Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

I genuinely never knew there was etiquette surrounding this until now. I’m surprised I’ve not been chinned. I thought the point of having children was to dispatch and secure seating whilst I queued!!!

It make absolutely no sense to not make sure your have a table before ordering 🤷‍♀️

I've had sex with married men for fun and feel no guilt or shame.

I’m enjoying the refreshingly honest answers, I have to say.

I had an emotional affair in my early 20s and though I regret it, it’s because it came from a place of low self worth and the guy turned out to be a complete dick, not because he was married.

NormasArse · 16/12/2025 21:26

My house is usually a bit messy, but I’d still invite an unannounced guest in.

I love my dogs, and they sleep in the bed with me.

I go out for walks and to the cinema with men who are not my DH (and I have no intention of shagging).

I go on lots of trips away for leisure (walking, water sports, gigs) without DH.

I love DH very much!

4forksache · 16/12/2025 21:15

Tbh the only one thing that has given me horror palpitations so far is the loo brush people 😱

RealEagle · 16/12/2025 21:11

Two of my kids shared a bedroom ,they turned out fine . I have never batch cooked ,I can’t make a chicken last a week . I have always done the washing for the family even when my kids were late teens . I didn’t kick my kids out as soon as they turned 18 .I like the odd joint and it has never led to harder drugs .

Both me and dh work from home and often have sex in the middle of the day.

I shop in Aldi

I drink a good few bottles of wine a week and my vape is never out my hand.

I don't know why but my mind combined things and read that you and your DH had mid-day sex in Aldi 😆

Had the audacity to have a child while living in rented accommodation

I had the audacity to have a child while being poor, in receipt of universal credit, (although I was working,) unmarried and not living with my (now) ex, and living in rented accommodation. Clearly I'm feckless and need to feel bad for being a drain on society. (Not!) I was 35 when DS was born.

I buy myself Bayliss and Harding toiletries. 😱

Greenwriter76 · 16/12/2025 20:50

I’ve got a hot tub and an en-suite
My (1) child watches tv every day & tonight had jelly for tea after refusing pasta.
I’ve got and will always have loo brushes, bins in bathrooms, and we share towels
I change bedding mostly fortnightly

I use fabric conditioner
I buy and eat convenience foods including jarred curry sauce
My front door is often unlocked
Our Xmas night snacks will be leftovers, nuts or Pringles - not a cheese board in site
… I could go on and on!

Peclet · 16/12/2025 20:46

I was the OG loo brush poster. I knew it would kick it off!

Rim the loo with bleach. Leave it for a little while so it can drip down. boil a kettle

place get loo brush and scrub scrub scrub.

flush. Flush again and give the loo
brush a good shake. Fill lool
brush holder with some bleach and boiling water. Give it a good swirl around. Tip it out

job done

I couldn’t care less whether my wealthy parents or wealthy in-laws leave me an inheritance.

BunnyLake · 16/12/2025 20:37

I have no rules. Especially now I live alone but even when the kids were here they didn’t have to do chores, could eat in their rooms, could stay in bed all day as teens (school holidays) and they’ve turned out great (because they were loved and home was their safe place). They now live independently and can cook and clean and live like the civilised adults they are.

Punkerplus · 16/12/2025 20:21

Imagine not wanting to celebrate your birthday or be annoyed that any other grown adult does. I swear some people just enjoy being miserable!

Oh me too! I love celebrating. There was a woman on another thread claiming that adults shouldn't give or receive Christmas presents, because no one likes that - only children do! What a misery.

I met the man who would become my husband when I was 18 and he was gasp 25. He wasn't a pervert or a man-child and we are still happily together over 30 years later.

So put that on your needles and knit it, MN!

My parents were 23 and 30 when they got married, which people today seem to think is too big an age gap 🤷‍♀️

BauhausOfEliott · 16/12/2025 20:22

Oh, I’ve thought of some more!

I think plenty of men really do, in fact, have a ‘crazy ex’ and should be perfectly entitled to talk about that experience just like women are.

I can’t drive and have no intention of learning.

I’m not a gamer but I think gaming is perfectly good hobby.

I’m 49 and presumably in perimenopause as my periods are really irregular, but I have no discernible symptoms and no decline in my sex drive.

I find mooncups and period pants really gross.

I don’t think kids should have to do clubs and activities of any kind if they don’t want to.

I’d happily date a bisexual man.

Enigma54 · 16/12/2025 20:17

I celebrate my birthday! 🎁
I don’t earn a 6 figure salary.
I don’t live within walking distance of all shops, theatres, restaurants, the cinema blah blah. I have to DRIVE because public transport is shite.

I dont believe that every problem a woman has is the fault of menopasue or peri.
Some jobs are best left to the men.
Women banging on about womens rights dose my head in got the 50/50, but now most moan about it.
Your kids are not toys or your best friends.
Older mums 45 pluse with toddlers, you dont know it all so pull your nose in, if you see someone in their 20s and 30 with a kid.

Perimenopause seems to be the reason for all problems here, even if you are a 25 year old male.

And yes to some jobs better left to men. I'm quite happy for them to do any of the heavy lifting jobs for me!

Tradies are very welcome to use my toilet
Visitors may keep their shoes on
Hoover and towels once a week
Bedding every fortnight
Pyjamas and dressing gowns stay upstairs
If someone sends me a Christmas card, I am delighted to receive it, regardless of how they address the envelope
My dc were allowed to believe in father christmas
A chicken serves 4 to 6 meals, depending on size

I read this as you hoover your towels once a week 🤣

Christmaseree · 16/12/2025 19:56

I like my neighbours and I happily do favours for them (and ask for favours from them sometimes).

I don't own an iron.

I enjoy drugs on occasion.

I don't drive.

I like seeing dogs in cafes and out and about.

I support Palestinian liberation from Israeli occupation and apartheid.

I deeply value my relationships with my friends.

I don't think your views on Palestine make you an outlier on MN. Always heated on CITME, of course.

LadyTangerine · 16/12/2025 19:43

'I share my DP with his wife, she doesn’t know'

You don't 'share him' if she doesn't know! You're his bit on the side, fine if you're happy with that of course.
