My dog died today.

not Aibu but I had to have my 4year old gsd euthanised this morning. My heart feels like it’s going to just break in two. I’ve never known pain like it.

Absolutely heartbreaking. My dog died from cancer in August and I lost my other girl back in 2021 and I think of them both every day. I keep their ashes on my sideboard. It really is painful to lose a beloved pet.
I'm so sorry. I hope you can think of your happy memories together and smile ❤️

It’s such a horrible pain but it’s the last decision we make for them and you’ve done the right thing for her. I’m very sorry for your loss.

You must have shared a lot of love and happiness together for you to feel such pain today. I’m so very sad for you. Pet bereavement is awful at any age, but four is so young. Sending you love.

I'm so sorry. I lost my beautiful girl in April. The pain is unreal. Please look after yourself, eventually, you will begin to enjoy the memories.

I, too, am so sorry. I've been there and it is incredibly painful.
I spoke to Pet Bereavement Services and Blue Cross quite a lot. They understand what you're going through, and they were so lovely to me.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I had to put my dog down in the summer, it's the worse pain I have ever experienced. It does get better though and you learn to live with it somehow. I'm almost 5 months down the line and I still cry thinking about him, but it no longer happens every day, just most It helped me to get a new dog, but I know a lot of people prefer to wait longer and some people choose not to get another one at all of course.

So sorry :( that's really sad, made even worse by the fact its Xmas. My dog is 16 now, I'm absolutely dreading the day I need to make that decision.
