I’m just starting my Xmas shopping … I know I know… my 6 year old has put this on her xmas list. They’re ugly little dolls right? A six pack… she must mean small ones. I can only find keyrings. She’s also written “Labubu pencil case”… why aren’t there any Labubu things on Amazon?! Please help!

So I take it that Labubus are still “in” for younger children at Christmas this year? I cannot understand the appeal, but they have still appeared in our list this year but was concerned the trend would be over by Christmas Day 😂

I am refusing to collude with all this Labubu nonsense. My DD asked for a Labubu too but she will not be getting one. Kids are so spoilt nowdays.

Sheesht, poor kid.

magicalmadmadamim · 13/12/2025 06:59

I used to think they were ugly and creepy but i am a millenial and remembered we used to have 'Trolls'

Maraa · 13/12/2025 06:54

Home bargains do pjs and a fleece blanket, I got these and one labubu for my daughter cuz I cannot justify the price. Also, there’s loads on Vinted. I managed to get a labubu style lego set

They are horrible. I can’t believe I’m having to spend my money on this shite!

thanks for all the help.

Then don’t! It’s okay to tell your kids that you couldn’t get the overpriced stuff on the Xmas list.

It’s about teaching them to manage expectations.

Get some accessories or something (someone mentioned socks, the pencil case, a t shirt) but when it’s something that’s big ticket prices for what is essentially a trend that in a few months will be gathering dust in a toy box…. Just don’t prescribe to it.

kids need to learn and learn young that we aren’t bottomless money pits, that everything has a price and that somethings are just unreasonable or unrealistic. And not just at Christmas but all year round.

Re Xmas we actively curate our DCs wish lists. If there is something crazy on there…. Whether it’s expensive, ugly, unattainable, would not let my kid be seen dead in, etc etc we just look it at it, laugh, make a joke and say oooh not sure about that you can out it on but can’t see it happening.

When younger we also went with the line that “we send Santa money so Santa can only bring what we can afford” which helped keep the magic of Santa but with realistic attitudes

now teens they still write lists so we know what they want, and they still stick some stuff on that’s crazy (£24 lip gloss ?! Fuck off) but it works brilliantly because they know that a reasonable list means they actually get most of what they want…. Which is great

Honestly the kids have never ever been left upset because they didn’t get something.

Booboobagins · 13/12/2025 04:45

There's a Pop Mart shop on Amazon.

A set of 6 is expensive, so I'd get her a blind box as a surprise - she doesn't need them all and you maybe need to manage her expectations too - or if you can afford all six, give her a couple for Christmas, a couple for her birthday and the others when she's been good a deserves them during 2026. Ask her which ones she wants to because there are the stand up and sit down ones.

The pencil case sounds nice.

Don't buy a fake everyone will know and she will be bereft if her friends point it out to her.

Pepperedpickles · 12/12/2025 07:54

Well, yes but didn’t you ever want anything as a kid just because it was the “in” thing?

I don’t know why people have to be so judgey about it. If you don’t like them that’s fine, but don’t be so mean about someone trying to get something for their child for Christmas that their child really wants. It’s all just a bit of fun really, it’s not hurting anyone.

I agree. I’m in my fifties and when I was a kid it was Mr Frosty.

I didn’t get one.

Whichone2024 · 12/12/2025 21:29

But also why are they so little and so ugly lol

https://ebay.us/m/Vm98IC

what about this … she will not care if the boxes are opened . I can put some nice tape over or something… but I know she won’t care anyway . Does this look okay ? It says all six included

Actually the eBay one is not a bad shout! You could use glue to close the boxes!

I would get 1, and then a letter from Santa saying he could only give one so there were more for other children and then a resilience chat with her if she is disappointed

That is way over the top. You just need to make it clear to children that they won’t get everything on their list, just some things from it.

You can choose one box but you can’t choose a specific one. The mystery of not knowing which one you get is part of the whole thing for most people. (If you buy the set you do get the whole set).

Yeah i know but u can buy full series

CountryMouse22 · 12/12/2025 19:22

Whatever happened to Cabbage Patch Dolls?
(And Fuzzy Felt but I am showing my age now!)

RabbitsEatPancakes · 12/12/2025 19:18

Aldi have some fakes or copies in. They're just as "safe" as the real ones but only 3.99.

