When one of the Dead Ringers did an impression of Keir Starmer on the RVP tonight there was alot of booing.
ITV kept it in too.
How embarrassing for Starmer.

Says alot though about what people think of Starmer.😀

There's also the problem that Starmer is a charisma vacuum.

Monty27 · 22/12/2025 03:32

Not quite Glastonbury, but a jolly good show IMHO.
I wonder how the hunger strikers are. (Digress).
He deserves everything he gets.

Terrible behaviour.
Why would an adult behave like this?
It wasn't funny.
I doubt politicians bother about idiots like this though.

You mean like politicians themselves boo in thr Houses of Parliament.

Booing is not beneath them. They practically made this into a sport themselves

dailyconniptions · 22/12/2025 03:21

Yanbu. Although Starmer is utterly disliked and many people consider he is causing severe harm to our country, it was an inappropriate situation to be booing.

(Yabvvvvu, however, to write a lot as one word. It is never 'alot'.)

Meadowfinch · 22/12/2025 02:45

His govt's policies have had a negative effect on a lot of people and damaged our economy. The govt's incompetent faffing with the autumn statement caused more damage and a lot of redundancies.

In politics the stakes are high. They've cocked it up, they deserve to be booed. I have no sympathy.

It certainly says something about those who go to the Royal Variety Performance, and by extension, it says something about you.

as a performer once said, many many years ago - you don't have to clap, just jangle your jewellery.

TheAutumnCrow · 22/12/2025 02:03

The amusing thing is the left’s comical reaction. “How dare these people boo a Labour person. We’re all morally spotless and generally lovely because we’re left-wing!”

Is that on Blue Sky?

Netcurtainnelly · 22/12/2025 01:31

letsallchant · 22/12/2025 00:32

Obviously not by everyone as you don't tend to win a landslide majority in Parliament if so.

Wont get in next time though.

In my 50 years I've never felt so much absolute loathing for a politician. Starmer makes me physically sick.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 22/12/2025 01:14

I would imagine that 50% of the booing was because Starmer’s in power, i.e. just because he’s the incumbent. But he is truly loathed. And how!

The amusing thing is the left’s comical reaction. “How dare these people boo a Labour person. We’re all morally spotless and generally lovely because we’re left-wing!”

No Labour supporter will ever accept that their heroes can be shitty, self-important, arrogant, incompetent wankers. The left is a giant cult: no doubt or criticism allowed; it’s a virtuous life being left-wing; it’s beyond ridicule or reproach. 🙄

Newsflash: being left-wing doesn’t make you better, kinder, more capable or more humane than anyone else. Get over it.

Considering they’d already done Trump, Blair and Boris Johnson, and none of those got a boo, it was quite striking tbh.

Well if they don't think Trump deserves to be booed their opinion isn't worth much. Ditto Boris who helped us bumble out of the single market. They must be idiots.

Pieceofpurplesky · 22/12/2025 00:58

As an aside, Dead Ringers were embarrassingly bad.

Unless you are younger than me thats not true surely. Thatcher thatcher milk snatcher was sung in our playground for weeks.
Johnson was booed a lot as was Sunak. Truss wasn't in post enough.

The WI booed Tony Blair at the Albert Hall

I have heard more negative Keir Starmer chants, booing etc at various events (Football, boxing) than any other PM. Including Thatcher.

Watching world darts championship. The chant is “Keir Starmer is a wanker.”

I live in South Yorkshire. I doubt that there has been any politician more hated round here than Margaret Thatcher.

"I doubt politicians bother about idiots like this though."

What does this mean? What does 'bother' mean in this context

Give them a second thought.
Do you think this is the first time the PM has been booed at?

TheAutumnCrow · 21/12/2025 23:49

Netcurtainnelly · 21/12/2025 23:37

Its neither here not there what I think.

It just shows how much hate there is out there for the real Keir Starmer.

That’s very dramatic, OP.

It was a caricature of Starmer being portrayed, you say. An impersonation. An impression. So your thread title is misleading.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 21/12/2025 23:46

Which of any prime minister or leader of a political party recently would not be booed by a mixed audience? I remember George Osborne appearing to deafening boos and jeers at the 2012 Olympics.

TheAutumnCrow · 21/12/2025 23:45

Eggybreadwithnuts · 21/12/2025 23:44

Looking at the audience, most looked very wealthy!

Rattling their jewellery.
