DP putting his foot in it when meeting my friends for first time

I moved away from my hometown a few years ago for work, so don’t get back often. However I met up with friends over the weekend and introduced them to my DP. He rather put his foot in it, but swears it was nerves and he meant nothing by it. To not be too graphic, he basically told one of my friends that his ex would ‘allow’ a specific sex act at Christmas and on his Birthday. I wasn’t part of said conversation, but my friend told me and he admitted it. My friend said it was barely relevant to their conversation. Would you give him the benefit of the doubt if he’s otherwise been a great partner? Or do you think it’s a sign?

oh no, no, no, no. Not even remotely acceptable or excusable behaviour. Your friends must be wondering how to tell you your SP is an absolute creep.

JHound · 03/12/2025 22:13

I would really need to know context as on its own it sounds weird and creepy.

FlipFlopVibe · 03/12/2025 22:06

Discussing anal with strangers is weird, but discussing rimming is just vile, who does that?!

However this does sound like the deleted thread a while ago about a rusty trumpet…

IcyPuddles · 03/12/2025 21:55

It may have been mentioned already but aside from the very valid comments made above, this isn’t really “putting his foot in it”.

Putting his foot in it would be telling someone he didn’t like a cake and then finding out that person baked it.

This is just him being him.

He’d had a couple of pints at that point but was driving so that was all.

That’s also driving over the limit! Nope.

HofuckingHo.

It may have been done and resented quietly back when sexist misogyny ruled, but it's wildly inappropriate to talk about rim jobs to women you are meeting for the first time unless you're a fucking pervy creep.

Now we recognize men who do those things for exactly what they are, nasty creeps.

100% back in the late 80’s when I started working in The City, inappropriate sexist ‘jokes’ and behaviour was the norm. We tolerated it because to speak up almost certainly meant losing our jobs. Most of us always hated it and shuddered at the vulgarity on display.

Thank god times have changed and women can and do challenge misogyny and sleazy men. And also thankfully these men are fewer in their numbers.

Velveletteslonleylonelygirlami · 03/12/2025 20:59

I'm getting visions of those milky way star chocs.
Aye because talking about rimming comes up all the time when meeting others for the first time.
Creep!

Of all the times to be in close proximity to someone's arsehole, shortly after eating Brussel sprouts would be near the bottom of my Best Time for Rimming scale.

Oh Lord! Bring back the laughing emoji - if ever a comment deserves it, it is this! Hilarious...

Deluded
good men don't talk about rimming with a woman they just met during a conversation about Christmas Day
Still, crack on and we will no doubt see you a few years in when you wake up to reality - and it won't be pretty

Agreed.
I think this is why MN is such a weird space these days and class is a persistent topic in society.
He's the dregs. Women that tolerate such men have low desperate non standards, and they can't really be surprised when it doesn't end well with such oiks.

The minimising happened sooner than expected.

I interpret that as "he has money and is considered a catch, so I will put up with just about anything on the off chance of riding the gravy train."

My God people are so uptight these days ! The joke about getting a blowjob on Christmas and Birthdays is as old as the hills .. I’m 65 fgs and would just of laughed it off. He was probably nervous around new people and trying to be jovial !

If you think it's "uptight" to refrain from talking about sexually licking an anus to brand-new acquaintances; specifically how one's ex used to lick one's own anus as a Christmas treat, I'd hate to know what you DO think is pleasant social conversation.

Proudly upright, here. I subscribe to the saying "Sex is like money. People who really have it don't need to talk about it."

He’s a good man, respectful job, family values etc. Some people are going on like I am with a criminal which is really dramatic

A couple of pints and driving? That is not ok.

Talking to a woman you barely know about rimming is your idea of jovial?

I am in my sixties. This has never been an appropriate thing to do. It’s not some “new feminist woke culture” idealism. This man is GRIM.

A jovial chat about rimming? In response to a woman you just met talking about being tired? What kind of nerves make someone bring up rimming with their girlfriend's friends? It's totally weird and really not something anyone says out of nerves!

Nah, that’s time to say goodbye.

And make sure your friends know you dumped him.

Och be quiet

Blablibladirladada · 03/12/2025 18:34

Erm…

I am bemused. Seriously…honestly if he couldn’t recover from this with my friends…that would just kinda be the end…

and my thoughts…I don’t know. I just don’t think I have ever heard a discussion about what kinda of sex someone had with an ex from someone I met for the first time. It isn’t just an impression…he was deliberately sharing info no one asked or would have guessed to make him look good I guess? And that is why I would just not…even if my friends found it funny…

but then. How old are you guys? 20ish are just wild sometimes. Doesn’t scream keeper anyway.

Laurmolonlabe · 03/12/2025 18:10

It might be nothing, but it is worrying- decent men just don't overshare like this, especially about their ex.

Tigerbalmshark · 03/12/2025 10:40

Lurker25 · 02/12/2025 17:19

They don’t know his ex clearly. Nor would she have any reason to be aware of the conversation.

I am sure we’ve all spoken about exes at some point in time.

Edited

Tell you what, when you meet his mates, announce randomly that your ex boyfriend used to have such a massive cock you sometimes thought you’d need an episiotomy to get it all in. Oops, foot in mouth.

See how your respectful family values boyfriend reacts to that. Should tell you everything you need to know.

If a person 'allows' something, surely it's an act being performed on them.

Yes, you’re right, grammatically, but the context of this suggests otherwise.
