Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

shower every 2 days
share towels
change my sheets when I remember to
wash my bras once in a blue moon
don't wash my hands after a pee when home alone
eat out of date food
shag strangers
drink 1-2 bottles of wine a week
use the word cunt liberally
have tattoos

Nothing wrong with “casual cunting”. Sometimes you just have to tell someone they are being a cunt.

I live my life without the burning resentment of the 'mental load' every time I have to spend 5 mins online updating the car insurance or similar.

Ha, I think this one wins the thread!

I thought of one last night while watching 'The Holiday.'

I answer my front door. Even if someone knocked it in the middle of the night and I was alone, I would answer it.

And because of this, I would get to shag Jude Law.

Hahahahahha

I'm also another one who loved having visitors when I had a newborn. You want to come to my house, hold my baby so I can go to the toilet, drink a coffee and have my arms free. YES PLEASE.

I was also delighted for my MIL and parents to come round and just and sit and hold the baby and to see them bond. I didn't demand that they (or anyone) do my housework or cook a meal for me.

I also don't do "shaking and crying" or at "my wits end" over the smallest inconvenience.

I'd never use the phrase "get your ducks in a row" in real life (or on here for this matter).

Alpinette · 16/12/2025 13:37

I would sooner die than be so rude as to bag a table in a cafe prior to purchasing at the counter my food / drink.

I think most of the 10 for £10 book bundles from The Works are shit and I don't mind if you give my child a party bag full of plastic tat as long as it doesn't have a fucking bouncy ball in it.

SmallTortoise · 16/12/2025 13:36

I like other people's dogs and happily give them a pat in a cafe/ park

Ok, but tell us HOW? 😂

(I’m only half joking)

BackToLurk · 16/12/2025 13:34

Put the dog bowls in the dishwasher.

And the dog in the bed.

Crushed23 · 16/12/2025 13:34

Walk around in gym clothes most of the time.

Live in America.

Enjoy Christmas markets.

🤗

SmallTortoise · 16/12/2025 13:32

I loved chatting to other parents at the school gate. Some of them are friends.

HelpMeGetThrough · 16/12/2025 13:31

I fart like a foghorn, in any room and in front of my OH. In fact, I was lifting the sheets beautifully last night. 💨

My bowels are fucked, but you can’t beat a good fart that makes you feel like you’ve expelled the worlds supply of gas.

Somethingneedstochange78 · 16/12/2025 13:30

If there’s nobody else in the park I like to have a go on the swings and zip wire.😃😃😃

Catinabox21 · 16/12/2025 13:29

I don’t believe that people automatically become elderly and frail over the age of 60.

Peclet · 16/12/2025 11:51

Have a loo brush.

Me too😂😂😂

MargoylesofBeelzebub · 16/12/2025 13:27

(Don't do these anymore)

  • Taken drugs (and don't regret it)
  • Had one night stands (and don't regret it)

(Ongoing)

  • Don't wash my bedsheets as frequently as most
  • Didn't marry before having kids
  • Friends with my ex even though he's still an alcoholic
  • Eat big portions
  • Have a large breed dog
Punkerplus · 16/12/2025 13:26

I also enjoy playdates and socialising with other families and friends at a weekend. We've always got an open house at a weekend. This concept that weekends is "family time" only I feel is for parents only who don't want to socialise outside their own house. Modelling good relationships is so important for children but kids want to be around other kids!

The first thing I did when I got back from hospital with both babies was have a glass of prosecco.

Spudlover · 16/12/2025 13:25

I had an affair with zero guilt. I left my abusive first husband for OM and we have been together 26 years now. And no, I don’t believe I should have left first, it was meeting DH that allowed me to see the wood for the trees and how people really treat those they process to love.

willitevergetwarm · 16/12/2025 13:25

I get drunk occassionally, despite being a grandmother
I buy and write/wrap cards and presents for my in-laws (they are my family as well)
I have 2 loo brushes which get used
A whole chicken doesn't last for 5 meals for 5 people

Oakmilkwanker · 16/12/2025 13:24

I've taken an insane amount of drugs in my lifetime.

KittyFinlay · 16/12/2025 13:24

Eastie77Returns · 16/12/2025 12:46

Oh I drink alcohol around my DC and have several glasses a week.

According to MN folklore this means I am a) an alcoholic and b) the worst kind of mother because you should never drink when home with children - you might have to drive them A&E.

I don't drive either, another Mumsnet faux pax. Oh and my stepdaughter is non-binary and I respect that, I'm sure that will raise hackles!

Attempt333 · 16/12/2025 13:22

I WFH and spend a lot of my time doing housework

JHound · 16/12/2025 13:22

I don't hate men and think they're all lying, cheating scumbags.

I drink quite a lot of wine.

I don't actually mind Bayliss and Harding.

I have been on and enjoyed an all inclusive package holiday.

I have a dog, I love her, she's part of my family and I let her sleep in my bed.

A chicken would not last my family a week. It wouldn't last a day.

I have no desire to wear a shapeless colourful sack to my events.

I am size Walmart.

I do not have a penis beaker.

Edited

Penis beaker??????

Alpinette · 16/12/2025 13:22

I’m not on instagram and though I try to have an acceptable appearance, couldn’t care less what anyone thinks I look like.
