To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

'an iota' of research. Once more, this thread is specifically about antisemitism. If you feel so strongly about Islamophobia I respectfully suggest you start your own thread.
Meanwhile I have yet to see Muslim schools and places of worship with the enormous kind of security that Jewish ones have.
A colleague of my DD told her only yesterday that her children in primary school have to learn 'Sleeping Lions' and play dead in the event of a shooter arriving in their classroom, so please stop with your divisive accusations.

So sad. And infuriating because it absolutely should not be happening.

the majority of the 1200 people butchered to death in 7 October 2023 were young people at the Nova festival.

The massacre on 7th October was abhorrent. Israel's response has been disproportionate and is also abhorrent. Nothing justifies the levels of violence on either side.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but it looks like "globalise the intifada" isn't going to be acceptable any more in London and Manchester: https://news.met.police.uk/news/joint-statement-from-the-commissioner-of-the-metropolitan-police-and-the-chief-constable-of-greater-manchester-police-504494

Thanks. I hadn't seen this.

HappyFace2025 · 17/12/2025 16:39

It seems that there are posters on this thread who have (conveniently) forgotten that the majority of the 1200 people butchered to death in 7 October 2023 were young people at the Nova festival. The comparison with Glastonbury is relevant.
Meanwhile back to antisemitism which this thread illustrates that it is alive and well and living in the UK.

I don't think for one moment that @LucyWestenra has done what you suggest at all. This thread is about rampant anti semitism.
While Islamophobia is also an issue, currently there are no Jewish terrorists running wild and murdering innocent Muslims.

There absolutely are btw if you do an iota of research, to suggest there aren't radical settlers or zionists killing Muslim people is just a blatant lie or do you just not actually look into it before saying that? I also think being so dismissive and putting normal Muslim people against Jewish people (and suggesting Islamopgobia is no where near as bad) in times when people of both religions are scared to go outside is sowing division.

I haven't been either, just pointing out a good example that posters are supporting extreme positions without a second of reading comprehension or nuance. Feel free to report any examples you feel have been nasty or aggressive but that's not intended at all so please feel free to point out. I happen to find people sowing division between groups facing violent nasty and I will happily clearly say so. Feel free to engage in my points though. I noticed I've asked you twice on your points which you've ignored but you'll respond to call me nasty. Did you want a discussion? Did you wanna answer the glasto question?

What is there to say?

Nothing, absolutely nothing whatsoever justifies those vile attacks on 07 October.

I used Glastonbury as an example because it is also a music festival, young people enjoying themselves etc

i thought that’s pretty obvious.

Throw in a dash of bigotry.

Its not bigotry to tell the truth. Something the left urgently needs to learn.

I mean a simple search would show you there's tons of Islamopgobia on here also. What is you have to say that you're so sure would get you called a bigot? It really reads like you're just sowing more division and putting two groups facing violence and discrimination in this country against eachother.

Okay but the thread asks if it is unreasonable to think that anti semitism needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way - what are your thoughts on that, rather than your thoughts about Israel and Hamas? Because bringing in the latter makes this about something else.

I think I have been clear i agree anti semitism should be tackled in the strongest way. The various attacks on Jewish people e.g. Bondi are abhorrent.

I think it is important to be clear that criticism of Israel (and disagreement with those who defend or support atrocities committed by Israel) do not constitute criticism or abuse of Jewish people, and should not be regarded as "anti-semitism", and that free speech denouncing actions of Israel, should not be silenced. Equally, Jewish people must not be required to give views on this conflict purely because they share a religion with a large proportion of the population of Israel.

I mean it absolutely is unless PP is saying war crimes are a proportionate response which of course they never are (hence the crime but!)

How is that justifying Oct 7 please by stating that a terrorist attack at Glastonbury is not an identical situation given as far as I'm aware Glastonbury isn't illegally occupying anyone. Comparing it to a similar situation with the same nuance such as the UK's occupation of Ireland too complicated?

Also how dare you insinuate I am justifying anything, if you continue to make stuff up I'll report it as a personal attack 👍🏿 Use your thoughts and your words to make a point instead of reaching for an untruth and twisting words

Well said @Genericfestiveusername

I have no issue at all with having picked a side and I can’t see what a balanced view would look like given that only one side is comprised of evil, sadistic, depraved, genocidal maniacs.

Again, please someone tell me what would have constituted a proportionate response to the unspeakable atrocities of October 7?

Not war crimes? Is that so hard? 🫠

Genericfestiveusername · 17/12/2025 16:24

LucyWestenra · 17/12/2025 15:15

Yes, you wouldn’t be able to say half of what has been said on here before people would lose their minds and jump up and down while screaming ‘Bigot!’

Well said.

People who justify Oct 7 in any way should take a long hard look at themselves.

I would like to comment (in my own defence?)

I do not agree with the actions of Israel in Gaza.

I also do not agree with the actions of Hamas.

I do not hold any Jewish (or Palestinian, or Islamic) person accountable, or expect them to denounce Israel. I agree that expecting Jewish people to have to "pick a side" & denounce Israel or face abuse is antisemitic and this needs to be tackled.

However i do think:

  • criticism of Israel is not anti semitic.
  • criticism of Hamas is not anti-islamic.
  • people who openly praise/defend/support Hamas's actions, or Israel's, do appear to be "picking a side" and this can lead to criticism of their view, as many people feel the actions of both have included atrocities. This does not mean those people deserve anti semitic or anti islamic abuse in response - we have freedom of speech.

I have found it frustrating on this thread that those most unreasonable and anti semitic responses have been pounced on and acknowledged, while more balanced views have been ignored.

I have no issue at all with having picked a side and I can’t see what a balanced view would look like given that only one side is comprised of evil, sadistic, depraved, genocidal maniacs.

Again, please someone tell me what would have constituted a proportionate response to the unspeakable atrocities of October 7?
