Poor women having to deal with him.
Is there any point to his life.
Dosent seem like he wants to live himself?

Not all autistic people are like him though?

No one is suggesting that autistic people are

and not all people who register high on the psychopathy test (which is controversial in itself) are like JB either

girlfriend44 · 04/12/2025 14:07

Its horrendous for people guarding him what if nobody wants to do it.

What does he do all day?
I think they should let him go if he wants too.

He's profoundly autistic. He just has a different brain.

I do think it's insane to make so much effort to stop him ending it all, that's not an irrational preference on his part.

The staff have a duty to prevent his death. They would be torn apart in coroners court if they were seen to have not kept him safe. Poor nurses.

Snowonground · 04/12/2025 13:59

We either have capital punishment or we don't. And if we don't we have to have prisons to hold the guilty for however long they are sentenced. Obviously in some cases I can see why we would want people not to carry on living. But the fact remains we don't execute them in the UK.

I don't disagree with your conclusion in the least, but I think you'll find it's the fact that JB is a psychopath, rather than the fact that he is also autistic, that is the reason for his appalling criminal actions.

Remarkably restrained of the BBC not to mention the ASC in its article tbf - possibly a first for them!

Peoplemakemedespair · 04/12/2025 13:54

No ones said that. You’ve just worded it to be hyperbolic. I want to know what the benefit is to keep a man alive who is mentally unwell, suffering, actively trying to end his own life, is a mortal danger to everyone around him, and when given the opportunity will murder little children in the most awful way?

HRTQueen · 04/12/2025 13:48

What are you suggesting we put down people who can't adjust to living in the community

He should not have been out with just two staff when the horrific incident took place in 2019 and taking him to a place where there will be a lot of people was poorly thought out

YANBU, I don’t see what point we’re making as a society by keeping people like this alive, costing us hundreds of thousands of pounds. The Southport killer too. They should be offered assisted suicide at least.

This is what I think too. Tell them they’ll never be released and discuss possible options if they want to make a different choice to life imprisonment. He’s 24 and could live to 100 odd. 3 members of staff 24 hours a day for the next 80 years potentially seems an unfathomable amount of money.

Wonder how he got that way?
Sad for his parents too.

Oh my god what have I just read. That poor 6 year old, how absolutely terrifying for him and his parents who must be heartbroken.

I’m very conflicted because on the one hand he is despicable and I want to hate him and be angry he is allowed to live.

On the other hand, he is clinically diagnosed with autism and psychopathy. So he can’t control his behaviour, or how his brain is wired.

Giving birth to a child like that must be a nightmare come true. His poor parents. Absolutely no winners here

He’s utter filth. I don’t know what the answer is. He shouldn’t be able to shirk out of his punishment, but it’s also heinous that the taxpayer has to pay to feed and house him for the rest of his life. Vile beast.
