What has happened to Andrex?? It’s so flimsy and yet expensive!! My friend suggested Aldi brand but they didn’t have any in stock today. Please share the brand that you recommend!

Defo Nicky………..
especial thanks to Starship74 for their HB online delivery info!

RosesAndHellebores · 10/12/2025 07:06

I just buy supermarket own, double rolls, claiming to be soft or what's on offer or branded if cheaper or the same price.

The only time anyone complained was when I bought Lidl's. It was rougher than Izal.

TheChosenTwo · 10/12/2025 07:00

We get Cheeky Panda, I have it on a subscribe and save from Amazon.

Chuzzle · 10/12/2025 06:59

Who Gives A Crap works for us. We get the bamboo one. Plus we get to feel smug and virtuous because they put half of their profit into providing toilet facilities etc in developing countries.

Tumbleweed101 · 10/12/2025 06:58

Tesco 6 ok of double length rolls. The quality of these isn’t so good now but thicker than Andrex.

Who gives a crap still the best by far

Second this

Duechristmas · 10/12/2025 06:57

I was using Who Gives a Crap but couldn't justify the latest price increase.
I like Sainsburys best out of all the supermarket brands.

828Pax · 10/12/2025 06:56

I really like Asda shades quilted

WorriedMillie · 10/12/2025 06:40

Another vote for Nicky from Home Bargains! Thank you @Starship74 for the tip to bulk buy on line, I didn’t think of that :)

Either Sainsbury's or Tesco double length rolls. I gave up on Andrex when it became so flimsy. I made a note of prices and number of sheets per roll in the various shops and got my calculator out! I should get out more...

amibeingreasonablewiththis · 10/12/2025 06:28

Sainsburys double roles. They last ages

NeedANewOne25 · 10/12/2025 06:14

I don’t get the love for WGAC paper, it falls apart while using it.

Rubyandrewsjustlovingyou · 10/12/2025 06:09

Andrex rolls are tiny about half the size of what was once a toilet roll.
Cushelle not quilted or Asda shades depends on offer .

LaughingCat · 10/12/2025 05:45

We bulk buy loo roll off Groupon/Wowcher. Waaaay cheaper and much better quality than Andrex. It’s called Freedom Inspirations triple ply - http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/freedom-three-ply-toilet-paper-24

Soft and strong and £26 for 90 rolls compared to £12 for 24 rolls of Andrex.

EleanorReally · 10/12/2025 05:09

and Waitrose classic ultra soft

SandyY2K · 10/12/2025 05:08

Sainsbury's own brand (larger rolls) or cushelle. Morrisons also has a larger roll. I only buy 50% extra rolls, as I hate how quickly the others finish.

Andrex isn't what is used to be. Barely anything on the roll and trading on their reputation, but they're poor value for money.

I use Bazoo , order them twice a year. Decent and made of bamboo so doesn’t create dust in bathroom. Very similar to who Gives a Crap but I find that brand name vulgar so looked for something else.

100% agree with this. Don't like the WGAC name. Bazoo is lovely. They do tissues too.

EleanorReally · 10/12/2025 04:57

sainsbury's super softer

Total tangent, but anyone remember that terrible stuff they used to put in public toilets in the 80s? It was like greaseproof paper!

I believe it was called Izal (sp?) and was pale green… we had it for a while in our secondary school loos, it wasn’t practical!

bizkittt · 10/12/2025 03:16

Who gives a crap is overpriced sand paper shipped from china

Do you have a source for this claim?

We use WGAC and are happy with it.

I second the Nicky loo roll from Home bargains.
