Shitty note from new Neighbours after moving in

We moved house on Friday - have had a hectic few days trying to sort things and have this week off work thankfully.

There is one bathroom in the house and this is upstairs at the front of the house which faces our driveway. Next to the driveway is a neighbours house directly opposite.

The seller has taken all blinds out of the property as is their right and we’ve spent today putting some new ones up, including in the bathroom.

Yesterday, a note got put through our door:

”Get blinds for your bathroom, we don’t want to see you having a shit”

The window is frosted but I assume at night with the light on you can see in.

This was obviously from our neighbours opposite. AIBU to say they went about this in a rude way? They could have sent a politer note or knocked on the door.

Lol, a sticker of a hand showing the middle finger on the bathroom window would me my preferred option but as I'm not very confrontational but I hate passive aggressive crap I may collect plenty of blinds leaflets and put them on their letter box as a hint.

Personally I’d take the blind down and just every now and again sit in the toilet (not for a wee or anything) just sit there with the light on when you know they are home 😂 but then I can be petty xx

Get a custom made blind so that every time you shut it, it reads C*NT into their window…that’ll teach em 😂😂

You could take the blind down after you are sure that they saw it go up and use the bathroom at all times with the lights on, perhaps with the addition of flashing lights! Then pop a note through the door telling them you”ll report them for voyeurism if they contact you about it. Something else that is absolutely infuriating (I’ve done it. Tee hee!) is to get a ln insanely bright security light, face it at their windows and time it so it comes on all night long. (Too expensive to do long term) Then deny all knowledge, claiming those are not the settings and reassure them you are concerned about burglars who are such a threat to you and them and there must be so many about to set it off.

Or, as you have to live next to these cockwombles, do nothing. (I once had some vile neighbours, but I only irritated them once in a blue moon so they couldn’t work out if o was doing it on purpose. 😂)

I would have taken extra.long time to put bathroom blinds up lol 😆 I live opposite a few back yards and none have blinds can only see shadows and blurs no idea if theyre at loo or in shower lol your neighbours being ridiculous lol

We got new neighbours a few months ago. They're horrible. They hate families and kids so we don't understand why they moved into a street with dozens of family homes. They've created such hostility and made living there a nightmare. All you can do is ignore them and get on with your life. Sorry that happened. There are too many miserable rude people nowadays.

Wow what twats! Clearly they need to get a life but what I’m wondering is who takes blinds with them?!! Aren’t they usually made to measure - what’s the chances of getting a house with the same size windows?!

Dh was instant we didn’t need a bathroom blind when we moved here as the massive window over the bath and shower was frosted.

I told him to go outside and look up that night, while I stood under the shower and waved at him lit up like the Blackpool illuminations. If I’d been naked, you’d have seen a lot.

We measured and ordered blind there and then.

The grown up way to handle it would be to knock on the door and say, “I know this is really embarrassing, but I thought I’d let you know you can see into your bathroom, you might want to get a window covering” and have a good laugh about it.

Only an absolute dickhead would write a note like that.

The thing is with shitty neighbours though, is everyone know they're shitty. I bet they've been shitty to others too, especially if all it takes to start them up is a blind.

Once you get chatting to the neighbours either side of you and mention the note, you'll probably start to feel better as they will no doubt confirm YANBU.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this in your new home and hope it doesn't ruin the experience xxxx

People can be such arseholes. On the day we moved in here, a really awkward house to get into with loads of steps and limited access, AND I was wobbling about 8 months pregnant.. A neighbour came and banged on the door and my lovely DH was all smiles because he thought we were being welcomed, the miserable git neighbour just barked at him about parking and stormed off.
