I think it is . Why make this decision at a time when anti semitism is increasing?

Wow! Did you mean to say that out loud?

What bit are you struggling with?

At a very basic level, if all human lives are equal, which is obviously a lot worse; 6,500,000 lives lost or 72,000 lives lost?

I dont think anyone thinks the antisemitic thugs are a majority, but a rising minority.
If you feel the rise is being blown out of proportion I'm interested in what caused you to assume this? Because unless you are Jewish yourself, living in a Jewish community over the period of time in question, I don't think you're in a position to judge this?

Rachel isn’t Jewish either it turns out.

I’m not the pp you were replying to, but I do absolutely think she should call out antisemitism wherever she sees it. However, I think it’s unfortunate that at times she misrepresents herself as part of the Jewish community. Probably because she feels so passionate as an ally, but it’s as well to be clear about things. Her voice is given more weight because she’s often assumed to be Jewish herself and to be speaking for her community.

I also think some of her articles or articles she is associated with give the impression that most Irish people are anti-semitic when they are not. The vast majority of Irish people were horrorstruck by the Oct 7 attacks. Statements like the following make it seem like Ireland celebrated, but that is not the truth.

When Irish people came out in celebration at the horrors committed on October 7th, Rachel, a PhD student from Dublin, stepped upto the plate.
(from a piece written by Jonny Gould and Rachel Moiselle on Substack).

I do think that Ireland has been targeted as anti-semitic because of their position on the war in Gaza. I do of course recognise there is anti-semitism here unfortunately and it has grown as it has worldwide recently. But the Irish people as a whole are not anti-semitic and did not celebrate the absolute horror of Oct 7th. I think Rachel needs to make that clearer even as she supports the Irish Jewish community.

All deaths in war are horrific but you don't cannot equate SIX MILLION systematically exterminated with either 500 k Roma nor 72 k Palestinians

Wow! Did you mean to say that out loud?

dairydebris · 08/01/2026 11:59

I think the genocide of 6 million Jews and 500k Roma people is horrific. I think the genocide of at least 72k Palestinians is horrific. Don't you?

Personally, I find the industrialized slaughter of approx 6.6 million completely innocent civilians, targeted because of their ethnicity and not because of anything they or any of their leadership did quite a lot more horrific than the slaughter of 72 thousand civilians and terrorists, because of a war started by their own leadership.

Find it odd that anyone disagrees tbh.

OMG you think Holocaust deniers are the same as those denying a genocide in Gaza? Shame on you.

There is absolutely NO comparison with SIX million Jews being systematically exterminated and 72K Palestinians dying in the past two + years.

And your opinion doesn't diminish the antisemitism that Jewish people openly talk about.

You're dead right, especially since I am vehemently and vocally against anti-semitism.

My opinion literally supports the fight against it.

Then my feelings about your stance are the same as the feelings I have towards holocaust deniers. It's despicable.

Knew it was only a matter of time til the Holocaust Inverters showed up... so depressingly predictable 🙄

Almost bordering on holocaust inversion. Really sick of seeing this shit.

I think you need to be very careful here. The two aren't comparable. The infamous holocaust is well documented, established and weaponised.

"Some" being genocide experts worldwide and reputable international institutions.

Not experts in my opinion. This is turning into the same rhetoric that's posted in CITME. I'm not exhausting myself any further.

Yes genocide narrative. Some believe there is one, some don't. I don't.

The genocide narrative? Is that when people call a genocide a genocide? Like the UN, for instance?

Yes, she is. This was a response to someone about there being no genocide, not related to Rachel.

Gotcha. I found the actual tweets. I agree with Rachel, can't excuse the tone deafness of this guy at all, especially as a staff member of an organisation where there may have been Israelis students.

As for this part, I can't verify any of it unfortunately. It's all too vague.

"TCD’s Chanukah event after 7/10 was described as an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience that Trinity refused to publicly promote, citing safety concerns. In February, an extremist figure was allowed to give a lecture in Trinity. Jewish students were sent the following: ‘College security are aware of the potential for trouble, but the event will be going ahead. Perhaps you should let Jewish students and staff know that it might be best for them to avoid the Art building between 6.00pm and 10.00pm’."

There are other parts that are pure conflation though. Being anti-Israel or pro-BDS is not anti-Jewish. No more than being anti-Apartheid was being anti South African.

bigboykitty · 08/01/2026 11:39

Kingscallops · 08/01/2026 11:35

There seems to be some major gaslighting going on here. Jewish people are imagining things. Some are more concerned with pushing the genocide narrative.

Sorry - it’s the first article!
Read half way down from ..
“On the morning of 7/10, as the massacre of civilians and children was still ongoing, a Trinity professor wrote on X: ‘Nothing lasts forever. Solidarity and strength to those who demand to be free’. “
