Shitty note from new Neighbours after moving in

Laylamum2 · 25/11/2025 18:19

We moved house on Friday - have had a hectic few days trying to sort things and have this week off work thankfully.

There is one bathroom in the house and this is upstairs at the front of the house which faces our driveway. Next to the driveway is a neighbours house directly opposite.

The seller has taken all blinds out of the property as is their right and we’ve spent today putting some new ones up, including in the bathroom.

Yesterday, a note got put through our door:

”Get blinds for your bathroom, we don’t want to see you having a shit”

The window is frosted but I assume at night with the light on you can see in.

This was obviously from our neighbours opposite. AIBU to say they went about this in a rude way? They could have sent a politer note or knocked on the door.

Only shit with the windows open and make inappropriate grunts, like you're trying to pass a melon

This 🤣🤣🤣

GarlicButterLobster · 01/12/2025 02:14

Take your bathroom blind down again? 🤔

Lilly246 · 30/11/2025 09:02

Keep your dignity and ignore the note. People like this crave attention and crave power over others. Don't let them think they can influence your behaviour. They will hate it that you consider them irrelevant.

SixtySomerhing · 30/11/2025 06:33

Ignore the note and the rudeness, don't let it spoil the enjoyment of your new home
Also bit ridiculous of the previous owners to take a bathroom blind tbh

Friendlygingercat · 30/11/2025 04:00

Loofah, love it! They must think he is very well endowed.

Sowhat12345 · 29/11/2025 23:21

Enjoy your new home. Silly note. Ignore it. I just hope they don't behave this way in the future

hairypaws · 29/11/2025 21:14

Could be me. My DH pointed out to me today not to shower with the blind up as neighbours could see - they should be so lucky to see my fat arse 🤣 Ignore the note, they'll get over it.

bellabasset · 29/11/2025 20:55

Neighbours opposite did up tgeir house and put new double glazing in. You could see in the bathroom when they had a light on. They found it highly amusing when they looked at it from my bedroom as it hadn't occurred to them that they'd need a blind and they wondered why the dglazers hadn't pointed it out to them.

I would now never put up blinds on principle. It's lovely to have sun on your face while doing your business

Sound like horrible people who would be horrible about something else in due course if it wasn’t this.

I once had neighbours who often had sex without closing the curtains. I don’t think it was an exhibitionist thing, just that they probably didn’t think they were overlooked. On occasion I’d go to close my curtains, look out, and think “oh, they’re at it again”. Then I closed the curtains and got on with whatever I was doing. I couldn’t get too bothered about anything seen through neighbours’ windows that I didn’t want to see - unless it was violence of course. If you see someone using the toilet/having sex/scratching their arse through the window and don’t like it, just look away!

LadyShylock · 29/11/2025 19:46

I live on a 6 year old new estate. I put blinds in the day I moved in but my neighbours across from me(3 of them) never have in 6 years. I can see everytime they have a shower everytime they pee or shit and I’ve just become so accustomed to it I don’t even notice anymore.

I can’t believe these neighbours posted that within 24 hours of you moving in. They are weirdos for even noticing.

Labelledelune · 29/11/2025 19:37

I’d be tempted to get a poster of someone having a shit and putting it in the window but then I find humour where others don’t.

Coco64 · 29/11/2025 19:35

Ignore it. Dint waste your time worrying about it

Marieb19 · 29/11/2025 19:33

Avoid them.

DangerousAlchemy · 26/11/2025 16:22

oh no is this definitely true?? My loft bathroom has privacy glass (or so my builder assured me) so we never put a blind up and I often shower on the way to bed 👀😆🤭🤷‍♀️😫

A place we stayed in Italy had a glass front door with one way glass, you couldn't see in but you could see out. However we found out the hard way that at night if the interior light was on then the one-way function didn't work, I went out to the car for something, OH was having a shower and as I walked back towards the door there he was, wandering around in his birthday suit for anyone to see, totally oblivious!

RonniW · 29/11/2025 18:56

That was extremely RUDE on their part.

ChloeMorningstar · 29/11/2025 18:16

I would enlarge and print their 'shitty' and post to the window so they can see it

GreatFish · 29/11/2025 15:59

RUDE.

ChattyGeePeaTea · 25/11/2025 18:24

Say nothing, but get a window sticker of a shitting Santa for the bathroom window.

This 😀

pestowithwalnuts · 29/11/2025 09:57

Charlize43 · 25/11/2025 19:17

Send a note back:

Hi Neighbour. I'm having a shit at 8pm tonight.

Send it on notepaper that you'd use for a party invite.

Lolol

pestowithwalnuts · 29/11/2025 09:54

Clementine12 · 25/11/2025 18:56

I’d be tempted to squish my boobs against the glass if I found them looking

👍😂😂

pestowithwalnuts · 29/11/2025 09:51

Fionasapples · 25/11/2025 18:48

Make great big arrows out of cardboard, paint them red, stick them around the bathroom window (pointing at it) and moon out of the open window.

Lolololol
You girls make me howl..
,😂😂😂☺️

Mum23plusC · 27/11/2025 11:48

I knew of someone once who's neighbours opposite remarked about the thin curtains in their bedroom "you can see everything". Following that the husband did a full on silhouette show complete with a long loofah each night. They didn't mention it again 😂

Fabulous.!!! 🤣🤣🤣😫

Gingercar · 28/11/2025 19:28

stichguru · 27/11/2025 16:01

Yes I am serious. To me the wording comes across as "we know you aren't aware we can see you, it's ok, no harm done, but rectify the situation for both our sakes!" whereas a more formal note might come across as "you're a disgusting person for not putting up a blind before you started using the bathroom".

That’s really funny that you read it like that. I just can’t equate it with “we don’t want to watch you having a shit!” Not quite on the same level of politeness.

OP you could always sent a note back saying “I guess you aren’t going to like our naked sunbathing either then!”

shuggles · 27/11/2025 16:09

@MySilentLions We are not stupid, you just can’t read properly in your haste to lecture women again.

I didn't know whether the advice to ignore the note was coming from men or women.
