Husband had been sacked from work for making comments about customers to his work mates, such as she's really fit, she's got good boobs, she's in good shape, is attractive etc. I feel really betrayed by this but am I overreacting?

Haha. Convent.

No seriously he's sexually harassing women/been a perv at work and he's lost his job over it. Why wouldn't you be furious with him?

Your standards must be incredibly low.

WrylyAmused · 19/12/2025 11:42

So not only is he unable to not objectify women he doesn't know and who didn't need his stupid opinions, he also doesn't have the sense to keep it to his internal voice and feels the need to share with co-workers. And has done it enough times and clearly upset people who have complained or his bosses have heard and been unimpressed that he's lost his job over it.

I'd be upset at being with someone so dumb, and someone who put our finances at risk through his own stupidity and inability to read the room and adapt his behaviour, but also, no, you're not unreasonable to feel it's unpleasant and disrespectful behaviour from him.

As a pp said though - what does that mean for you going forward?

Thepeopleversuswork · 19/12/2025 11:40

No of course you are not overreacting. What has happened to you to make you question this?

He’s a moron and a sleaze who has disrespected you and put your household at risk. What part of that is compatible with “husband”?

More to the point when are you going to leave?

I suppose some idiot has complained. What is the matter with people these days - it's just banter! Your poor husband losing his job over this.

Agree totally
I own my own company banter is just part of working with people
When we interview people we say that there is a lot of office banter and if that is not their cup of tea this is not the place for them
I have heard guys say things about me that I weas not meant to hear - was I offended no
Did I care no
Do I and my friends comment abut good looking guys - yes

you cant say anything these days without it backfiring.

You can say plenty of things without it backfiring.
It just involves engaging your brain before your mouth starts to move

He's lost his job. Not great.
I'm guessing until he finds a new one you'll be picking up the financial slack. Not great.
He's eyeing up other women. Not great
He's disrespecting you. Not great.
He's a sexist pig. Not great
He's an idiot thinking you can behave like this in the workplace in 2025. Not great.

SpanThatWorld · 19/12/2025 11:33

How bad were those comments that he has got himself sacked? He has obviously been really stupid or unpleasant.

He has affected the financial stability of your family. That would offend me far more than comments about women's boobs. That just shows that he's a twat which you probably knew already.