There's definitely a good mix of them in our playgrounds so the kids seem perfectly accepting of the copies.

GreenGodiva · 12/12/2025 17:50

BunnyLake · 12/12/2025 11:34

I would rather buy one real one and then some unofficial themed merch like pj’s, notebooks etc.

yet the op said that she wanted fakes 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/12/2025 15:16

That Labuland site does say at the bottom ofthe page (not hard to find either)

"Our collection features independent editions that capture the spirit of popular designer toys. These products are not part of the official Pop Mart line and should be considered separate creations."

Zigazigarrr · 12/12/2025 15:06

They did arrive. We got the whole set as we were going to put them in the kids stockings. Just opened one and it is indeed fake. Gutted but least we know. So that's fake labubu landfill coming right up...

WTF?!!!!!

I lived through the Teletubbie, Buzz Lightyear AND PS2 Xmases (all the same kid, luckily he was and still is not at all entitled or a brat because otherwise I would have deeply resented standing outside Disney store at 6am!) and even I find that outrageous.

This fucking profiteering of kids is disgusting.

Those thing will cost PENCE to make, the poor sods making them will be paid even less but because they do an online kid focussed marketing campaign, and kids are fucking stupid, some even stupider parents are prepared to pay the best part of £300 for something that will be lost or in the bin by next Xmas!

I don't think they did pitch to kids, did they? It was a teen/ 20 something influencer type trend that's now trickled down to kids as the crave has passed that market.

YouHaveAnArse · 12/12/2025 14:21

Zigazigarrr · 11/12/2025 23:29

These will almost certainly be fakes, if you get anything at all.

I'd assume anything sold on Vinted, eBay etc is not the real thing.

Kingwull · 12/12/2025 13:15

Lidl have these just now…

Child wants a “6 pack of Labubu” for Xmas and I haven’t got a clue
bridgetreilly · 12/12/2025 12:20

A good principle to establish early on is that you get some things from your list but not everything on your list, So, one Labubu but not 6 would be fine.

BunnyLake · 12/12/2025 11:34

GreenGodiva · 12/12/2025 08:51

Home bargains for labubus ( knock off) and I certainly wouldn’t be paying for real ones.

I would rather buy one real one and then some unofficial themed merch like pj’s, notebooks etc.

Oneborneverydecade · 12/12/2025 06:56

They're only available Pop Mart and a few high end retailers, I'm surprised you wouldn't know they were fake.

I bought them from a wholesaler and at the time didn't know anything about them. That's my problem but I never put them on sale as I found out days later and wouldn't put any child at risk.

I made a mistake as I don't usually stock child related items but I corrected that mistake straight away by not selling them.

myhaggisblewup · 12/12/2025 11:11

cakebreak · 12/12/2025 09:36

You don't have to get your child everything they ask for!

As for the pp who said it was 'controlling' not to buy what the child asked for.
FFS we love our kids BUT they do not get to guilt trip their parents /carers in that way.
Give it a few weeks after christmas and this will be in the bin because a new trend has some along and the thing you spent ££s on is 'boring and sooo lame'.
It's kids being kids and fomo.

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/12/2025 11:09

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 12/12/2025 08:07

Tbh I'm quite tempted to buy myself one and I'm 36 😅.

We (mostly) all had something like this - the furbies, the Pokémon cards/games, Ty beanie babies (god knows how much my parents spent on those, they never did end up actually valuable!). I've spent £40 on bluey stuff for my toddler...

I hear all the comments about spoiled, value for money etc, but is Christmas day really the time for those lessons? And if we all really evaluated what we spend our money on it wouldn't come out much better (Chanel perfume I bought the other day? Mark up must be colossal. The package etc only feels luxe because I've been socially conditioned to feel like it does. Bet the ingredients ain't that pricey). Labubu might feel very worth the money to her.

In your shoes, I'd buy her one real one, the pencil case and perhaps some cheap jammies.

We did... but asides from the card packs which were blind (but relatively cheap), you could see what you were getting, the gambling element wasn't there.

Er @Geranium879 did she want the keyring/bag pendant size or the larger size, as the wrong one will be devastating of course. Not sure everyones realised that the £279 six pack is a larger sized doll vs the £108 six pack which is keyring/bag pendant sized.
