Why is there even a chance of any of these two remaining here in the UK? They had their chance and ended up doing what they did.

There is no war in Egypt!

Clearly a wrongun....we don't need the criminals from other countries.

I actually have a theory about these asylums seeking criminals.

You don’t just get off a boat and start committing crimes. You have to be a wrongun in the first place. My theory is that many of these men are on some kind of wanted list back home. Maybe they’ve pissed someone off, maybe they have been threatened with the law or someone is after them for attacking their daughter or sister. Maybe their lives are in danger back home and their option is; get your legs broken or be killed back home, or flee to Europe.

You don’t just suddenly become a rapist or murderer. It’s built over time, and in these cases that would’ve been back home for them.

@OnTheNiceishList I think you're right in a lot of cases. There's a current court case in our neck of the woods - 3 men accused of raping a woman on Brighton beach in October. One Iranian and two Egyptian nationals, all currently seeking asylum in the UK. Why else would Egyptians need to seek asylum here ?

Not true. Some had dual nationality and there have been various trials since 2012 - the latest being this year. Five of the men convicted in 2012 were stripped of British citizenship in 2017, so they could be deported after serving their sentences. Those decisions were upheld at appeal in 2018, and of those five, one left the UK and has been banned from returning, one is still in the UK fighting deportation, and the others are still in jail - one of whom was brought back to the UK from Pakistan and jailed in 2020.

Like I said, none have been deported.

Rosscameasdoody · 09/12/2025 10:49

PrincessofWells · 09/12/2025 10:11

They are British citizens and the Tory government tried to remove two persons of their citizenship despite knowing those actions were contrary to both international and national law. That's why they have not been deported and are unlikely to be.

Sentence served, deportation and a lifetime ban on returning. This should be for any crime. If you want to come to the UK, you should, at the very least, abide by UK laws.

Exactly this! I always compare it to offering someone a home in my house because they're in a difficult situation but the minute they seriously abuse my hospitality, they're out!
I've lived in other countries and have always obeyed the laws of that country, I still feel a bit uncomfortable hanging washing out on a Sunday!

You clearly know very little about statistics and data and how the gathering of statistics can provide both intentional and unintentional bias. That's why the origin of the statistics is as important as the content. People with the benefit of an enhanced education are able to work these things out for themselves. There's some very good academic papers on this, why don't you seek them out and arm yourself with the knowledge as it does add coherence to ones arguments?

What’s incorrect in the graphic below?

You think the home office has been manipulating the data to make it appear as if there is a spike of 15-17yo asylum seekers and a dip in those 18-25?

Feel free to make your own graph using the data I provided. It’ll be the same.

Are you the person who created the graphic?

And that won't be happening.

Why not ? Happened in Rochdale.

Of course it matters who created the graphic. Data can be manipulated. Looking at the source of the graphic makes it is clear to me what they are trying to achieve.

Do you dispute the statistics? Why does it matter who made the graph using home office data?

Because with data, context and bias do matter.

There has just been another rape by an Afghan reported announced on TV and in the papers.

Afghan national charged with raping two 14-year-old girls in Bolton.

It happened on Sunday.

They should be deported they come from countries alien to ours.

Get them gone.

Anonanonnona · 09/12/2025 10:07

PandoraSocks · 09/12/2025 10:04

You are being slightly disingenuous I think. The graphic you posted wasn't created by the Home Office, was it?

StandFirm · 09/12/2025 10:06

I think those cases are absolutely awful and I'm wondering about the best way to serve justice for the poor girl. These two guys should 1) be punished harshly for what they've done, but it should be about what they've DONE and not what they are 2) they should serve their sentence in an adult prison, I thought there was some flexibility around that if the perp is close to turning 18. Deporting is all well and good but I thought the problem with Afghanistan and other similar countries is that afaik we can't deport migrants to states we don't officially recognise. Leaving the ECHR will do previous little to solve that particular issue. Finally, they will rape again back home and that might mean some poor girl may have to marry the lowlives. Of course, I don't want them to rape anybody here either...

I've just read the impact on the poor victim, the child is so anxious now she is often physically sick. No one puts the victim first and foremost. How does she feel about her attackers being freed in a few years? Seems the emphasis is on the attackers not the poor child raped.

That's exactly who should be the main consideration no matter where you stand politically .

You want me to Google things to help you support your position? I'd weirdly assumed that you already had some more information than 'the AI summary that Google produces' given the amount of asylum seeking/immigration/yada yada threads you pop up on. I mean you might for example be the kind of person laying all this at the feet of the present government while 'quoting' information relating to previous administrations, but without you seemingly able to cite the information you're presenting, who knows?

I’d prefer you to use the resource that is the internet to get what you’re after, instead of asking others to do it for you. It’s easily accessible.

You can do it I’m sure it’s not too hard. Just instead of posting a question to me post it in a search bar. If you think the below is wrong find out more.

Can you Google? Just out of interest. Is there something stopping you. Why do you need me to do it for you.

What do you mean? 🧐I am following the thread and have commented this morning on other posts on the thread. You often comment on my posts on other threads. And in this case I haven't even commented on your post, but replied to another poster. Is that not allowed?

A few minutes pretty good

And your was within one minute, which is even better!

Your post didn’t surprise me. But if you think the summary below is incorrect feel free to show it.

Having looked information shows eight is very low, but maybe you can find something to counter.

Hmm. Do you have a link please? The creator of that graphic (@juice8882) seems to be a far right Twitter account.
