Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

I vape, have tattoos and a boyfriend despite being a lone parent and really should die alone for my sins.

BarnacleBeasley · 18/12/2025 11:03

I don't mind sending my kids to nursery.

TinselTina · 18/12/2025 10:51

I much prefer adult company to kids.

Mama2many73 · 18/12/2025 10:32

Oh God! I literally love you all!!

Taking away tge MN stereotypes of 1 use towel, bedding every day etc, no loo brushes ( how do you get sh*t off the bowl?).

I will read EVERY comment on here!

scalt · 18/12/2025 10:27

With husbands' secret outing hobbies, mine sometimes keeps his hobby secret, because it is... wait for it... netball! (I'm involved in netball too: he sometimes jokes that he married into netball.) Some people he has mentioned it to say in horror "but it's a girls' sport!". He's an umpire, so he gets to boss about teenage girls and young women who are in short dresses. The shame of it!

StarlightLady · 18/12/2025 10:15

In the warm weather, l often don’t wear knickers and long summer dresses.

l’m a big flirt!

l own loo brushes.

ObelixtheGaul · 18/12/2025 10:10

This thread kind of reminds me of those videos featuring family pets wearing signs saying things like, 'I crapped in the human's shoes', or 'I chewed up the sofa' 😝

wineosaurusrex · 18/12/2025 06:44

My kids sleep in my bed.

I don't mind if they do their homework or not.

They never had a routine as I wanted them to be comfortable to be flexible. If I want to do something like a meal or event which requires them staying up later than usual then I will take them, and they will be no problem and there will be no negative consequences! (Unlike on MN where people stick rigidly to routine even if if means their kids wake up at 5am every morning and they can never enjoy their evenings or do anything at night without a babysitter.)
Luckily i live abroad where this is normal!

My dog also likes to sleep in our bed. Its lush, especially in winter, all in together!

I will happily have a couple of glasses of wine or a gin and tonic when my kids are there. As a PP said - in an emergency I would simply call a cab.

I have toilet brushes.

I like my family. I don't feel the need to keep them at arm's reach just to prove a point to them.

I didn't care if someone held my baby (luckily, because where i live, random elderly or middle aged women will come and talk to and touch your baby and even pick it up and take it to show to their friends! Most MNers would have a nervous breakdown.

I think tattoos are cool and have several which I still love.

I always disagree with posters who say that people MUST do the 'moral' thing even if they wont get caught for not. Eg getting sent something fabulous by accident by a big company after they'd got a refund, or similar. I always think "You keep it!" I'd always take the good free thing, if I didn't think I'd get caught!

I own no Boden or Seasalt.

I like immigrants.

I think people protesting against the gaza genocide or climate change are doing the right thing.

I was a sahm for a few years & I didn't care about losing my career or future pension contributions.
We quite often have a salad garnish instead of a massive salad.
I enjoyed a fuss from everyone over my birthday.
I use Bayliss & Harding.
I've always, & still do, all the mental load & life admin.
Our adult ds lives with us at the weekend without paying board. I usually cook for him & do the small amount of washing he has. (He does most of his when he's away)
In fact I've never charged board as they've been good at saving.
I've given adult dc lifts.
I've given unasked for advice to my adult dc.
I've cleaned my dd house (except for their bedrooms, I never go in there) when they've both been very busy with work/dgc/life without being asked.

whatsnewpussycat34 · 17/12/2025 23:56

I WFH and barely do anything.

My PJs are worn all over the house.

I don’t have a skin care routine.

I am only in contact with my dad for the possibility of inheritance.

I don’t think every shitty behaviour is due to neurodivergence

I have never bought anything from Boden

Elishiva · 17/12/2025 21:51

Smoked weed, for some periods as a daily habit.
Carried on smoking occasionally even after I had kids.

Ihateboris · 17/12/2025 21:44

I wear very high heels

I drink more than 3 glasses of wine a week

I let my dogs sleep on my bed

I use a toilet brush

EsmeCrowfoot · 17/12/2025 21:42

Wearing the same PJs multiple nights without knickers underneath. I really don’t understand the froth about this.

I'm still fairly new to MN. Would someone explain laundry and Spider Willies to me ? I think I might understand but.....🤔

Threads from ages ago, were posters argued about leaving washing out all night. A poster said they never do this, incase it gets ‘darked on.’ This caused much amusement, which amplified when another poster protested that spiders might rub their willies on said laundry.
If you haven’t already, read some of the Classic threads under Mumsnet Stuff, so funny. Those were the days.

scalt · 17/12/2025 21:37

@grumpygrape According to MN, it’s wrong to leave laundry on the line at night, because it gets “darked on”, and spiders rub their willies over it.

I have seven children and I'm on benefits. I get £15000 per month.

I like to name my children after celebrities, so my youngest is called Nigel.

I'm also a landlord, so I charge myself rent. The benefits would be shit otherwise.

I'm NC with my eldest, who is 13, because her grandmother left her money that should have come to me.

I go shoplifting in my dressing gown and big fluffy slippers.

Edited

But do you have several wide screen TVs?

Are any of your other children named Maci-Lee or Kayden? Or have you given all 7 of them names starting with the same letter (this is preferable)?

I also trust there are a minimum of 5 different dads and you are currently living with a man who isn’t the father of any of the DC but has 4 of his own who you are planning to make part of a blended family.

grumpygrape · 17/12/2025 21:03

Netcurtainnelly · 17/12/2025 16:49

Thats not a biggie. I.might do that.

If an older person is rude or unpleasant I don’t automatically assume they are descending into Dementia.

I take parcels in for my neighbour.

I was bored shitless at various points of my maternity leave and was relieved when I went back to work. (I hate work now and DC are older and much more interesting so I’d be happy to be at home now).

Someone gave DS Wotsits when he was about 10 months old and I managed survive the trauma of that incident without crying/shaking.

Both DC were looked after by a childminder. I didn’t mind if she took them to the supermarket to run errands or let them watch TV.

Does your youngest play the violin too? 😉

I dont get mistaken for 18 when im actually 68

I think a lot of men are quite as nice as women

I have tattoos

I eat carbs, have a gay son whos not a strapping rugby player.

I admit to watching shite reality shows

Very partial to an all inclusive holiday where I love a buffey breakfast

I don't wash chickens

What if the chickens really need a bath? You’d deny them that one little luxury? It’s not easy scrubbing your own wing pits y’know.

I once accidentally went shopping in proper day clothes, having forgotten to change into my jim-jams before heading to the supermarket.

I realised my mistake once there, so just chose a pair of pyjamas off the shelves and changed into them there and then, in the aisle.

No-one batted an eyelid and yes, I shuffled out without paying for them.

The bar is being set quite high now.
At least you found a practical solution to your problem 😉

If my washing gets slightly rained on…..I leave it on the line to dry again.

Thats not a biggie. I.might do that.

I answer my door if someone calls, whether they’ve requested permission in writing 3 weeks prior or not.

I was the OG loo brush poster. I knew it would kick it off!

Rim the loo with bleach. Leave it for a little while so it can drip down. boil a kettle

place get loo brush and scrub scrub scrub.

flush. Flush again and give the loo
brush a good shake. Fill lool
brush holder with some bleach and boiling water. Give it a good swirl around. Tip it out

job done

What a faff!

You should get a toilet brush 😉
