AIBU to hate these people knocking on my door?

In the past week alone we have had THREE people knocking on our door, wanting me to give them my bank details so they can sign me up for £15+ a month for their charities.

One knocked after dark and when I politely made the excuse I couldn’t find my purse he then said “that’s ok, you have your phone just give your bank details from your online banking app”

They start by saying they don’t want money “today”, the one who knocked today I said I don’t want to give my bank details as soon as he spoke but then he said it’s ok you don’t have to you can do it through a text on your phone. He meant there and then before he left.

I’m bloody sick of them, if I didn’t have Christmas presents coming I’d not answer the door! They make me feel so awkward on my own doorstep. I know they have a job to do and it’s a way to gain trade but if I’m going to donate to charity it will be to ones close to my heart not just cos I was pressured on my doorstop.

When you realise it’s a cold caller just close the door again? 🤷‍♀️ Honestly, you won’t be the first or the last and you owe them nothing.

It's annoying. Don't encourage them by making excuses, if you feel uncomfortable with saying no, tell them that you are already signed up to a difference charity.
Wherever electricity provider sales people knock, I say, I have locked into a new contract recently. Goodbye.

Don't talk to them, why do you even get into a discussion about how or when you will pay, just say no.

Yeah I get them being on the high street or outside the supermarket, but knocking on doors is too much.

I'm lucky in that it's literally only happened once. The young lad looked so crestfallen I think he probably told the charity not to bother sending anyone round my area ever again! Not that I was rude. But I can't imagine anyone buying it.

The fact it was dark in itself wouldn't bother me though at this time of year as it gets dark really early.

I have a sticker on my door saying no cold callers but I would just say no if I answered the door, don’t make an excuse about not finding your purse, just say no I support the charities in want to already and I don’t give money to people knocking on the door!

  1. Dont answer the door to them.
  2. Lewen to be assertive and tell them to go away and shut the door.
  3. Get a sign that says no cold callers.

Hate this! We got this a lot and I ended up putting a "no cold callers" sticker on the window of our front door and we got nothing after that.
