Aibu neighbours parcels

ParcelGrinch · 10/12/2025 12:44

My neighbour keeps getting all their parcels delivered to me, not a problem I work from home so I am always around. Bit annoying when I am in the middle of something though and need to stop to answer the door!

The problem I have is that their parcels keep piling up, it can be weeks till they collect them.
Twice now when collecting them - they have told me that the delivery drivers aren’t telling them where the parcels are despite the drivers telling me they will pop through a card or text them!
I have had ten parcels here sitting here for a fortnight and they haven’t bothered to collect them.. today another parcel turns up so I tell them I can’t take any more parcels, I don’t have the room and they aren’t telling the neighbours were to collect!
for them to tell me they are telling them to bring them to mine through their ring door bell!!

I find this really bizarre that they are lying about not knowing where their parcels are, and then just letting them all mount up! Are they expecting me to take them round? Confused

aibu to not take anymore? i literally have no space in my hallway from all their parcels!

Text or WhatsApp them???

hi neighbour - got 6 parcels delivered for you today - please collect asap .

Funnywonder · 10/12/2025 18:17

I would leave the parcels outside their front door and smile and wave into the ring doorbell camera as I leave. Then I wouldn’t accept any more.

I accidentally clicked YABU ffs, of course YANBU!!! We have a CF neighbour who used to do this, she eventually got the message when several attempts by delivery driver to deliver her treadmill to different neighbours all failed… I actually began to feel a bit sorry for the DPD driver as I watched him go from door to door trying to get someone to take the monstrosity 😆 He got an earful from a neighbour who works nights and was woken up!!! I either make sure I’m going to be in or get deliveries sent to a local collection point. Your neighbour is being a dick!

gruffaloaddict · 10/12/2025 17:53

Put them all on neighbours doorstep with a note saying you have no more room, ring the doorbell and tell them through that if you want… but make it v clear their free storage is over! What cheeky idiots!

CandyCaneKisses · 10/12/2025 17:49

I started to say no when one neighbour who I had never spoken to told the delivery driver that it was ok to leave a bed at my house.

Luluissleeping · 10/12/2025 17:47

There is a thread like this every week. Just refuse going forward and /or use the useful suggestions on this thread.

Glittertwins · 10/12/2025 17:13

I put you are being unreasonable purely because you should never have continued after the first time.
Dump them on their doorstep, get a camera doorbell so you don’t have to interrupt your work to answer the door

CraftyPlayer · 10/12/2025 17:06

Stop accepting them!

InMyOodie · 10/12/2025 17:05

There's one of these posts every few days lately. Just don't take parcels in for them!

briq · 10/12/2025 17:03

They've abused your goodwill and are lying to avoid looking lazy. I'd assume they're just too 'busy' (lazy) to collect them, though it could be a space issue, but surely if you're ordering things, you'll have to make room for them sooner or later.

I'd stop accepting their parcels, and if they ask why, say whatever suited me, since they have no problem lying to you. I'd probably just say you're too busy to answer the door. You are working, after all!

ednaclouda · 10/12/2025 14:57

10 parcels and you’ve been stuck with them for 2 weeks
that is really taking the p**s

one or 2 is the limit

Nomoresilly · 10/12/2025 13:53

Bloody hell… don’t “chuck” them!

Why not?
They'll have been chucked around in the back of a van to get to OPs house.

@ParcelGrinch If you're feeling kind, get a bin sack, stick all the parcels in and dump them over the fence, then text the NDN to tell them where they are and that you won't be accepting any more parcels for them.

Needingtoanewjob · 10/12/2025 14:06

Ten would annoy me if they'd built up.

We had two the other day for a neighbour and she sent one of the kids to pick them up.
We must have three a week for them.

We also had a parcel for another neighbour but only cos the delivery guy mixed the numbers up and he'd got ours. That cheeky-so-and-so had opened our parcel though.

ParcelGrinch · 10/12/2025 13:20

Yep thats what I gathered, they arent very big houses so I guessed they were trying to store them at mine. Going to give them one more chance to collect this evening, if they don’t bother I will just chuck them over the fence into their garden.

Bloody hell… don’t “chuck” them!

AwakeNotThruChoice · 10/12/2025 13:43

Just leave them outside their door?

surreygirly · 10/12/2025 13:41

Do not answer the door

mondaytosunday · 10/12/2025 13:40

Jeez just stop! On very rare occasion I’ve taken a parcel for my neighbour, and usually they ask if it’s ok (they travel a lot). My son took a large box in for a neighbour I don’t know and they took ages to collect it. Turns out they didn’t actually live in the house. Then two more large parcels arrive for them and I refused to accept them - turns out they had put my address as an acceptable alternative. Well F that! I refused and I guess they got the message as no more have turned up. I also make sure any packages I’m expecting are not delivered to neighbours.
You are not a post depot. I also have found that RM NEVER leaves a card. It’s only when I try tracking an expected parcel that I see it’s at the depot - which is not a neighbour!

BringBackCatsEyes · 10/12/2025 13:25

If this was me I would take them all round when I know they are in and then ask them to find an alternative delivery method as it's too disruptive for you during the working day.

At this stage, I wouldn't tell them I'm putting them in the bin or leaving them outside or sending them back as that's very immature.

IF they continue the use you then refuse delivery.

ParcelGrinch · 10/12/2025 13:20

Nearly50omg · 10/12/2025 13:04

Tell them to come and get their parcels or they will be going in the bin as you don’t have the space for them and are a storage facility!!! You realise that they will be using you to store Xmas presents so they don’t have to hide them from the kids don’t you?

Tell your neighbour to get their parcels or they'll be left outside (and do it) then refuse any more. Interrupting you at work is unacceptable.

EINSEINSNULL · 10/12/2025 13:08

Frogbear · 10/12/2025 12:45

No, just refuse them.

This. Put a note on the door 'only parcels for this address please'.

TimeToStopLurking · 10/12/2025 13:08

Every week I kept getting my neighbours food delivery box. He knew I was on maternity leave and likely home. The delivery would frequently wake the baby/me or catch me in the shower. One day I lost it at the delivery driver (always the same guy) and said to stop coming to my door and it wasn't my delivery. Turned out cf neighbours put me down on the delivery notes as they were never in. That massive box would be with me for days sometimes.

I've had a big carpet/rug arrive at mine. Also here for days. Aaaargh. I feel your pain.

I refuse the big parcels now. One cheeky courier slid it through my door, after I said I had no room for it! I slid it back out and said I wasn't taking it, and didn't care if it had me as an alternative delivery address as I hadn't agreed to it.

I don't mind doing favours but all the time as default is too much
