Are you feeling positive about 2026?

Maybe it's a hang over from feeling so blah about Christmas but I'm not feeling particularly optimistic about 2026. I've no reason to feel apprehensive about it but here we are. I'm not superstitious but feel like the next 12 months is going to be tough for my family. Obviously I hope that I'll be digging up this post this time next year pointing out that I was talking crap.

Do you think it will be a good year for you?

I feel like it could go either way - either totally amazing or totally shit. Hopefully it's just an average boring year though. 🤞

No, the last few years have been dreadful, my mental health is at rock bottom, I work for a university so have the constant threat of redundancy hanging over me whilst feeling pressure to work harder and harder.
Family situation very difficult. I feel very sad and lonely most of the time and I can't see anything changing other than for the worse.

Oh I really hope you’re wrong and you have a great year. I’m feeling good about 2026, I enjoy making plans between Xmas and new year :) got a spa evening with a pal on Jan 2nd to kick things off! Doing a big walk with a big group of friends at some point, and going to Slovenia. So if nothing else, those will be nice!

Very. I’m retiring at the end of Dec 26 after 37 years nursing. Will be counting the weeks!

No. My husband was made redundant in October and it’s badly affected his mental health.
No response to 300+ applications. I am worried that few over-50ies are getting job offers.
And I am worried about the national economy.

Yes, last couple of years have been dreadful but I’ve sought help which has been really beneficial and I have a few plans for next year which are really exciting.

I'm feeling pretty optimistic about my own and immediate families lives-but not about the state of the country or world affairs.
