To feel bad for Daniella Westbrook, Katie Price, and the like?

Daniella turned to drugs as a teenager after suffering child abuse, so yes, I do feel sorry for her. I hope that she can find peace and happiness. She's the same age as me - my message to her would be time to stop giving a fuck what people think of your looks and embrace middle age.

Daniella is an addict. You don’t just give up and “live quietly and well” one day. They rarely have any money, and can rarely hold down a job.

I’d go so far as to say KP isn’t that different. Probably addicted to plastic surgery, to the validation and attention. She grew up with her looks being the focus of her being, and that’s hard to give up.

it’s clear neither of these women had people around them to support them in getting off the celeb treadmill and into living normally. They probably have agents, managers and other people encouraging them onto the next publicity stunt or “media job”. for their percentage.

someone mentioned sports- I’ve seen it there too where you have a huge machine “behind” all these athletes, when in fact the athletes are the ones being exploited for their talent, and the revenue they bring in creates jobs for the physio’s, nutritionists, managers, performance directors, coaches. It’s backwards.

I used to feel sorry for Daniella until she sold a fake pregnancy/ miscarriage story and I just decided she was a money grabbing twat.

I do however, feel enormous sympathy for KP. I think she has massive mental issues not helped by being treated badly by a succession of arseholes.

I have a lot of empathy for them too, OP. They've made bad decisions at times but they were also in industries which chew up and spit out women from very young ages.

Lauren Goodger is a poor soul.

I think the difference between her and some of the Towie girls who have been successful is that they had family support and received better business and financial advice, bought property etc.

I think Lauren had a tough upbringing, so nobody to guide her, and she isn’t bright so couldn’t do it by herself.

Despite at one point having a successful tanning line and presumably earning well from it, she doesn’t own a home and moves around various rental flats. She does OnlyFans. A friend of mine (male) looked her up once and she began bombarding him with messages wanting him to subscribe. I got the impression some of them were auto generated but some obviously weren’t.

I feel sorry for their children who will probably go on to have issues. I would also imagine that none of them had brilliant childhoods.

Daniella’s nose is appalling. I find it shocking a good surgeon couldn’t do something to fix that really. She was very naturally pretty before so it is a massive shame but I suppose she’s a good don’t do drugs kids poster girl…

I’ve always had a slight soft spot for KP. She’s odd because her family seem so stable, secure and down to earth yet she’s clearly been off the rails for many years. If you look at her siblings and how natural and regular they are in comparison it’s quite a stark contrast. I know she was sexually abused though as a teen so possibly the trauma from this.

Feel she has been used and abused a lot over the years. Peter Andre is a twat, as is her last ex husband who was charged with child molestation.

I do have some sympathy for Daniella because of how young she was, how brutal the press treatment was in the 90s and the fact the addiction has had an almost life long grip on her. I remember at one point maybe around ten years ago she seemed to be healthy and clean, living in America with her family and going to church a lot (IIRC the DM tried to claim she had joined a cult 🙄) but then her marriage ended and she went back to the coke.

Juries out on KP but I was surprised to read that she and KK are doing a bunch of live shows together talking about themselves. Who would pay to sit through that? And why?

I dont feel sorry for her, she used to live in my area and we were harrassed by phone for a week on a landline for a week by one of her dealers. I had to go to the police in the end and report.

I used to work with a former Met police officer (quite high up) who said it was common knowledge within the force that Brian Harvey essentially used to pimp out Danniella Westbrook for coke. What with the news coverage about paedophile rings, and the animosity between them, their relationship dynamics certainly have taken their toll on her over the years. I err more on the side of feeling sorry for her and can see this being true. In which case, she's been failed by multiple individuals and agencies.

Why can’t they get an office job, or any type of job? One is an ex glamour model and the other is a C list actress, hardly A list celebrities. And even they shouldn’t be above having an average job should they need to.

The kind of fame these women had was worthless, flash-in-the-pan exploitation from the very beginning. They were literally set up to become tabloid sideshows, and they willingly played along with it for easy money. They could have chosen an ordinary job at any time and walked away but they didn't want to. See also: Bonnie Blue and the likes, in 10 years time.

There lies the emotional neglect. We all know how this traumatises young people, as in we wouldn't blame survivors of the grooming gangs but it is the same thing just with different levels of money involved
