Why do men hate women so much?

growingsideway · 18/12/2025 17:18

I’m on the larger side, a size 18. Walking back from work with my headphones in and on my phone and a guy leans out of his car window (passenger side) in slow moving traffic, barks at me like a dog and calls me a fat bitch. Him and his mates in the car then crack up at it and find themselves absolutely hilarious as they’re crawling along next to me.

I know it’s silly to be so upset by it because it’s such a silly thing for them to do, but they took me by surprise and gave me a fright and I just don’t get it. Why are men like this?

They are legion.

Front page of the BBC and guardian again today.

99% of sexual offenders in the UK are men.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 22/12/2025 12:38

No they wouldn’t. Not the men I know. I’m sorry youve met some absolute horrors.

25% of women are raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetime

This doesn’t included:

Every 3 seconds a domestic abuse incident is reported to police

93% of defendants in domestic abuse cases are male

It also doesn’t included
Upskirting
Men shouting out of cars at women
Murders
Stalking
Online abuse
etc.etc.

Why are you trying to mininise men’s behaviour?

Onleemoi · 22/12/2025 13:11

You’ve met some absolute horrors too. We all have, whether we’re admitting it or not.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 22/12/2025 12:38

growingsideway · 18/12/2025 17:29

Maybe not around you but stick them in a car of other men, make them relatively anonymous and I bet they would.

^I agree with you about this being internalised misogyny. I think it's also a case of them still being mean girls who haven’t left the playground.

Yes, which is an interesting discussion in itself, raising all sorts of issues about how women might establish themselves within a hierarchy, punch down, and seize power within a system where they have little of it compared with men.

Its extremely rare for women to do this sort of thing. When they do, if the victim is male, it tends to be aping male patterned behaviour, and rooted in a skewed idea of 'equality'. A kind of if you can't beat em join em/give as good as we get mentality, that become a twisted sort of 'feminism' at the time of the Ladette culture. Where the victim is a woman, its internalised misogyny. Not all women are nice. Some women hate other women.
However the point is, the reasons for this rare exception to female behaviour patterns will be different from the reasons why this is a pattern of male behaviour. So, interesting, but a different topic from the one on the thread.
The barking is a way of saying the victim is unattractive, 'a dog'. Doesn't mean they are, it's just an insult.

What is it with the barking like a dog?

At some point between lockdowns I was out walking through town a two women in a car did the exact same to me. One of them leant the window and barked at me with her tongue hanging out. These women were no oil paintings either.

It’s always stuck with me because I can’t understand how people can behave like that and yet somehow the joke is on me? Surely the joke should be on the people pretending to be dogs.

I don’t think it’s gender specific there’s vile women as well as men

It’s weird though. Not many women kill men like men kill women every single week. DV is mostly a male dominated terrain.

So whilst there are vile women, it’s really not the same.

Newdaysameday · 22/12/2025 09:32

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 22/12/2025 09:11

And to all the posters who think this kind of behaviour is about how attractive you are and doesn’t happen to older women, it’s bollocks. This behaviour is about power not how you look or what you are wearing.

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 22/12/2025 09:09

Planesmistakenforstars · 22/12/2025 02:56

Well he found at least 50, probably many more who couldn't be identified, just in the local area who raped his wife. Sure, they were on a scummy online forum, but they are also "regular" men to their friends and family and co workers.

And there is now a similar case in Germany.

And there are the Telegram messaging groups, some of them containing up to 70,000 men, filming sexual assaults and discussing how to drug and rape their partners.

At what point are people going to stop NAMALT-ing this shit.

Edited

Of course. They were mostly ‘family men’ and in lots of instances it seems the women stood behind their men…said how out of character it was and ‘he must have been coerced’ . The point is these were just ordinary men living in the community, upholding decent jobs and fathering children, being grandfathers etc. All of them living quietly in sleep little towns and villages in a 50k radius. All up for doing something horrendously unspeakable because they thought they could get away with it.

I don't think that's a fair yardstick. He wasn't approaching regular people in the pub or online.

The men he contacted were all members of an extremely niche, private corner of an underground fetish forum for scumbags with a specific interest in discussing/carrying out this particular kind of abuse.

Why would they report it?

So you’re saying that (probably, based on extrapolation) 1.45% of men are rapists then? Of course any number greater than 0% is unacceptable, we all know that. We view the world differently and statistically you haven’t proven your point, in fact you’ve proven
mine. This isn’t about points scoring and I’m disappointed you seem to think it is. Honestly, you need to stop now and I won’t be responding any further.

