To be sad that I’ve wasted £17 on a bottle of Bailey’s?

Bought a bottle of the chocolate Bailey’s today thinking it would cleanse my memory of downing a pint of Irish Cream when I was 14 (it was the only thing my parents had and I wanted to get smashed Grin) and throwing up everywhere. It did not. It still tastes like the original with a weird, very mildly chocolate aftertaste. I really wanted to like it as I’m a big fan of sweet liqueurs. Everyone else seems to adore it. I just can’t get past that horrid boozy taste!

Think I’ll give it to DPs instead.

Mix it with Kahlua and Ameretto its amazing

Came here to say this … and top
up with milk for a longer drink. Even better over ice.

I love the white choc baileys dupe from Lidls. Had two cinnamon lattes with it in today. Absolutely heavenly! And it's under £7.

seven201 · 20/12/2025 23:01

I only have it with milk (about half and half) or in a hot chocolate.

Nevernonono · 20/12/2025 23:01

Coole Swan is the way forward OP!

The espresso martini one is delicious and I also puked on Bailey’s type drink in my teens (mudslide) and haven’t been able to drink anything similar since

I used to love mudslides!

Sheridans

God that’s a blast from the past!

Studyunder · 20/12/2025 22:56

YABU because it’s actually called Christmas milk and should only be consumed in weekend/non working day morning coffees ☺️ Also, the Aldi version is cheaper and just as good for this purpose

Moonpye · 20/12/2025 22:56

Mix in some chocolate sauce and whole milk, drink with lots of ice!

RosesAndHellebores · 20/12/2025 22:55

DS and his flatmates once poured it on their cereal when the milk was off. Students.

Ilovemyshed · 20/12/2025 22:55

Make a vanilla ice cream base, add it to that and churn freeze.

ThisPoisedGoldGuide · 20/12/2025 22:54

Ooh no I really like that boozy after taste

begone25 · 20/12/2025 22:54

Look up the slow cooker, three ingredient Christmas cake and use it in that! 😋

CaliRach · 20/12/2025 22:52

I don't mind the odd Baileys over a ton of large-sized ice (small bits of ice melt too quickly), but I just don't like sweet drinks. Or creamy drinks actually, so Baileys isn't a favourite Grin

Has anyone tried the Hotel Chocolat Chocolate Cream? Was it nice?

Yes I've tried it. It's nice but I thought it would be nicer. I had heard a lot of great things so I probably had massive expectations 😅

Alpacajigsaw · 20/12/2025 22:46

I don’t drink alcohol now and when I did I didn’t like Baileys but I used to find it tolerable in coffee, can you try that?

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 20/12/2025 22:42

Waitrose had the chocolate one for £12.50 today if anyone’s looking.

XenoBitch · 20/12/2025 22:41

My best friend loves Baileys and she really rates the Aldi clone as good. Is £6.

BurntBroccoli · 20/12/2025 22:41

Bailey’s is best drunk with a tot of whiskey or vodka and always on ice.

CottonCandyCake · 20/12/2025 22:37

I will match you my bottle of mulled amaretto. I bought it on a whim. It is too sweet and I can’t persuade any family members to share it with me.

£17!!!!
Tesco, £10

That's the original. OP is talking about the chocolate one.

ScrambledEggs12 · 20/12/2025 22:36

Cadbury Chocolate Liquor was the best chocolate liquor, discontinued a long time ago now though.....

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 20/12/2025 22:06

original Baileys is still lovely but all of the other variants are inferior. The chocolate one is really rubbish.

The chocolate orange one was grim. Bitter, artificial taste.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 20/12/2025 22:34

I thought this was about price cus it seems to be a tenner in loads of shops - I’ve only paid 10 recently for my bottles

i make Baileys coffee or hot chocs and put a dash in my porridge Xmas day 😆😆
