Have used this lady multiple times no problem, really great cake maker, reliable etc. Our youngest kids are friends from school, sometime socialise outside of school

Ordered a cake for December 10th, sent money via bank transfer, messaged the day before to arrange a collection time, no reply. Messaged again the morning of, received a reply at 1pm saying she got her dates mixed up she thought it was for the 12th and offered a refund straight away. I was annoyed but messaged saying these things happen.
Asked if she needed bank details, no reply, messaged her again today twice, no reply.
Shes since removed me as a friend on Facebook (not blocked)
Have I lost this money? Im tempted to write it off as bad experience but didn’t want to leave it on a sour note as our kids are friends.

AIBU: let it go
AINBU: message her again tomorrow, leave a bad review on her Facebook page

Strange tomun friend you on Facebook. Can you ask for charge back from your back. Keep asking for your money back.

If you have used multiple times it seems unlikely that she has set out to scam you

Okiedokie123 · 11/12/2025 22:24

She’s taken your money, failed to fulfill the order and has now binned you on fb. Of course you should confront her.

I think something has happened to her, I doubt cake makers are the scamming type, wouldn’t you have to love it?
I’d use bank to get a refund

Newname09 · 11/12/2025 22:18

The fact she’s deleted you off when it was her who messed up would boil my pee, and she can’t blame it on the fact you had a go at her because you say you were quite understanding.
go to her door!!

It's shit but I think it's more likely something bad has happened - she's ill or somebody died or she's really struggling.

Given your history i'd give at least a couple of days grace before announcing her as a scammer and leaving bad reviews.

Ask her when you see her?

Our paths don’t cross (senior school run) unless I just go to her door? (feels a bit confrontational)

can you ask the bank to look into it for a chargeback?
