain.""I would hope that the procedure was being done by a veterinary surgeon in a more humane way, by use of lethal injection, rather than bullet."

Thats a good point. Do these folk also object to the travellers coursing? Do they sabotage those bastards trespassing, abusing their dogs and delighting in the blood? No, because they are scary fuckers and not posh. As I mentioned, hypocrites.

Yes I do disagree with coursing. Why pose a question just to answer it in your own made-up way. 🤔

MNLurker1345 · 27/12/2025 14:17

This is an interesting thread. OP your AIBU question was clearly to start
the debate into this controversial topic.

I say this because I presume that you are a women that knows her own convictions and do not really need MNetters to tell you what to do, regarding your kitchen supplier.

On the point of the controversial topic of trail hunting, this is as we
all know a current news story and as PPs have alluded to, this government and some of its supporters do seem to be on a mission to expose their dislike of “posh people”.

Now, where did I get from OPs original post to class hatred by way of a kitchen.

But anyway I digress, OP, YANBU for wanting to cancel your kitchen if the supplier supports illegal fox hunting but YABU for asking MN if you should.

I personally have no feelings either way. I do live in the countryside and I will admit to getting a little thrill when I see them out in “those stupid costumes, horses, dogs and all the pretentiousness”.

This is what I mean, its all about selfncongratupation anyway and what makes us feel virtuous. Otherwise people wouldn't be posting whilst wearing knickers stitched by cruelly treated children thousands of miles away, eating meat from slaughterhouses crueller than a hunt dog would have dreamed of and so on. I am a vegetarian but wear leather handbags which are resulting from the same cruel, mocking, pain and humiliating deaths in the hands of really hateful people. We are all hypocrites.

Well I'm vegan and am careful about where I buy things from and what they are made of, so speak for yourself.

It is true
There are images of some being shots
repirts from riders
Investigations
and
Even Countryside Alliance admit to about 3000 a year being shot
with others stating the figure is more 7000

As said already in this thread, people who are against hunting need to avoid Boden. I believe Jonnie Boden is closely involved with the Portman hunt. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c99vyvn28gxo?app-referrer=deep-link

No argument there. I’d be banned here if I expanded on my opinions re that community’s attitude to animal welfare. (Horses in particular)

It’s not an attack on rural life. Plenty of people grew up and live in the countryside and abhor fox trail hunting. This includes many farmers around here - they often trample their crops.

Absolutely. Then the land owners get accused of being 'sabs' when they ask trespassers to leave as a fair chunk of the hunters are not rural, have no idea that they are infact illegally trespassing or any idea of who actually owns the land as they are unfamiliar with the area or what actually goes on at these meet ups. The genuinely wealthy have enough land to ride their horses so have no need to trespass hunt IME.

I said ‘no law is never broken.’ Re read.

Apologies, I am dyslexic so do make the odd comprehension error. So with your double negative you’re agreeing that laws are broken. Which seems to go against the general gist of your post saying that the law is very well adhered to. It’s not if people are getting successfully prosecuted especially if those prosecutions are the tip of the iceberg.

Maybe hunt supporters need to blame those 50 people who have been prosecuted . If everyone else genuinely is adhering to the law then they’ve spoilt it for everyone else.

as far as I know the govt are also looking at other areas of animal cruelty as part of this move. Animal testing is another thing to be banned. Puppy farming, boiling lobsters alive, electric shock collars. So it isn’t a campaign against rural people, or “toffs” as some people seem to be saying.

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 27/12/2025 13:09

Ultra high networth people will go for their products [...] hence the support?

I'm against hunting too but you are mistaken in thinking it's just, or even mostly, rich people.

Proper rich people have perfectly ordinary, straightforward shooting parties.

Given how the Sab act and the trail hunters act, personally I would not buy from any company that was "Sab approved" instead.

Out local trail hunt (clean boot) brings the dogs to the country show and its one of the highlights, 50 odd hounds and 100s of children playing with them.

Boxing I would certainly ban, MMA for sure too. Also I would ban city dwellers from having SUVs and chealsea tractors.

Banning trail hunting because some abuse it to actually get foxes is a bit like banning shopping because some people shoplift, or banning trains because some people fare-dodge.

Shop lifters and fare dodgers aren’t generally ripped to shreds by hounds if they’re caught.

mmmcoffeeandcake · 27/12/2025 13:04

Totally reasonable cancel them!

Glad you highlighted this as they were my first choice for my new kitchen next year! Not now!
