Urgh I think I was boastful at drinks last night

Didn’t mean to be necessarily, these women tend to make me feel a bit small etc. I think I was boastful on one or maybe two occasions!
Embarrassing! Hoping this is hangxiety and not as ‘bad’ as I remember.

Ah my old friend the beer fear 🤣🤣

MrsF111 · 22/12/2025 17:41

Hangiexty is one of the main reasons I stopped drinking more than a couple of glasses! I just couldn’t cope with the days of anxiety but I would say it’s ALWAYS worse in your imagination, most people will just be worried about what they said and did and won’t remember your embarrassing things

At least you didn’t get your minge out!

😂

I’ve never ever been to Blackpool so I don’t even know what I’m on about

Lol!! You sound great 🤣

hangxiety · 22/12/2025 16:37

this is why I no longer drink. Nearly 2 years since I’ve had a drop. Hence my username 🤢

DahlsChickenz · 22/12/2025 15:08

It won't be as bad as you're remembering, hangovers always make you anxious. Don't give it another thought.

Tablesandchairs23 · 22/12/2025 15:07

We've all been twats when drunk!

bumdidliumptious · 22/12/2025 14:43

I was boastful, and didn’t even have a drink. Apex school mum boasting about her high achieving children, so I made up a tonne of shit about my kids none of which was true. Felt great!!!

Merry christmas, plenty of water and have a decent dinner 😂

Yes good advice! Xx

Complimenting the hotel you stayed in and saying you had a nice holiday sounds like the sort of harmless chitchat you'd have around the table drinking tea and eating cakes.

Certainly nothing to be embarrassed about and doesn't sound like outrageous drunken bombast either.

Namechange568899542 · 22/12/2025 11:02

Also, hangxiety is a bitch. I basically stopped drinking myself because of it.

I also had a friend who suffered terribly. I’d frequently get next day texts saying “omg I’m so sorry if I annoyed you last night when I said/did XYZ” and I’d have no idea what she was on about. She’d also say stuff like “I can’t believe how I was acting when we bumped into Y last night, I’m such a mess what must they think of me” and during the whole interaction she would’ve just been stood there either doing nothing or making normal chit chat, but she’d have catastophised it in her head and convinced herself she’d made a complete fool of herself when she hadn’t and none of the things that had her cowering under her duvet in shame were things that anyone else had thought twice about.

I guess I don’t want people to think I’m a dick! Thinking about it more still, they’ve all been really braggy and boastful many, many times in front of me and I don’t really care about it!

But you don’t like them , doesn’t matter what they think of you! You don’t like them so they are allowed to not like you.

I’ve done similar when I’m feeling “less than” suppose the way out is to work on not feeling that way then you won’t brag. Your brag was probably not a brag to be honest and you are wildly overthinking . But you probably know that!

I think I said something like ‘no we went to X, not Y. I’ve heard Y is a bit like Blackpool’ urgh cringe snobby cringe!

I was repeating what I’d been told by someone. This someone I consider a snob! I did the exact same thing!

I think this is fine and that your hangxiety is turning it into something it wasn’t. It’d only be shitty if person X said they take their kids to Blackpool for a holiday every year and person Y had said they take the kids to Benidorm and you’d scoffed and said “we go to the Maldives id never take my kids to BENIDORM!!!!! You may as well have just gone to Blackpool like X”

On the presumption that is not how the conversation went and you were making a general comment about your opinion on somewhere that didn’t directly insult what someone else is doing or had done id say you’re overthinking it 😄

Whattodoo8 · 22/12/2025 10:43

It sounds like hangxiety, I suffer from it too!

The last time I went out, I worried I did this about different things. But - if most people anxiously ruminate over everything they said - that means they’re not thinking about what YOU said!

Terrytheweasel · 22/12/2025 09:45

I always talk about the lovely places I go to. People ask so I tell them - even how much the bill came to 🤣 I don’t care if it sounds boastful - that’s not my intention at all.

Can you rationalise it? So even if you were boastful what are you scared about? That you let yourself down as that’s not who you are or that people thought you were a dick? Latter , people are more forgiving or dont think about you as much as you may think they do and also you can’t control what people think, so if they like you they won’t mind and if they don’t we’ll do you care?

if it’s the former then we all slip up from time to time as no one is perfect but all that’s happening today is you have a feeling of dread , won’t kill you and it’s you that are generating that feeling. Have you a friend you can tell, sharing it helps I find.

ot di the when I’m in my death bed will this be the thing I am remembering. Or think about all the terrible faux pas people like trump or Boris johnson etc have made, and people still love them.

It's just the fear. I've definitely had it more the older I've got!

EatYourDamnPie · 22/12/2025 08:52

I mean.. if you shouted “I earn 7k a year more than you! In your faces bitches!” or “my children are so much smarter and prettier than your glue eating fugly brats” then yeah, you might have a point to be embarrassed.

If you just talked about an achievement, or an experience which just happens to be rather fancy, that’s just conversation.

Omg hahahaha
