Im worried my partner is going to come in from a works night out and think he’s entitled to sex

What? What is the connection between the works night out and sex? Does he take you with him? I mean sitting at home alone all evening and then having your partner arriving home gone midnight pissed out of his mind wanting sex is hardly appealing is it? It would be a no from me.

It would be normal for him to want it. Not for him to be "entitled" to it. The way you've phrased the question is bizarre. Do you feel pressured into giving him sex when you don't want to?

It was 'normal' for my ex which the reason he's an ex but no, it's not normal and it is abusive.

Wanting sex may be normal, but feeling entitled? No of course that's not normal. Why did you ask? Has he raped you before?

It's normal for him to want to have sex and hope it might happen, but to expect it or take it as a given -no. He's not making you is he OP? That's not ok.
