To say fuck it & open the Christmas wine?

Fuck Christmas, fuck Mariah Cariah, fuck gift buying. I hate this charade every year. I've been dumped on a taxi driver for my teens, my ex is going away for NY and my partner hates Christmas even more than I do. Everyone is grabby and I've run out of cash. I hate feeling inadequate and unloved over it all. Gonna go and hide with the claret. Might open the special crisps, too. Fuck off Christmas. Anyone joining me?

Your season sounds dreadful. Have that drink and try to care less for people who do not treat you better.

My mum and dad had the Christmas wine delivered in October (drank it) then again in November (drank it) and finally in December.

Every time only the avocaat (ghastly egg based drink) was left every month.

Mum died last month and I used that memory in the eulogy.

Sympathy Bobishere I was diagnosed in August and am going through chemo just now, so I'm feeling crap and ignoring Christmas.

Having ordered my xmas booze and food for a click and collect on Tues evening...I decided to celebrate early on my way home from my last day of work until Saturday (I drew the lucky straw!) and bought a bottle of port which has been opened.

At least OP, the shops will still be open next week so you can always buy some more if you need to replace it..

For next year, I have decided to Christmas like a man and wait for some Christmas fairy to come along and plan and do everything.

I told DH I would cook the dinner but I didn’t want to do anything else this year. He’s actually managed to sort most things! He’s spent about 10 grand in m&s, bought the most random assortment of gifts for our DC but I’m pretty impressed. Have done a stock check today of his purchases and only need to get four more things. He’ll be back out tomorrow to replenish the wine I’m making a dent in though

I usually get it at Christmas, too, but not this year. Well done on taking ownership. Yes, we deserve all the nice things! Feeling sorry for myself for not having Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone era in my life. I bet he hated Christmas, too.

Christmassing like a man sounds like a good plan. I divorced mine because he was too loving of Christmas but not of the workload, so it has been better in the past few years.

It's just an extra thing to do, but I want to make it special for the family too for obvious reason. So I'm conflicted, but maybe wine will help with that? 🤔

I'm so sorry. This time of year just rubs salt into wounds. Exactly that, an extra thing to do and I'm sorry you have this added pressure. Totally understand - and been there - over the wanting to make it special. You need extra special wine! Thinking of you, I really have been in that position and feel extra wounded at being on my own and having to go through this rigmarole every year.

😂 My OH and eldest son are like a pack of gremlins eating their way through the Christmas treats already. They have already devoured one After Eights box and I am NOT replacing it.

I finished that last night and vowed not to drink again. But it's so hard. Such a loud and smelly time of year. Will rebuy it when I get paid on the 23rd. Fuck off work with your fucking late payments too.
