What the heck! Trans women get periods apparently

AIBU that this is the most ridiculous thing for a company to claim.

"Can a transgender woman have a period? Absolutely. Many trans and gender-diverse people menstruate. Whether you’re a woman, a man, non-binary or agender, your body may menstruate too."

But are companies like this losing money? I have heard that Snag tights are really good and that is why people buy them. For sure the marketing puts a lot of people off, but i am sure that the CFO at Snag (and all the other companies who do this) pulls more clout than the marketing team if it starts to hit their bottom line?

Snag tights are good if you’re tall and heavy.

I’ve stopped buying them. Their products are now leaning more and more towards fetish wear.

Hard to know. There are examples of companies going under after taking a turn towards gender ideology - body shop, a surf brand that I can't remember the name of, bud lite obviously. Nike has taken a big hit too.

But in most cases, it could be one of multiple factors, so hard to isolate the gender stuff as a sole cause. They'd need good market research to identify the reasons and they may not be inclined to commission it.

I work in a consultancy role which is an off shoot of marketing. I work with marketeers all the time.

There are many very smart people in marketing, but a very notable characteristic in the industry is the desire for the new and the shiny. This can actually hamper good marketing in a much broader sense than this example, but I won't get into that now.

In this case, the marketing team will have been excited by this direction, probably strongly championed by younger members of the team. They will have sold it in and it may be that some key people across the business like the so called 'progressive' angle. They'll also be excited about a new consumer base.

The impact on the core consumer base may be investigated, but probably in a very superficial way. The echo chambers of the team will mean they don't take this seriously, or don't actually probe for insight. Finance will ask questions, but they will easily be batted back.

So I see exactly how this happened. Other companies have shown us how it might end.

AnSolas · 22/11/2025 11:12

Its not a good financial decision.

Men with a fetish are a niche market.

Branding into a fetish market as a "male" underwere brand disrupts their core market

So it is a stupid long term choice 🤷‍♀️

I totally agree and there are already examples of companies who have lived to regret this.

But they've chosen the 'progressive' social credit points over common sense sound business decisions.

AnSolas · 22/11/2025 11:12

TheKeatingFive · 22/11/2025 10:40

They're not stupid.

They're making a choice to go after this rather than their core base.

They are very much the 'I'm a lady you know' caricature of Little Britain ... that strange looking over the top male version of what a woman is. Again they got it wrong.

I was going for the stereotypical ways that women are portrayed to behave when they have a period.

They could also do:
The Sleepover Kit

  • skimpy nighties
  • face masks
  • mani/pedi equipment
  • feather pillows that explode at the slightest touch
The Break Up with your Boyfriend Kit
  • comfy pyjamas
  • fluffy socks
  • tissues
  • ice cream
  • soppy romantic films
  • gaggle of girlfriends to moan about how awful he was with

Yep and why the brand managers are not seeing that when their core growth market is young girls????

In any case we will be avoiding this company from now on

I agree but some do have uteruses

No trans 'women' or Trans identified men ie biological men have uteruses - not happened ever!

Some of these men who identify as women have a cosmetic opening they call their 'vagina' although it's not a real organ since fashioned from old scrota tissue or colon tissue and is rather 'problematic' due to what it was intended for originally. It's not a vagina and it's not a uterus.

@tommyhoundmum you have been misinformed go check and you will see that the person told you lies!

Ihatetomatoes · 22/11/2025 09:02

AnSolas · 22/11/2025 08:35

They do understand

They are choosing to market their women only product as fetish gear to men.

Not imo a good brand idea as most women would not wish to buy male fetish gear for themselves or their girls.

So the idea of marketing a male wank aid to a girl of 8 to 10 has Pedophilia vibes. And giving young girls sex aids is non-contact child sex abuse via grooming.

Why the brand management dont see the pedophilia association as brand risk as problem is beyond me.

Yuck that is vomit inducing.

Ihatetomatoes · 22/11/2025 08:59

Malvarrosa · 21/11/2025 23:35

The trans women who DO have uteri are probably actually circumtranswomen: biological women (Modibodi would probably say AFAB - Assigned Female at Birth) who identify as biological men who identify as and present as women.

There was a Labour councillor in Lewisham who came out as circumtrans in 2019, but I think it’s still quite taboo. Circumtranswomen are of course a triply-marginalised minority as they (1) are women, (2) are trans, and (3) present as women to society.

So actual women then. Women who identify as men identifying as trans who ....blah de blah. Biological women factually which is all that matters when it comes to periods and who needs period pants and who might have a uterus.

AnSolas · 22/11/2025 08:51

tommyhoundmum · 21/11/2025 20:26

Ooops, sorry. Perhaps I am an idiot. I meant a vagina. Doubtless some of you won't like that either.

I definately am not drunk.

Sure its been said before but the female vagina is not a body part which a male body can sustain as a transplant organ in the way a heart or kidney can plug and play with the support of daily anti-rejection meds

A male having surgically changed his penis and relocated into his pelvic region in a cosmetic process is not creating a vagina.

Looks like the Feminism board is leaking.

(Hooray!)

