Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

I also take my dogs to cafes, shops, cinema when they’re allowed. 😱

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 16/12/2025 13:57

I have a 55kg guarding breed dog
I have long hair and I'm over 60
I don't drive
I eat carbs
I get along better with men than I do with women
I don't shower every day
I dry the washing outside

pizzaHeart · 16/12/2025 13:57

I think there are different extreme camps, not sure which one I fit in but I do iron a lot, even bedding.
I do packed lunches for teen DD and DH.
We have leftovers of roast chicken for tomorrow lunch but it’s only 3 of us so I supposed other skillful mum would get at least a week out of it.
I send and like to receive Christmas cards
I never do Yorkshire puddings, bread sauce and gravy for any sort of roast - Christmas or not. (hiding now)

GennaroHolly · 16/12/2025 13:57

I only half heartedly sort my recycling.

I throw some food away as I'm not a fan of frantically freezing leftovers or eating them again.

I formula fed by choice.

I like celebrating my birthday, even at my big age.

I eat UPF.

I communicate with my husband's family, all by myself, and don't believe it is just his job to do so. I actually see them as my family too. Even my MIL who is a real sort at times.

Isometimeswonder · 16/12/2025 13:55

I have 3 courses when I go out for dinner.
And I eat every last bit with no guilt!

I have found my people

I'm from Scotland and where I live, people practically use the term cunt as a term of endearment.

Backtorealityerr · 16/12/2025 13:53

I think the generational buzz words genz, boomers etc are disrespectful.
Young people are not all entitled brats and older people are not selfish and responsible for the shitty state of the country !

BellRock1234 · 16/12/2025 13:53

I let my kids listen to audio books on their £20 Echo Dot, rather than paying over the odds for a Yoto player.

There are lots of great kids books included in my Spotify subscription, and constant Audible free trails, £1 membership deals, etc. I do not understand why people are paying over the odds for a hand-knitted version. It's over £160 for all the Harry Potters! I got them all in a cheap Audible membership. If you use a kindle eReader, it syncs it all up so you can swap between eBook and Audible seamlessly(ish) too.

I really think this is a product for people with more money than sense.

sammyspoon · 16/12/2025 13:52

I don’t drive, I knowingly allow 16-17 year olds to occasionally drink alcohol under our roof, I let my dog off lead in public places, knowing she has terrible recall.

NoisyViewer · 16/12/2025 13:52

I’m new to mumsnet & I’ve upset a few people because.

1/ I don’t cook separate meals at dinner time.

2/ I’ve made my child go on holiday

3/ I value you my husbands opinion & contribution to our family.

4/ I don’t think just because your child wants their mom to do bedtime means the dad some kind of wrong un.

LochSunart · 16/12/2025 13:51

I be male.

sleepyjessie · 16/12/2025 13:51

I pay £60 a month for my phone contract. I upgrade my phone regularly and don’t stick with an old phone till it’s completely done. My entire life is on my phone. I will always pay for it.

I would sooner die than be so rude as to bag a table in a cafe prior to purchasing at the counter my food / drink.

I genuinely never knew there was etiquette surrounding this until now. I’m surprised I’ve not been chinned. I thought the point of having children was to dispatch and secure seating whilst I queued!!!

Nothing wrong with “casual cunting”. Sometimes you just have to tell someone they are being a cunt.

I have found my people

GreatestDay · 16/12/2025 13:49

We have multiple big wall mounted TVs

We have very few books and no bookshelves, we use kindle instead

We had a vegan wedding

We sent thank you texts, not cards for our wedding

I don’t attend funerals if I don’t want to

We spend loads on our children for Xmas, even though they’re now older. When they were younger they had loads of ‘plastic tat’, more normally known as toys.

We are happy to give people cash for their wedding if they ask for it

We sent our children to private school

Our children can live at home as long as they like

We decorate our house for autumn

We do a special breakfast on 1st December and Xmas eve boxes

We have let children have a day off school occasionally because they just didn’t want to go or for their birthdays some years

We have a second home and also another 2 properties that we rent out

We all have find my iPhone on our phones without feeling like we are being tracked or monitored.

We still help our kids out and do nice things for them despite them being older teens and adults

I can say no without feeling bad. Mumsnet seems to be full of wet lettuces

Bundleflower · 16/12/2025 13:48

I haven’t seen my house keys in months.

Coffeeishot · 16/12/2025 13:48

I don't mind giving money for wedding gifts even if ive been invited to evening only.

I open the door when someone knocks on it..... even shock horror..... when I'm not expecting anybody.

I've also also shared towels with other family members. 😱

Thank you! 😂

HisNotHes · 16/12/2025 13:46

I don't shower every day (I don't smell and it's better for skin).

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 16/12/2025 13:46

I earn under £150,000
Answer my door
Did not call my dc stupid names
As for toilet brush............noooooo🤑

OilyRoundTheCogs · 16/12/2025 13:45

If somebody specifies no presents, then I take them at their word instead of tying myself into knots over a "token" gift that nobody wants.

I also seem to have missed the boat when they were doling out those magical MN eyes with special filters - you know the threads..."but why were you looking at their bum/breasts?" Well, because my clearly defective eyes see the whole person and I don't have a special feature that blocks stuff out.

Dollymylove · 16/12/2025 13:45

Let my kids sit in front of the telly all day (pre internet)
Potty trained them adequately before starting school
Gave my kids dummies
Gave my kids sweets
Never breastfed
Had a fag now and again when pregnant
Didn't and still dont believe in this gentle parenting shit.
Made sure my kids knew the full consequence of bad behaviour 🤩

Scarlettpixie · 16/12/2025 13:45

I have a loo brush but it's just for show (in the DS loo).
I sleep with my dog.
I wash her dishes in the dishwasher.
I don't have a washing line and never dry clothes outside.
I don't change my bedding as often as I should (would like).
I shower 2/3 times a week.
I co-slept with DS until he could sleep through.
I drink wine most days.
I am friends with my ex-husband.
I invited 2 people to my wedding because my mother in law asked (nicely). No drama.
I am not offended if I am not invited to a wedding or if I am only invited to the evening do.
I have fake grass.
I have piercings and tattoos.
I didn't mind when my son got piercings and a tattoo.
I let workmen use my loo.
I have been single for 7 years and I like it.
I am vegan.
I eat carbs.

Portia10 · 16/12/2025 13:44

I do not like the smell of clothes when they have been dried outside. I often put the clothes in the dryer AFTER they have been outside....... I'll get my coat 😳

Epidote · 16/12/2025 13:43

Peclet · 16/12/2025 11:51

Have a loo brush.

I have one of this, we use it and miraculously it was never been mistaken for a tooth brush, back brush or hair brush. I didn't know I deserve jail for it. LOL
