I'm weak 🤣
My manager just phoned me to say there has been some serious complaints made about me that he must urgently address.
I panicked.
In the Pronouns section of my Teams profile, I have

'Take a Wild Guess'

Its been there for a few years. Its finally been noticed and I've been told to take it down because it's made someone or more than one possibly, FEARFUL of me.

"Ah, but are you a Catholic atheist, or a Protestant atheist ?"

for the sake of inclusivity.

Mock, you may; I really AM a Catholic atheist! 🤨

Well, quite.
Ive had a promotion from said manager since suggesting people guess my pronouns.
Ive managed a career for 30 years. I'm OK thanks

30 years and you still dont know how to challenge effectively and professionally in the workplace? Sheesh

Continue your childish acts of defiance then by all means, youre really sticking it to em!

TesChique · 18/12/2025 18:50

TheKeatingFive · 18/12/2025 18:27

Or she can challenge policies which have no basis in science/reason and are anti women. Just a though ...

Challenging policies you dont agree with is...what I...said?

But maybe challenge them like a grown up and not a kid in school, then you won't get a titty lip when youre treated like a kid and get reprimanded.

Horrace · 18/12/2025 18:48

SabrinaThwaite · 18/12/2025 18:31

Well given that nobody has either noticed or cared enough to complain for several years, I wouldn’t bet on that.

I doubt you have a 'career'. I can't imagine anyone progressing in a profession when they use Teams as a way to openly mock and ridicule colleagues.

I also cannot imagine anyone doing this in a professional job. Also not laugh at their manager. Would like to know what sort of job this really is. Probably one where you don’t send many emails at least.

Honestly, I think men deciding they are women because they 'feel' like one is far more mocking and ridiculing. But you do you.

TesChique · 18/12/2025 18:23

Well has OP made her feelings publically known about preferred pronouns policy to her management team re: how it makes her feel? Or is she just relying on being pass agg and smart arse?

Also if you dont like the policy/positions of your workplace you could also...leave?

Edited

Yes, I deliberately tweaked that story because being Jewish is still a religious connection. Atheists reject religion entirely.

And thats unprofessional of you.

Regardless of where you stand on this debate, ridiculing others in the workplace is unprofessional.

I assume by the fact youve been allowed to leave it blank that this isn't a mandatory obligation? (I wouldnt agree with this policy but as a grown up why not have a professional conversation about it?)

So youve taken it upon yourself to be a smart arse in the workplace and now are being reprimanded for it

Youre in your fifties, grow up.

Or stay on here basking in the "youre so great op omg" of your kin, whatever.

JellySaurus · 18/12/2025 18:09

SerendipityJane · 18/12/2025 17:05

The assumption that everybody is either cis or trans is exactly the same as the assumption that everybody is either Protestant or Catholic.

There is the old story of a Jew stopped by some lads in Belfast:

"Are you Catholic or Protestant ?"
"I'm Jewish"
"Ah, but are you Catholic Jewish, or Protestant Jewish ?"

Which (like a lot of humour) contains a lot to unpick - touching on the sex/gender confusion.

What keeps surprising me, when it shouldn’t really, is the lack of answer to the question of what other philosophical beliefs, in non-religious and non-politically driven environments, do those who support the use of wrong sex pronouns for a person who expects language for the opposite sex to be used for them (when they are materially not that sex) believe society should use the demanded language for?

What other beliefs do posters think society should be directed to act as if that belief is based on material reality when it is not? Or to use the language of a group’s philosophical belief as if that belief is a reflection of material reality?

Look up Lionel Rothschild (Jewish) and Charles (atheist). Not quite what you are referring to, I think, but definite parallels. Both were elected to Parliament but were unable to take their seats because the oath MPs of their era had to take was Christian. It took changes in the law for them to be allowed to take their seats.

I’m sure we all thought society had moved on from that. Transgenderism is clearly a retrograde move for liberality and inclusivity.

TheKeatingFive · 18/12/2025 18:03

DurinsBane · 18/12/2025 17:27

They are sharing their opinion/idea of gender, not sex. I have seen trans groups say ‘of course we know we can’t change sex, we are saying we have changed gender’

Firstly, this isn't true as some definitely do claim to have changed sex. India Willoughby for example.

Secondly, why then is there any suggestion at all that 'transwomen' should have access to women's single sex spaces?

RessicaJabbit · 18/12/2025 18:02

5128gap · 18/12/2025 17:45

There are many trans people who believe it's possible to change sex. They believe that hormone treatment and the removal of their testicles alters their bodily chemistry so that the only difference between them and a 'cis' woman is their chromosomes, which they believe to be just one small and negligible thing.
Others believe surgical interventions are a 'sex change'.
Still others believe its impossible to classify human sex into male and female because our biology is 'too complex' so the only reliable way of identifying it is for the individual to tell us, because they will 'know' and if they say they are the female sex, they are correct.
Some do seperate sex from gender, but since the SCJ the focus on a serperate 'gender identity' seems to be waning in preference for arguments that sex itself is blurry, hard to define and changeable.
For some reason.

Probably the same ones that use our close relatives of clown fish being able to change sex so naturally, as we share so much in common with them, we can obviously do it too
Umm ,no, we can't change our skin colour like a chameleon can...that's ridiculous....and no, obviously we can't grow a new limb like the axolotl ...now you're being silly, we're a different species and biological class. Stop being such a terf and spreading such Literal Violence.
Now, getting back to clown fish, they can change sex, so naturally, so can humans. Read around ans so your research and you'll see it's perfectly possible. There's loads of research proving it. I would link some papers that are peer reviewed explaining all this, but it's so easy to find, just find it yourself.

Well that's a load of bollocks.

Female pronouns relate to sex.

I refer to my golden retriever bitch as she/ her, she definitely does not have a gender!

But does she identify a food disposal unit?

Maybe her pronouns are dust/bin.

Some do. Ref Dr Upton.

Secondly, since womens spaces are sex-based, and since pronouns are a gateway into womens spaces, it should not be respected.

Just been told to remove my pronouns from my Teams profile

Then I don’t think you have read or listened widely enough.

There are examples I can pull right now of male activists saying that they are female, biological female people even.
