Christmas cards to whole class

DS wants to send Christmas cards to his class. I know there are children of different faiths - is it offensive to send to the whole class assuming there will be children who do not celebrate Christmas? Feels mean to leave some children out but also don't want to offend. Don't want to get flamed for the question but would genuinely like advice.

Mine used to do one to each child in the class and then we’d get 30 x 2 of the fuckers back.

I am so glad those days are behind us and even more glas no-one our age sends Christmas cards any more.

Choose the one with cute reindeers or robins or dogs, put happy holidays in it and don’t overthink.

We've always done everyone and never had any problems in a very multifactorial school. We also got lots back from kids of different faiths.

Our primary school banned this on eco grounds. Writing 30 cards x 30 children is just NUTS. Never mind the expense of buying the cards in the first place.

School encouraged children who wanted to write a card to write a "class card" to all their classmates which would be displayed in the classroom. A LOT more sensible. Probably too late for this year but would definitely suggest it for next year.

The mini Christmas cards I bought in the sales cost £1 for 32. My daughter enjoys writing them.

I second ‘happy holidays’ or something around the festive season rather than ‘Christmas’.

Aw that’s a bit Scroogey. I used to love working through the register writing my cards. Even now I have my stash to give out and look forward to filling my shelf!

I would send cards to everyone. It's a lovely thing to do. Also insist on Happy Christmas, as that is what it is.

Anyone who is offended in a primary school setting, is their problem.

Do all kids, regardless of faith xx

mistletoeandandpie · 05/12/2025 17:26

You do you, not your problem if they get offended by a Christmas card at Christmas.

ImThePr0blem · 05/12/2025 17:25

The Christmas cards my kids bring home all say Happy Holidays or Enjoy the Festive Season. Ironic as we live in an extremely white British area, one black child attends the school.

bridgetreilly · 05/12/2025 17:23

It’s fine so long as they are not particularly religious cards.
