Personally I don’t really once Boxing Day is over it’s over for me.

I do. We usually have lunch with friends on NYE, then we host my mum for a roast lunch/cooked lunch of some sort and dessert NYD, pulling crackers, playing board games, etc.

I am Christmas mad though- our celebrations start on 1st Dec and end the last day of the Christmas hols. We spend every day of the school holidays doing festive activities with our children, eating lovely food, watching Xmas movies and playing games. Utter bliss!

ColinOfficeTrolley · 25/12/2025 21:12

I'm back in work on 5th Jan so up until the 4th, is the festive period to me 🎉🤗

LoveTheDarts · 25/12/2025 21:10

Christmas period finishes once the World Championship finishes - Jan 3rd :) equally the festive period starts once the Championship starts.

Nourishinghandcream · 25/12/2025 21:09

Absolutely.👍
We don't keep the decs up until 12th night but certainly do until after NYD.
The Christmas treats, bits & pieces are still in abundance so we enjoy them.

Decs do not go up until just before 20th Dec so we don't get fed up of them early.

Dearg · 25/12/2025 20:56

In Scotland. Season is not over until 3rd Jan, or first working day thereafter.
But my decorations will be down before that as we are going away.

Cyclebabble · 25/12/2025 20:47

Yes still seasonal, but at the quieter end with the big days being Xmas day and New Years Eve for us. Good day for catching up with family you have not seen on these days.

mydogisanidiott · 25/12/2025 20:46

Of course it is! Twixmas!

the days that all merge together and you can’t remember what day it is and you turn in to a pig in a blanket.

what a weird question (not really but I cannot imagine it any other way )

Muchtoomuchtodo · 25/12/2025 20:38

I wish!

I’m lucky to get this week off work, but when I applied for this annual leave in May, the first question was ‘will you be back for w/b 29/12/25?

I will never get both weeks off work (unless I won big on the PB’s and tell my boss where to stick their job)

My tree and outside lights will stay up/on until 12th night but next week will be work as usual
for me

Fireballtime · 25/12/2025 20:23

Yes ofcourse. It seems like a new trend to try and move Christmas to Nov/early Dec.

wheresmymojo · 25/12/2025 20:23

Yes - Betwixtmas.

Its festive season from Christmas Eve until the first working day after NYE for me.

nancpmf · 25/12/2025 20:22

I do because I’m always off for 2 weeks, decorations come down after 1st Jan (usually the first weekend in Jan) so it’s festive until I’m back to work, this year the 5th!

WhatNoRaisins · 25/12/2025 20:21

Say this every year but I really wish that the school terms in England would allow for the 12 days.

DappledThings · 25/12/2025 20:21

Yes. Today is the first of the 12 days. I wouldn't dream of taking anything down before Epiphany.

EchoedSilence · 25/12/2025 20:16

I didn't put my tree up in November, but it will be down before New Year.

RaininSummer · 25/12/2025 20:15

All week til I go back to work. It's the best bit.

KimberleyClark · 25/12/2025 20:15

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 25/12/2025 20:10

Yes of course it is. It really depresses me when people think it’s all done and dusted by Boxing Day.

They are usually the ones who have had their tree up since November.

EchoedSilence · 25/12/2025 20:13

No,after Boxing day Christmas is done for me. I'm not fussed about celebrating New Year though. Plus I have 3 family birthdays next week, so like to separate those from Christmas.

Zanatdy · 25/12/2025 20:10

Yes, until 2nd Jan.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 25/12/2025 20:10

Luckyme2 · 25/12/2025 20:08

Absolutely it is. This is the festive period. Not November

WhatNoRaisins · 25/12/2025 20:08

Yes, no way am I mugging myself out of a season I really enjoy.

MasterBeth · 25/12/2025 20:06

Of course. The "festive period" is Christmas and the New Year.

TrickorTreacle · 25/12/2025 20:04

I work around Christmas including Christmas Eve, NYE and 2nd Jan and I still count Christmas until 6th Jan. Then the decorations go down.

I do think that 2nd Jan is too soon after NYD though and England/Wales should get it off like the Scots do.

Createausername1970 · 25/12/2025 19:43

Sorry, duplicate post.

vanillalattes · 25/12/2025 19:43

Definitely. The festive period for us is the two weeks we're off work (19th-5th this year). We're both self-employed so always shut down our businesses for two weeks.