I think it's brilliant that finally we can all talk freely on this subject without fear of reprisal or banning or cancellation.

And I speak as the mum of a (wonderful, special, beautiful and basically happy) transboy daughter who's probably just a lesbian really but got caught up in it all.

Best of luck to you 🤞
Hope your girl comes to love her body and accept her self as she is without being caught up in the idea that medication which will push her into menopause is a solution.
❤️

Er I believe that's "kinkshaming" and "yukking someone's yum" as well as "denying their right to an existence."

See yourself out please.

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 22/11/2025 08:39

I've seen biological men who identify as women claim to be having periods. They do things like wrapping up in a nice fluffy blanket with a hot water bottle and chocolate and and look for sympathy.

That's not living as a women. Most women say "oh FSS", take some painkillers and get on with their day as normal as much as they can. Said as someone who suffered from severe PMS and battled through each bad day.

orangemapleleaves · 22/11/2025 08:38

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Thanks so much for sharing that. I have read it before but forgot about it! That's exactly what it's doing. As well as making anyone who falls for it look rather dim.

Mind you I had an actual doctor tell me I should dump my breast milk when I had pneumonia & a newborn as I was "poorly" so there is complete ignorance about women's bodies at all levels of society sadly.

I don't drink. Don't be rude and insulting. The surgical procedure was explained to me by someone who had undergone it.

What kind of zoo animal is a uterus haver? I have a uterus and Im a woman.

The kind that will be renamed by the medical profession to be "inclusive".

Eg The Irish Cervical Cancer Board (which can only provide cancer screening and services to women) decided it would be a great idea to remove the word woman from their organisation and provide care to persons with cervix. This was after a TRA woman lobbied the Staff. Which is funny as they likely had no obligation to provide her with any services if she has obtained a GRC.

Also funny thing is that at the time they were being taken to court by people with no cervix to explain why said person without a cervix had no cervix (women dying of cancer due to poor testing which missed signs of cancer).

But on the upside if cervical cancer death change its metric and its not women but people with a cervix their death rate zeros out overnight🤷‍♀️

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/11/2025 08:15

Apart from anything else, it's so stupid to talk about womb transplants as if it was just a matter of getting hold of a womb and plumbing it in inside a male pelvis. We know how complicated pregnancy is! Any woman who's been through it can tell you how it affects her whole body. The complexity is mind-boggling. From conception on, female bodies have been built up to be capable of this. Obviously sometimes things go wrong and an individual woman can't become pregnant or give birth. But mostly human females can. Human males can't, in any circumstances. That's not how mammals have evolved.

We may have the biggest brains of any animal and the most complex social structures, but we are not exempt from biology and evolution.

@nauticant has been making the point below, very eloquently, for many years. This is the first post of hers I found using Advanced Search. It bears repetition.

nauticant · 03/02/2023 14:31

This is what I cut and paste whenever this gruesome subject comes up:
This business of uterine "transplants" into men appears to be about science but it is not. It's about getting the idea out there that men can give birth too, but not just yet, there are a few technical details to be sorted out first. So while we're waiting for the inevitable, let's get on with the social sciences side of things and accept that since men can give birth too (not yet, but soon, soon, it's bound to happen), then there are no real differences between men and women in terms of things that are material and significant, they're just bodies with an interchangeable set of parts. The actual significant differences are surface ones like the chosen forms of appearance.
It is about trying to change how people think by assuming a medical horror is a run-of-the-mill thing just round the corner. It's Overton Window stuff, not science.

Pedallleur · 22/11/2025 08:13

Thinking about the film The Departed where DiCaprio is drinking cranberry juice and Ray Winstone asks him if he is on his period. Who knew art would mirror life?

While I don't doubt there's a research team of absolute fuckwits in London fundraising for this, surely anyone donating funds, if they thought about it for more than five minutes, would decide to donate elsewhere.

Having carried babies, my experience was that pregnancy and growing a baby involves more than a uterus. It's the entire endocrine system, digestive system, your lungs, your heart, your blood volume, your brain.

Where would the uterus go?

And what kind of research team would take that risk with a live foetus?

And what would be the point?

It's clearly never ever ever going to happen and anyone who thinks it might is insane. Certifiably.

[Not a pop at you AnSolas, but just something I ponder every time some idiot blithely talks about uterine transplants into men like it's ever going to be within the realms of possibility]

The "big" issue is blood supply as womens bodies are designed with the correct pipework which can adapt to the change of carrying a baby

After that its getting the male body to mimic hormones etc.

And NHS Fife employes a male doctor along with other senior staff who claim under oath in a Uk court that it is not possible to Id what a female body is.

A teaching hospital was training nurses how to deal with a human male who was giving birth which did not involve calling the SS for an emengency placement of a child in danger or the police.

Dont underestimate what people will do for career advancement and money.

And the celebration at the end of a UK trial passing the ethics board :

Perhaps a member of their PR team watched the Danish Girl and assumed that uterus transplants in men were now a success? Lord knows.

Saudi Arabia had been tinkering with this BC they don't recognise adoption as a concept. But it so far has only worked in female recipients. There's been about 100 done so far. Transmen are already being sized up as potential donors
