Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!
OP posts:

all 3 of my children went in a cot in their own room from the day they came home from the hospital
I have shouted at my children

Alpinette · 16/12/2025 13:20

The ONLY place I wear PJs is in my bedroom. PJs elsewhere - disgusting. On the other hand I do buy comfortable clothes which is something that seems to pass many mumsnetters by.

My 4 year old gets a bath about once a month. Swims 3 times a week so isn’t dirty, and she loathes baths.

Fizbosshoes · 16/12/2025 13:19

I spent more than £50 on my wedding and had lots of guests, and it was well before social media existed

looselegs · 16/12/2025 13:19

I use a clean towel after every shower....

johnworf · 16/12/2025 13:17

Don't 'LTB' husband every time we have an argument.

JHound · 16/12/2025 13:16

I don’t change my bedsheets weekly.

I barely change them monthly.

And I frequently quote the OP.

ArcticGrass · 16/12/2025 13:16

I open the door if someone rings (which is rarely locked except at night and even then we often forget).
I like my in laws and my siblings.
I like my DH's ex wife and have been on holiday with her and talk to her about the kids and stuff.
I celebrate my birthday
I like my work colleagues and have been on holiday with some in the past.
We have a loo brush (I mean really!)
I rarely use bleach.
I answer my phone.

BigAnne · 16/12/2025 13:16

I've enjoyed holidays in Benidorm. Not afraid to answer the front door. All children had chores from young age and didn't question the teachers decisions.

Fizbosshoes · 16/12/2025 13:15

I usually have 3 meals a day - and snacks - and im not overweight
I eat carbs

BernardButlersBra · 16/12/2025 13:15

So many! I would smash Mumsnet bingo:

-IVF
-c-section (they were both breech but l know that will still wind some up!)
-l have loo brush
-queried how lame the NHS can be, as my GP’s are lazy and shit

Port1aCastis · 16/12/2025 13:15

Had DD at 18 didn't want an abortion
Drive an SUV and sometimes a minibus
Can't make a chicken last a week
Have toilet brushes
About to become a Nanna in the New Year at 45
Don't like London

MudandParsnips · 16/12/2025 13:15

Me, my husband and kid all fart in front of each other because it's hilarious and I've never once thought about poo particles

Catinabox21 · 16/12/2025 13:15

Have some kind of dessert most nights.

Falalalalalalalalaaaa · 16/12/2025 13:14

I walk my dog off the lead in our local park

Punkerplus · 16/12/2025 13:14

What is the deal with loo brushes anyway? How do people clean poo off a toilet anyway? Are people honestly shoving their hands down the toilet and cleaning it with a cloth and then walking around the house with a shit smeared cloth to the washing machine thinking that's somehow more hygienic? Or leaving shit smeared antibacterial wipes in the bin smelling away as an alternative.

My loo brush and toilet are regularly soaked/cleaned with bleach. So far no one has had any horrendous illness due to it!

WhichTyler · 16/12/2025 13:13

Serve starters with Christmas dinner...

peoplesuckpeoplesuck · 16/12/2025 13:13

I don’t mind if sanitary products are scented. I firmly believe that NO-ONE else can smell if I am using one, despite the craziness on here where people say ‘I can smell if a woman in the next room is wearing one and it always gives me me a migraine’ - what are you, a bloodhound? Such a load of crap.

I also think lots of people need to man the fuck up and stop moaning they have ‘anxiety’ when they are a bit worried about something.

Fizbosshoes · 16/12/2025 13:12

I celebrate my birthday
The ensuite bathroom is used for all bodily functions that a toilet is designed for
I socialise with work colleagues
I wore a running top twice last week without washing in between 🫣 because it was my best high viz one (it didnt smell - but I was running alone anyway if that makes a difference!)

NotQuiteUsual · 16/12/2025 13:12

I let my kids joke around with me including the odd swear word. Dds friends are in shock at how me dd talk to each other playfully. They say they'd be grounded for life is they spoke to their mums that way.

Also I respect the kids who have changed their pronouns and identify as whatever. If they want to experiment with their identity then the teenage years are the perfect time to do it. I don't support actual transition before adulthood, but it's harmless if a girl wants to be called he/him for a few months.

wordywitch · 16/12/2025 13:12

I don’t care if other people park outside my house.

Sa11yCinnamon · 16/12/2025 13:10

Ooh, some more inspired by others:

Love wine, including while breastfeeding and the occasional glass when pregnant.

Planning a second baby in my 40s.

Happily unmarried, pay more of the bills and self-funded my maternity leave, my partner pays me 'rent'/pays towards my mortgage which is in my name only.

Pop my kid in front of Bluey when I need a minute or 30.

Punkerplus · 16/12/2025 13:10

Menopants · 16/12/2025 12:13

I live my life without the burning resentment of the 'mental load' every time I have to spend 5 mins online updating the car insurance or similar.

Oh god this. There was a recent thread about this and someone literally posted a 20 step process of how even booking something so mundane like a dentist appointment caused them so much mental stress. Things like "thinking about booking the appointment", "putting it on the calendar", "anticipating traffic".

Absolute madness, it's wonder some people make it out of bed in the morning if they can't cope with something routine like a kids dentist appointment.

BarnacleBeasley · 16/12/2025 12:18

I like all my neighbours, and happily take parcels for them, let them have showers in my house if they're getting work done on their bathroom, move my car if they need the space, etc.

I am intermittently teaching my child to read before he starts school.

Apart from the child one (I'm child-free), this is me.
The shower thread where people had conniptions at the idea of a neighbour being in their shower particularly amused me.

mondaytosunday · 16/12/2025 13:08

My babies slept in their own rooms, and on a different floor, to our bedroom from their first day home. I breastfed both (so was in there a couple times a night). It wasn’t actually the recommendation then to have them in with you for the first six months. I also gave them real food from four months (still breastfeeding, one of them til they self weaned at a year). I’d do the same today.

SmallTortoise · 16/12/2025 13:08

I like my neighbours
I answer the door and love people dropping by
I invited some family members to my wedding simply because they're family and i didn't want to hurt them.
I don't think it's good parenting to sometimes put adults needs before a childs
