Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

Quite a number of MNers seem to think that a loo brush is a filthy object that is totally full of shit. They don't seem to get that if you dunk them up and down under the flush and then dip them in bleach then they are fine. Nor can any of them ever adequately explain how you scrub skiddoes off the toilet without one. Apparently they mostly use marigold rubber gloves and put their hands down the toilet, completely missing or ignoring the fact that then you would get shit on the marigolds too.

I am not one of them. I am the proud owner of two toilet brushes and so it will stay. 😃

The chicken. Well, someone once said on here that they could make meals for a family of four or five for a week using just a small chicken. God alone knows how! It passed into MN legend and became known as the magic chicken. 🤣

Thank you for enlightening me!

especially with magic chicken

I am also proud owner of silicone toilet brushes - soak in bleach easily

the only house I’ve seen without a loo brush had a shower beside it - don’t know how it comes off if crusted as it was a very drippy thing 😂

Someone enlighten me please

what is it with chicken?

and why can’t you have a loo brush?

I most want to know about the chicken

It seems that the thought on MN is that loo brushes were dirty things.

I’m a proud loo brush owner but was shocked by someone who said she put hers in the dishwasher 🤮.

You're supposed to dry the sink after cleaning it?????

I didn’t know it was a thing, but apparently it is. I feel less slovenly now that others are also baffled by it!

No idea about the loo brush.

The chicken thing is before my time, but I think it’s to do with portion control and disagreement on how many meals a whole chicken is supposed to last for. A ‘typical’ MNetter can make a whole chicken last a week, or something along those lines.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

and then make stock

I dont get the cant go to anyone's house at Christmas. Kids must stay at home and play with their toys.

We went to grandparents every year on xmas day mid-morning after we had opened our presents at home.

It was no problem. We spent Boxing day at home.

I’ve never dried a sink in my life.

Sorry, cleaning sinks? They get covered in soap all the time, must be the cleanest thing in the house.----

I dont think Stacey Solomon is the next Jesus.

Hufflemuff · 19/12/2025 15:04

I let my baby cry it out at about 6 months old occasionally, when it got to the point i was about to throw myself down the stairs.

I chose to bottle feed - because the thought of breastfeeding revolts me. Like how some people hate feet or blood - this is my thing.

StarlightLady · 19/12/2025 14:59

I’ve had sex on a first date and don’t regret it.

Charlottespider · 19/12/2025 02:52

I answer the door
I have loo brushes
I understand that covid infections harm thousands of kids
happy to go with kids’ natural body clocks on school holidays (might have abandoned this if they got up at 4am)
don’t have a tasteful tree - I let the kids do most of it and it shows
don’t dry the inside of my sink after cleaning it
I prefer it if a couple ask for money for a wedding gift - easier!
I don’t care if a couple want a child free wedding
Admin takes more than average of ten minutes a day (school admin alone surpasses that)!
I’m not being passive aggressive if I use thumbs up emoji
A cooked chicken doesn’t last days

I’m covered in tattoos and in love with a trans man.

So, a woman, then?

Topseyt123 · 18/12/2025 21:26

I often like useful presents.

A breadmaker for Christmas was a great present for me from DH. Apparently according to MN I should have hated it, thrown a strop and considered the future of my relationship.

princesspadam · 18/12/2025 20:25

I have more

i really dislike DSD, DSS is a dream but I could happily never see her again

TinselTina · 18/12/2025 20:07

I cant wait for my kid to go to bed all the time

Netcurtainnelly · 18/12/2025 11:52

I dont do Christmas anymore

I often wear nightclothes in the winter round the house if I'm.not going out that day.

I always bring the spare toiletries home from a hotel that they put in the bathroom.

Take a bit of the breakfast buffet for lunch on holiday, saves money.
It all goes to waste anyway.
Bed and breakfast and we will.get abit of lunch out of it too.

Rehab4rightmove · 18/12/2025 11:24

I love a centre parks holiday

I often prefer talking to strangers over people i know.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 18/12/2025 11:18
  1. I have a manual job (which I love, as it means more animals than people)
  2. I drink milk that comes from animals (well, duh, I work on a dairy farm)
  3. I live rurally (not in a chocolate-box village, and a trip to the shop requires me to drive several miles to get there). Public transport is an interesting concept.
  4. I don't tend to lock the doors, even when I go out. The neighbours don't, either!
  5. I do not own my house (they're not for sale; they're offered alongside your job)
  6. Holidays are a bit of an alien concept, and I haven't been abroad for over 10-15 years
  7. I got a few aghast comments about me thinking that £100,000 a year was a ridiculous sum of money for a single person to earn. I survive on less than a third of that (and mine is the only income in this house).
  8. I have more than one loo brush, and they've never seen the inside of a dishwasher. I can't use bleach, as I'm on a septic tank (and I know how to get the bacteria going again, if someone does put bleach down it)
  9. The dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, etc. go on overnight, or when I'm out
  10. My tea-towels go in with the general white laundry
  11. I eat a mixture of homemade food and UPFs. Not all ready meals come from M&S
  12. I like dogs, and I don't always have mine on leads, including in public (working dogs, so well-trained and obedient, and know how to cross roads, etc. much to the amusement of the lady in the shop when I went to buy dog food. I didn't have a spare hand- two 16kg bags of food- for a lead). Also, despite people shaming me for it, my dogs were not adopted (I wouldn't put an unknown personality on someone else's livestock) and one of them was free, so I didn't buy her, either!
  13. Christmas cards, elf on the shelf, etc. don't happen
  14. Laundry stays out overnight, and if I put it in the greenhouse in the summer, it's bone dry in a morning. Scandalously, I also have a dryer (for the emergency laundry, or in winter)
  15. I never iron, because I didn't get that gene. I got the 'fabulous at cooking' gene instead. (Never the twain shall meet, as you're good at either one or the other in my family!)
  16. Bedding and towels are not washed every day
  17. I have admitted to my hobbies on here... but none of them are cycling
  18. I don't know how long a Mumsnet really chicken lasts, but I do know that I don't like dusting (live) chicken anuses with powder to treat them for the dreaded red mite...
BauhausOfEliott · 18/12/2025 11:17

I actively encourage my DP’s time-consuming and relatively expensive hobby.

I go to bed well after midnight and also get up late. I don’t consider a morning spent in bed to be ‘wasting the day’.

Despite reading being my main interest and probably one of the most important things in my life, I don’t have a house full of books. I read mainly on a Kindle and if I read physical books I sell them or take them straight to the charity shop when I’ve finished.

I have eaten egg mayo sandwiches on trains many times.

I think it’s perfectly OK for kids to drink tea and coffee from a young age.

When I have sex with someone, I couldn’t give a damn whether they’ve had a shower that day or not.
