Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

Edited to remove accidental double post.

I have an only child by choice. I also dare to live in a city rather than rurally.

I don't lock my front door if I'm in.

I don't lock the front door if I'm taking the dog out, never mind if I'm in. I've got a toilet brush (why is that an issue?), of course any trades can use the toilet,, why would I say no? The dog sleeps in the bed and her bowl is washed with our stuff. My sons didn't have much routine as babies and we were not strict with them as teenagers and they're fine. I have tattoos and piercings and don't earn 6 figures. Oh and I share towels and wash them when they smell, and wash the bedding when it's dirty. And don't always have a shower every day.

Go abroad multiple times per year 15. Have my heating on year round 16. Have takeaways 3/4 times per week 17. Take my Xmas decorations down before 12 days after (🙄) 18. Have a bbq (use regularly) 19. I don’t give a fuck that you do any of these bar one, not picking your dog poo up is just extremely selfish and scummy.

I was the OG loo brush poster. I knew it would kick it off!

Rim the loo with bleach. Leave it for a little while so it can drip down. boil a kettle

place get loo brush and scrub scrub scrub.

flush. Flush again and give the loo
brush a good shake. Fill lool
brush holder with some bleach and boiling water. Give it a good swirl around. Tip it out

job done

Sorry, I can’t get onboard with rimming the toilet.

I’ve parked in a parent and child space late at night when I figured the demand for those spaces would be low. Is that a hanging offence?

Edited

I used to do that too. Back when the big supermarkets were open all hours. I fucking loved a 2am shop and parking in a P&C space.

That is so silly. I read that the cleanest place in most homes it the toilet.
I have no idea why it has to be 100% germ free at all times. I mean, it is not like you are eating your dinner from it. It is somewhere you land shit into. It is not meant to be sterile. It does not matter if it is not sterile.

Who knows. That and shoes off threads. Oh and bathroom bins.
Avoid.

takealettermsjones · 16/12/2025 22:23

I have toilet brushes!
I don't wash my bedsheets every week. Or towels after one use. I don't own any zoflora or white vinegar.
I drink in front of my kids (with dinner).
My kids don't do swimming lessons.
My kids have loads of plastic tat.
Sometimes I don't recycle.
I am late quite a lot.
I have tinsel on my fake Christmas tree (which I put up in November).

Biffsboys · 16/12/2025 22:15

I do my 18 year olds washing and sometimes even iron it !!

If you want to see things really kick off, start a loo brush thread! 😂
Believe me, by three posts in, the anger and personal attacks will have started to escalate and there's no going back.....

My house is usually a bit messy, but I’d still invite an unannounced guest in.

I love my dogs, and they sleep in the bed with me.

I go out for walks and to the cinema with men who are not my DH (and I have no intention of shagging).

I go on lots of trips away for leisure (walking, water sports, gigs) without DH.

I love DH very much!

The cinema and men thing.... my ex DP used to have a lodger. There was a film I wanted to see, and the lodger wanted to see. DP did not want to see it. So me and the lodger went to see the film. There was one person who was beside themselves with outrage about it... guess who? It was my own dad! Absolutely blasted me for going to the flicks with a man who was not my DP.

Namechangesecretsignature · 16/12/2025 21:55

Oh and my kids eat McDonald’s so much they literally decline it if offered. Healthy weights, perfect teeth, intelligent and amazing sleepers. With a mum that cba a lot of the time!

I didn’t “rescue” my dog, I bought him from a breeder. I wanted (and got) a beautiful, intelligent, gentle golden retriever, not an ugly, traumatised staffie.
And yes he sleeps on the bed and administers the canine prewash before I put the dishwasher on.
My house probably smells of dog; I don’t care.

I’ve let my adult DC live here for extended periods, rent free and with free food, even when they were earning.

I'd forgive my DH if he had an affair.
I’m Mrs Hisname.
I wear Crocs and have a Dry Robe.
Got my nose pierced at 55 and now planning a tattoo.
Drive an SUV and go on several holidays per year.

somewhereintheworld · 16/12/2025 21:41

My dog got mud in the bed four days ago and I still haven't changed the bedding and have no intention to until about two weeks time!

Punkerplus · 16/12/2025 21:38

Adult children is something on here where there is no middle ground. They either stay with you until they are 60 or move out at 18 and only see them once every leap year. I saw one recent thread where an OP was told it was perfectly reasonable to see her son who had moved only 30 minutes away four times a year as he would be busy living his own life.

On a similar note, I'm quite happy to see my in-laws and parents at a weekend (normally every weekend unless we have plans) so they can see my children and build their relationship. I don't find it impacts on my "family time" at all.

I also spoon fed my eldest purees when weaning. Contradictory to what some BLW obsessives think, he isn't fussy, doesn't have a problem with speech or food textures and absolutely no problems with jaw development or hand coordination nor was he ever delayed in these areas.

Now that would be a nuclear mumsnet post 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Tbh the only one thing that has given me horror palpitations so far is the loo brush people 😱

Why do you hate them so much and how do you clean your toilet?

DaisyDukesAuntie · 16/12/2025 21:34

If my washing gets slightly rained on…..I leave it on the line to dry again.

Imagine not wanting to celebrate your birthday or be annoyed that any other grown adult does. I swear some people just enjoy being miserable!

I think you are right, they are just so serious and miserable.
