To end 1 month relationship over this tiny thing

or am I being dramatic?

Please be honest if im overreacting. Me and my boyfriend have been together officially for 6 weeks, it's going really well. Yesterday we went out for dinner and I drove us back to mine after. On the way back, he rolled down the window and threw his empty drink can out of my car. As soon as he rolled down the window i knew that was what he was going to and asked / begged him not to as I'm the one who's car it is and I don't want someone posting my car all over the local facebook group saying rubbish is being thrown out of it.

Also it gave me the ick. I find it a bit grim that he couldn't wait 10 mins till we got to my house to throw his rubbish away.

As it’s early days for the relationship I think you need to explain that what he did really shocked you and gave you the ick. It was not just the littering, but the ignoring you. Just say if he does anything like that ever again you won’t be able to see him anymore. Being really calm and matter of fact about it should make him realise that you’re totally serious.

Life is roo short for this explaining nonsense with scroats like that.

6 weeks is not a relationship. He's a dirty chavvy slob. Dump.

Total scum, you are so much better off without that manky piece of shit.

BuildbyNumbere · 21/12/2025 16:57

Sounds like a disrespectful twat.

Floundering66 · 21/12/2025 16:56

I wouldn’t be compatible with this person. It speaks volumes about how he treats the world around him. I’d get rid.

CelestialCandyfloss · 21/12/2025 16:48

It's not a small thing. That's awful - shows he's selfish and disgusting, plus he didn't listen to you when you asked him not to. Hopefully he might learn his lesson, but perhaps not.

Scully01 · 21/12/2025 16:02

Oh god dump him, honestly what is going on with some men?!!

Bemused89 · 21/12/2025 15:53

I think others have said it all but six weeks in. This is a major red flag and something the relationship wouldn't survive if I were in your shoes. Onto better things.

Excited101 · 21/12/2025 15:32

6 weeks is not a relationship and this is not a ‘small thing’ it’s fully representative of what he’s actually like, and it’s gross. Bin him off (or chuck him out a car window…)

AgeingGreycefully · 21/12/2025 15:18

I’d have slammed the breaks on and told him to go and pick it up. If he refused I’d have dropped him at the nearest bus stop!!

FigTreeInEurope · 21/12/2025 14:51

I once went on a date with someone that seemed great. They described my jumper as "N-word brown". I just got up and walked out. Sometimes a small thing, is a huge thing. This is definitely one of those times. Scummy as it gets.

CalmTheFuckDownMargaret · 21/12/2025 14:31

Lazy selfish git, isn’t he! YANBU.

Whatafustercluck · 21/12/2025 14:27

Get rid now or I bet you a pound to a penny you'll be picking his shitty under crackers off the floor in a few years.

smithsgj · 21/12/2025 14:00

Agree with everyone else obviously but who tf goes out for dinner and then has a drink in a can on the way home. Weird

ThatMauveReader · 21/12/2025 13:32

If someone shows you who they are believe them the first time!

Tortielady · 21/12/2025 13:24

Even if it had been a small thing, you'd have been justified in calling it off after only six weeks. But here's the thing. As others have said, it's not minor. He didn't get the order of cutlery wrong at a fancy dinner, or wear brown shoes at a black-tie event. Moreover, at this early point, you're supposedly in the honeymoon phase. What's he going to be like after six months? Will he be spitting, throwing punches when he's had a few, refusing to flush the loo etc? You're already finding his behaviour icky and with good reason. I'd get that skip hired ASAP - you deserve better.

Happyasapiginmuck1 · 21/12/2025 13:19

Have one more date. Take him on a litter pick, and then bin him.

xAwaywiththefairiesx · 21/12/2025 12:58

Ew Ew Ew

This is incredibly unattractive to me.

Well put! Totally agree, get rid of this toad

MissDoubleU · 21/12/2025 12:25

Nope, dump his ass. What a disgusting human. Who does that??

KingfisherBluey · 21/12/2025 12:25

End it.

I can't abide people who throw litter .

Why didn't he take it home and put it in a bin?

wfhwfh · 21/12/2025 12:14

I can understand the ick. This is very low-grade behaviour.

How did he react when you asked him not to? What did he say afterwards?

I’d never let someone who did that in my car again.

BatchCookBabe · 21/12/2025 12:11

Absolute no from me. He'd be dumped before I had dropped him off.

MyDeftDuck · 21/12/2025 12:11

I would have stopped the car and made him get out, pick up his trash and put it in the bin when we get home…….refusal would be met with me driving off and leaving the moron stranded! What a fucking idiot!

Rhootintootinboo · 21/12/2025 12:04

It’s not a tiny thing. It’s absolutely abhorrent and I’d know immediately that I couldn’t be with someone who cares so little for other people and the environment. When I was much younger I made a new boyfriend go and pick up the bank statement he casually tossed over his shoulder. Then dumped him. I’m still single but I’d rather be than compromise on values.
