Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

The problem is not that you use a loo brush, formula feed, answer the door, sleep train, eat massive salads or not etc. It’s that people are so arrogant, they think everyone should be the same as them and judge them for it.

AngelofIslington · 17/12/2025 09:36

I answer my door if someone calls, whether they’ve requested permission in writing 3 weeks prior or not.

I'm only gently poking fun.

It's not golf btw, can't stand the game.

It's horses isn't it !? It's always horses....... 😉

CoffeeCantata · 17/12/2025 09:08

I judge all kinds of things all the time and don't feel ashamed of myself.

I am polite and kind, though.

But it doesn't mean I don't have a strong opinion - although I don't express it unless asked, and sometimes not even then.

Ginmonkeyagain · 17/12/2025 07:32

I don't own a car.

We share towels.

Jeans are are washed very infrequently.

I own 0 pairs of pyjamas.

I hate hot chocolate.

Doesn’t it bother you that they could have traces of dogshit, sick or gob etc on their shoes?

But you are not crawling on the floor are you? I get if you don't like shoes on in your house but most people will wipe there feet or know if they have stood in dog shit.

All floors are basically filthy. The idea that you can keep them magically clean by forcing everyone to stomp around in their cheesy socks or sweaty bare feet is not very sensible.

Particularly in houses that also have dogs slobbering and shedding everywhere, and dragging their arses along the carpet.

If your dog is dragging its arse along the carpet, you need to take it to the vet to have its anal glands emptied.

If you come in my house, I don't care if you take your shoes off or not. Whatever you're comfortable with.
Floors are there for us, we're not there for the floors.

The cinema and men thing.... my ex DP used to have a lodger. There was a film I wanted to see, and the lodger wanted to see. DP did not want to see it. So me and the lodger went to see the film. There was one person who was beside themselves with outrage about it... guess who? It was my own dad! Absolutely blasted me for going to the flicks with a man who was not my DP.

I wonder if it was a keeping up appearances thing- what would the neighbours think?!

Honestly obsessed with how many people have outing hobbies on mumsnet 🤣 (I think you are poking fun at that and hopefully I’m not doing it at you haha)

  1. Don’t pick dog poo up if I can get away with it
  2. drink multiple times a week
  3. Know numerous criminals
  4. Clean my house every day
  5. Wash my clothes after each use
  6. Love candles.
  7. Let my kids watch TV, use iPads, games etc
  8. Swear in most settings
  9. Spend money on luxury items most days
10. Don’t save 11. Avoid tax where I can, encourage others to do the same. 12. Look for loop holes in the law 13. Would never correct an error in my favour from a big business i.e Tesco 14. Go abroad multiple times per year 15. Have my heating on year round 16. Have takeaways 3/4 times per week 17. Take my Xmas decorations down before 12 days after (🙄) 18. Have a bbq (use regularly) 19. Drive everywhere and avoid walking 20. Don’t read tons of books or have them displayed around the house like some sort of museum

now now, don’t all have an aneurism at once

Leaving your dog's faeces in the street should be punishable by a very large fine and lifetime ban on dog ownership. Absolutely disgusting.

SleeplessInWherever · 16/12/2025 23:25

My partner and I sometimes watch my ex husband’s girlfriend singing on TikTok, because it’s hilarious.

I give my son a small chocolate bar before school most days, because it’s a hill I absolutely cba dying on.

I air fryer tea, most days.

I have a BMI of approx 6271615151, and couldn’t care less.

I drive to the corner shop, and everywhere else.

I don’t believe that mother’s always know best, or that everyone should be one.

I think women staying at home is a waste of talent, a waste of earning potential, and absolutely cannot be a full time job.

Have friends of the opposite sex
Encourage dc to have sleepovers with their friends
Let the cats sleep on my bed
Still have photos of my late wife up
Eat pot noodles and other upf
Play sport regularly, can't say which one as it'll be outing

Fgfgfg · 16/12/2025 23:24

Cats come and go as they please and are welcome to sleep on the bed.
I open the door. It's nice when people drop in and I've been known to do it myself.
I have an old door so don't have the problems most people have. If it is shut, it's locked.
I don't own or want an iron, a microwave or a dishwasher. If I need to iron something I'll borrow nextdoors.
Our house is in a run down, scary area and the neighbours are mostly ok.
We take more parcels in for our neighbours than they do for us. We don't mind.
I phone most people without texting first.
I am happy to spend money on myself.
University is overrated.
I despise pyjamas, spa days, and making an 'event' out of a normal and frequently mundane occurrence such as having a hot chocolate. If you want a hot chocolate just have one without the drama.
This is the risk of asking 'for fun'. It starts off fairly light hearted and before you know it the rage starts to creep in. As evidence of my creeping rage I must admit that I have been involved in a riot or two, something most mumsnetters would certainly frown upon😄

Woahtherehoney · 16/12/2025 23:23

I love my dog and cats more than most humans.

even though I’m in my 30s and live with my DP and DSS, I still call my mum about minor (and major) inconveniences in my life and for advice (because she didn’t stop being my mum as soon as I turned 18 and she didn’t turf me out on my ear)

I am a step parent who adores her step kid - I’m not a wicked step mother who would happily see him on the street despite what mumsnet believes about step mums.

I eat 3 meals a day and snacks - shocking behaviour I know.

5128gap · 16/12/2025 23:13

I have a driving licence and refuse to drive.
I will cut a doughnut in half at work and leave half behind.
I've had botox for over 20 years and will probably do other things to avoid 'embracing natural aging'.
I love and respect my MiL and take her advice as I think experience is often more valid than the latest theory.
I eat loads of carbs.
I often post without reading the full thread.

WigglywagglyWanda · 16/12/2025 23:06

I dont get mistaken for 18 when im actually 68

I think a lot of men are quite as nice as women
