Merry Christmas everyone

Past couple of days I have seen people saying Xmas is ruined by trivial things. Such as no Xmas crackers, the turkey they ordered is smaller than planned.

Your Christmas isn’t ruined,

Christmas being ruined is when your home is flooded, had house burglary, house on fire. Being made unnecessary homeless. NOT when something trivial such as above.

Those who say Christmas is ruined because they have no Xmas crackers. You have a roof over your head, other food.

Forget the lack of crackers, smaller turkey etc and enjoy Christmas.

Well my Christmas was ruined exactly two years ago today. My son was widowed the year before and I’d gone to a massive amount of trouble to make Christmas nice for him and his children.

The dog barked when he arrived, he threw a hissy fit and walked out, leaving me with a huge amount of food. The time I’d spent preparing, shopping, moving furniture to fit everyone in and creating a play area for the little one. I have a chronic painful condition, yet l did it all, to make it nice for them.

Never again under any circumstances will I put myself out for that ungrateful bastard.

Yes, people invest a huge amount in everything being perfect and then are unable to cope with the tiniest thing isn’t perfect.

I think a lot of people put a lot of pressure on themselves to make Christmas perfect - and that is made worse by the social media image many paint of the day. When you had put yourself under that much pressure it does sometimes make you obsess unreasonably over something that is generally quite trivial.

persoanlly I’m treating it as another day because it’s what works for us. 16 year old (disabled) ds has got up and had some physio then gone back to bed. He will hopefully manage to eat a small amount at dinner with us but if he can’t that’s fine. If I get a few hours sewing I will be made up. If I don’t end up in A and E I will be happy!

Your right its just a day. One of the best Christmases we had was when dc2 was unable to eat and being tube fed. Just come out of hospital, it was great to have all the dc together, I didn't even make Christmas dinner as the other dc said they wouldn't eat it without dc2 so we had no Christmas meal, no crackers but we were all together. It definitely wasn't ruined, we all just appreciated each other being there.

People have such high expectations at this time of year, then get upset when it’s not how they thought it would be.