The figures I gave are for one year!

And as 1 in 4 women are raped in their lifetime clearly by your measure that’s actually 25%.

Notascouser1990 · 21/12/2025 23:42

And yes, OP, it wouldn't surprise me if they were on something. Cocaine use is an epidemic amongst the sort of cretins who abused you, especially in certain jobs/industries.

Notascouser1990 · 21/12/2025 23:31

What enrages me, when men- or people, for that matter- do this shit, it's always in a group, and usually in a moving vehicle. Or in front of an audience. They wouldn't dare to do it on their own. Cowardly bastards.

@brunettemic

copied from earlier poster.

Government stats record that on average 79800 women across England and Wales are raped or sexually assaulted every year.

It also estimates 5 in 6 women don’t report for obvious reasons.

So if we times the 79800 by 6 we can deduce that 478800 women are sexually assaulted or raped each year in England and Wales.

478800 women in 1 year!

478800 is only rapes and sexual assault vistims.

It doesn’t include the men verbally abusing out of a car window or any other intimidating behaviour towards women.

It doesn’t include murders or any other kind of non sexually assault.
It doesn’t include upskirting or online abuse.

Please share your stats that show it’s only ‘a minority of men’ that are a problem for women.

charcoalandsugar · 19/12/2025 09:31

The stats speak for themselves about men as a sex class.

Every 3 seconds a domestic abuse incident is reported to police

93% of defendants in domestic abuse cases are male

62% of women reported fear of public spaces due to men as a sex class

1 in 4 women will be raped or assaulted by a man in their lifetime

Women change their behaviour because they fear male violence

Women will take taxi’s home even if they would prefer to walk due to safety concerns about men as a sex class.

Women are advised not to walk home with earphones in to keep themselves alert to the threat of male violence

Women will hold their keys between their fingers as a weapon because they fear men as a sex class

Women cross the road if they sense a male is walking behind them at night.

Women are often subjected to being filmed in toilets and upskirted by men as a sex class and this is a growing problem.

Approx. 3 women per week die by suicide as a result of domestic abuse

98% arrested for sexual assault are male

79800 women across England and Wales are raped or sexually assaulted every year

94% of rape survivors are women

5 in 6 women who are raped don’t report it to the police

9 in 10 girls in schools, say sexist name-calling and being sent unwanted images of a sexual nature happens to them or their peers.

MEN AS A SEX CLASS POSE A DANGER TO WOMEN .

@brunettemic

Did you read these stats?

Do you really think these statistics can be a minority of men?

@brunettemic

So one extreme view of all men isn’t nonsense, but another extreme saying the opposite isn’t nonsense.

Well yes actually. To say nearly all men have these tendencies in them to be disrespectful towards women - even cruel and nasty, is NOT an extreme view. It's a fact.

To say many men are not like this, now that is extreme, because it's simply not true. Most men have misogynism rooted very deeply into them. Some are blatantly vile and sexist quite openly, some keep it hidden quite well. Even the 'good ones' have it in them.

Again you're very naive and blinkered if you think any different. (Or you have met very few men!)

The “most men” bit is complete nonsense. Some men yes, most men no.

As for your derogatory remarks about me, having lived on various different places across the country I’m safe in the knowledge that you’re wrong and laughing away at your assumption. Pretty pathetic really.

landlordhell · 20/12/2025 17:58

I asked my DH about when he goes on golf breaks with a big group of friend if any of them ever give women grief etc and he was adamant that they don’t. He said they’re all just so happy to be away for a few days playing golf and having a few beers at night. DH always crosses the road if he’s walking behind a woman who is alone especially in the dark. So many men don’t do this and walk right behind you.

Some of us are lying. Some of us are in denial. Some of us are deluded. Some of us are lucky. Very few of us have-or know-men who will call out other men on their behaviour.

I’m lucky.

There are two men who I know are not like this at all, my DH and one of my my DBILs (my DSis’s second DH). They have been wonderful, the way they’ve supported my DSis and me as we’ve processed the memories of our historical CSA, right through a traumatic police investigation.

As for the other men I know and like, I won’t ever be sure as I've been wrong before.

This thread has reminded me of the time when I was walking along the street with my brother, as young adults, and he asked me to walk behind him. He said he didn't want his mates seeing us together "in case they think you're my girlfriend and think you're the best I can do". I always thought he was one of the better ones, up till that point.
