Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

Oh I have zero problem with the words slut slapper slag whore or cunt.. Regardless of to a man or women.

I have piercings and tattoos.

FragileIsAsFragileDoes · 16/12/2025 16:33

I have never done a child-centred holiday. We have gone where I (or occasionally DH) wanted to, and they have always come with us. Including walking holidays.

Shared money with DH. Seems to be an MN no-no. What is the point in being in a team if you don't both benefit from teamwork?

All the slovenly stuff - loo brushes, unwashed sheets, contaminated toothbrushes. All good.

I have never blocked anyone I know, and think it is childish and cowardly (unless you're being stalked).

I don't mind swearing, and do it plenty, but I object to the word cunt. Strikes me as horribly misogynist.

I think using 'parenting' as a verb is unhelpful and makes people see it as a chore. The whole purpose of 'being a parent' (progressively forcing independence on your offspring, whether they want it or not) until they fall out of the nest seems to have been lost in the sickly miasma of creating perfect family lives and making indelible memories.

Open the door when the doorbell rings, regardless of whether I am expecting someone.
Take in parcels for neighbours and will take them around when I see the neighbour is home.
Have a toilet brush in each bathroom.
Allow Ddogs to sit on the sofa and sleep on the bed.
Pay my TV licence.
Keep a huge Moho on the driveway.
Leave washing on the line overnight (including undies).
Iron everything.
Have a landline.
NEVER had Netflix, Sky, Amazon Prime etc.
Shared finances with DH with no scrutiny of bills or asking if we can buy something.

I bought my house after having one look around with the estate agent - no second visit for me. Whatsmore DH didnt see it before we moved in (this was all several years before Covid) - we reasoned that it would be fine, we knew the area and the specific road, the photos on Rightmove looked reasonable and we trusted that the surveyor we employed would highlight any problems. DH trusted my jusgement.

Whatsmore when we moved in we didnt change the locks!

We love the separate toilet and bathroom and have no desire to knock through - we find we have no difficulty moving into the bathroom to wash hands.

Our dog has his own pillow which he sleeps on between ours at night. Sometimes when its cold he snuggles under the duvet

We keep the front door unlocked and answer it without thinking when someone knocks; are more than happy to take in parcels for neighbours.

Theres more I'm sure...

The male sex is comprised of some cunts, some lovely people, and some who are jut OK - just like my own sex

I’m definitely gender critical, but I dislike when TERFs refer to women who don’t agree as ‘handmaidens of the patriarchy’. I completely disagree with gender ideology but women are allowed to have different opinions 🙄

Relatedly, I don’t believe that we (in the UK) live in a patriarchy

I have more than 2 piercings

I adore my tumble dryer

I eat pretty healthily, but I don’t give a shit about UPFs in Aldi bread and every so often I gasp treat myself to chocolate and takeaways

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/12/2025 16:29

I actively prefer pubs and cafes that welcome dogs. 🐶❤️

I eat my tea on a tray in front of the television.

Same!

I’ve taken mine to places too. My eldest was 2 when I took him to The Louvre and he was very well behaved and quiet.

Yes but don't you understand we shouldn't ever take the risk they may act up briefly and bother someone?

Apparently the mere presence of a toddler stresses people out according to MN😂

Women leave the house to escape their apparently much wanted children, how dare we impose the presence of our own children on them when they're trying to forget the little terrorists they have at home.

Red125 · 16/12/2025 16:12

Don't regulate screen time
Allow my (older) children to swear (not at people or the f or c words)
I have smoked weed
I have a toilet brush
I was an unmarried SAHM for several years (we did get around to it eventually)
I eat processed food

I named my child something the entirety of Mumsnet told me not to (no regrets)
I never lock my front door during the day if I’m home
send my child to private school even though it’s not the most financially responsible decision

I named my child a foreign name of a country we have no links with.

My kids went to private seniors, nearly killed me financially but don’t regret it (though don’t recommend for their future kids unless they have a lot of money).

wobblers · 16/12/2025 16:12

Use Chatgpt to talk about my relationships (I didn't have any parenting and had multiple abusive relationships so it helps).

Oh I remember in the 80s we had a bathroom carpet! My friends mum had a sunken bath and it was carpeted right up to thr outside edge

We had one too. It was lovely.

While I get this, nobody's actually forcing you to respond. I never send Christmas cards, but am happy to receive them, as I guess sending them gives people joy.

I know, I should just text a thank you with some added chit-chat. I really don’t need or want physical cards but I am always gracious as I have manners 😊

Catpiece · 16/12/2025 16:09

I like lager and often get pissed on it. I get on well with all my family members. I dry my washing in the garden and I don’t care less about it getting darked on or spiders rubbing their willies on it; feel free. I let my year 6 son walk a mile and a half to school on his own back in the day. I never got involved with chatting at the school gates. I love the next door neighbours and they love me.

I am not considering withdrawing my child from nursery despite the fact a man works there, there’s no CCTV, she has become ill several times over the last couple of months and she was once allowed to not nap all day 😱

When I get a Christmas card through the post I am not delighted, I am more Fuck who sent me a card! Because now I have to traipse into town to the post office and buy damn expensive stamps (because I very rarely need stamps nowadays) and a box of cards. I’ve been trying to wean people off sending me cards for years but some still slip through the net 😒

I dont have a cleaner.
I own a loo brush.
I dont believe men are personal atms.
I dont use kids as wepons or piggy banks.
I watch GB news thats a big telling off on here for me.
I dont believe all neteer have SEN.
I dont do christmas.

What makes you think that not having a cleaner is what's frowned upon on here? It's the opposite, if anyone has a complaint about their cleaner, the refrain is 'clean your own house'. Funnily enough, nobody would say that about a problematic plumber or joiner or electrician.

Yes, I allow tradies to use my toilet as well!

Another one who allowed both tradies, and once an absolute stranger of a delivery guy, but it was his very first day and he didn’t know where he was supposed to find a restroom without going “over” his time slots for delivery. He was in and out of my loo in two minutes, and very, very grateful - didn’t take the mick, and never asked to use it again.
