Sky news tonight - trying to blame the police for the Bondi attack

I couldn’t quite believe what I was watching. A 15 minute segment that forensically went through video footage of the attack and essentially said the police didn’t get there fast enough and didn’t fire enough shots at the gunmen. I’ve never seen anything like that before, and I’ve witnessed plenty of terror attack coverage in my lifetime. What the hell was that about?!

The police have response time targets and rules of engagement for incidents like this. If it comes to pass that these weren't met or followed, then it's only right to question why, and whether some deaths might have been otherwise preventable.

Critical analysis is hardly blaming them for the attack.

When have you ever seen a news segment dissecting a terror attack minute by minute, including the movements of victims?

Its been really appalling - all the misinformation about the police response. I hope that the young policeman in hospital don't see any of it.

Horrendous. Absolutely horrendous. Going through footage second by second trying to suggest the police were ineffective

Wasn't that one of the us school shootings? One of the local cops was sacked because he was right there and hid.

Christ isn't sad that I typed "one of"

I believe it was in Florida or Texas. The police just didn’t intervene in time.

Strange that that wasn’t covered in such detail.

I don't know all the details so don't want to make any accusations or take any sides but I'm sure I read something about the gunman still firing after 90 minutes which I thought was a very long time. I'm not sure how accurate that is though

Oh wow, I didn't realise that. Goes to show how inaccurate stories spread.

Yes I agree with you

It’s just crazy. I’ve never ever seen a news program essentially lay into the police before. A 22 year old police officer has been shot in the head and lost his eye sight in one eye, he had only been an officer for 4 months. But for some reason sky think it’s appropriate to run this type of program!

it was 6 minutes. Not 90.

Sky have run a piece tonight essentially breaking it down so I’d go watch that. You see what happened in incredible detail.
